πŸ”Ž Our First Clue! πŸ”Ž Hallmark Mystery's April 2025 Movie Premiere Revealed (with "When Calls the Heart" Connection!)

I'm expecting Hallmark Media to soon release details on the movies premiering in April on the Hallmark Channel, and I'm hoping one of them will be a DaySpring Easter-themed movie, but we'll have to wait and see! (We've had two movies in the last two years, The Blessing Bracelet in 2023 and An Easter Bloom in 2024.)

In the meantime, Hallmark has released details on its new mystery movie premiere coming to Hallmark Mystery this April. The film is "Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Lesson in Murder," which initially premiered on the streaming platform Hallmark+ on October 3, 2024.

This marks the second Hallmark Mystery premiere of the year, which originally debuted on Hallmark+. (The first movie to also do this was "The Jane Mysteries: A Deadly Prescription," which premiered in January.)

Movie Details:

Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Lesson in Murder

Premiere Date: Thursday, April 10 at 8/7c.

Starring: Skyler Samuels, Evan Roderick and Marilu Henner

Storyline: When a student from Aurora's true crime literature class is found murdered outside the diner where she works, Aurora takes it upon herself to figure out the real culprit.

I'm trying to recall if anyone here reviewed this movie back in October. I checked the Streaming Movies Reviews page and didn't see a review there. Anyway, if any of you have seen it and would like to share a quick thought or review, please do so in comments below. (with no mystery spoilers, of course!)

The "When Calls the Heart" connection to this movie is Kavan Smith, who is pictured in a few photos above. It looks like he plays an interesting character named Ricky. Could he be the suspect???

Also, I've had several people ask me when we might see the next "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" movie installment that has already been filmed, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Moon and Back." Honestly, at this point, I don't know. With Eric Mabius' recent legal troubles and arrest, it might take a while before we see it. You might recall, it was years before "Garage Sale Mysteries" made its way back to Hallmark, after Lori Loughlin was indicted in the college admissions scandal, so it's hard to say what decision will be made here for "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." I think many fans are thinking this will likely be the end of this series. I'm hoping that's not the case and there can be some sort of redemption here; frankly, isn't that what "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" is all about... forgiveness, reconciliation, and second chances.

On a brighter note, I hope we have some lovely Spring movies ahead. Stay tuned for more details on the April movie premieres!

Happy Sleuthing!

  1. Well said, Net. Let’s hope this isn’t the end of Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

  2. I didn’t really like the first Aurora movie with the new cast, but I might give this a try since Kavan is in it. Wasn’t he the bad guy in something else already? Christie

    1. Christie, You're right; he was the bad guy in "Garage Sale Mystery: All That Glitters." It's hard to think of Kavan Smith (Lee) being mean at all, let alone a killer.

  3. Kavan’s character is Ricky-roni

  4. Net- Glad you reported on the difficulties in Eric Mabius’ life. You stated it beautifully with forgiveness being the best direction.

I don’t know how the Hallmark Corporation will handle the situation, but I would like to comment on the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” latest movie. The entire series is the best, however; I thought the last movie was lackluster. The actors, like us all, have aged past the storyline of newborns, etc. If the next movie does a fast forward say about 7 years, the SSD group may enthusiastically tackle more lost letters and middle age life.
    Take care,

    1. I disagree that the actors have aged too much for newborns. My parents were in their 40’s when I was born and my dad had a friend who had 4 children in his 60s. I know Kristin, Geoff, and Eric are 50/53, but their characters are supposed to be younger. I for one am happy that Martha chose to give them baby storylines. I know several POstables who are excited for them to have babies too. I for one have wanted it since the Christmas movie. You’re entitled to your opinion, of course, just want to share another perspective. I hope we get to see where To the Moon and Back takes them.

  5. On a positive note about SSD… when Lori got in trouble they cut ties with her immediately. They haven’t said anything about Eric and whomever runs the twitter account has made a couple of comments on POstable posts. Nothing about the new movie, but they haven’t said anything about it in the 7 months we’ve been asking, so im holding onto hope. They also deleted Lori’s movies and they haven’t done that with Eric. 4 of the movies are scheduled on March 30th on Hallmark Family. There were 4 scheduled for March 2nd and they did take those off, but they changed which movies were scheduled for March 30th too, which they’ve done before. POstables are used to the waiting game, but I wish they would say something to ease our minds or tell us it’s over. I hope they do show it because it’s done and not like they had to shut down production like they did with Lori. Anyway, like I said, holding on to hope.

  6. Somehow, I missed Eric's mess. Ugh.

  7. I’m sad by this news. It does sound like he was in the wrong, but not himself under the influence. Maybe he didn’t mean to pull on the woman’s hair. Stumbled and grabbed something to hold on to maybe??? I feel bad for him. I’m not sure yet what to think. I want to see more SSD, at least the one they finished filming. If this truly was an accident, I pray the truth will come out.

  8. Will we see a Hallmark Mystery movie where the lead character is murdered

  9. Two things: 1) What Lori did was bad and proved she thinks (or thought) she is above others but 2) what Eric allegedly did is far worse. Battery against woman? Violence against children, women, disabled or seniors is something that doesn't deserve forgiveness, acording to majority. If he really did that I don't think Hallmark would want to have any future connections with him and it would probably even have impact on reruns of previous episodes of SSD.

  10. Hi Net! I did watch this new Aurora Teagarden movie on Hallmark + and it was family friendly from what I can remember. It was okay….hard to get used to the new Aurora as we all know. One thing I’ll say is that I really feel Aurora and Arthur have good chemistry, the way he just looks at her in the movie and others, you can feel how much he cares for her. I hope they focus on their romance but then again I know he eventually marries Lynn in the future so I guess they can’t explore it that much.
