πŸŽ„πŸŽ Unwrap New Christmas Movie Premieres All Weekend Long + "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Happy first full weekend of December, movie friends!

Oh, how I love this time of year... all of the preparation and excitement!

There's always so much to do and so little time to squeeze it all in... with church events, Christmas concerts, shopping for gifts, baking holiday goodies, driving around to look at the spectacular Christmas lights, and watching all sorts of Christmas movies, too... of course!!!

We had a snowy blizzard go through our area yesterday; for a short time we had a complete whiteout, so it wasn't one of those pretty snowfalls you see in the movies. But thankfully, our power did not go out, especially since we have had dangerously cold temps these last few days. So... with that, it's been the perfect time to stay inside, keep warm, and watch a good movie or two. I hope your weather outside hasn't been quite as frightful!

Take a look below at some of the NEW Christmas movies, along with some classic premieres from streaming or other networks...

Movie Reviews:

πŸŽ„ Reel One's The 12 Dares of Christmas is clean (aside from a small rainbow flag on a cash register), and a whole lot of fun. -Maria

πŸŽ„ 12 Dares of Christmas. Double meh, for me. Cringey, low-budget, b-list mess. I couldn’t make it all the way through. The movie was a weird mish mash of storylines. The part that was “12 Dares” could have been cute had it been better planned out with a better script and better actors and “dares” that were all wholesome (as most of them were). Unfortunately, the first dare was the tacky “go to bar and give your phone number to 12 strangers” – yuck! The actress who plays the sister is better than the lead actress, but they both acted silly, especially with lines like “Yay! Hot girl winter!” – cringe! And the lead actor is just not my version of swoony – more like an effeminate nerd. I kept watching for a while and just when I’d think there was some cute banter or positive elements, they’d go and ruin it with more silly scenes and subpar acting. This thing was a train wreck. It was a Reel One movie so, of course, it had the obligatory annoying and odd background music that plays too loudly through scenes where people are talking. And I don’t think it was even Christmas music (unless it was some weird version of Jingle Bells), it sounded more like oompa-loompa polka music or game show music that’s been slowed way down. What was that?!! So, I probably only made it a third of the way through. What I saw was family friendly and I’m guessing a teenage crowd might like this movie better than I did.  ~~Jane

Movie Reviews:

πŸŽ„ How to Fall In Love By Christmas - is a clean and very, very delightful romp! -Maria

πŸŽ„ I watched a cute movie last night. It was "How to Fall in Love by Christmas". My husband and I really enjoyed it. It was clean and a lot of fun. Teri Hatcher and Dan Payne were the leads and they had warm, natural chemistry. It was nice seeing older leads fall in love. :-) They had a really interesting meet-cute. I laughed out loud. ~Joan

πŸŽ„ How to Fall in Love by Christmas. Cute movie with more mature leads, which I appreciated. Teri and Dan were great and believable (the meet-cute was fun). The premise about the 10-step dating article and the company board not being happy was a bit convoluted and confusing to me but it didn’t really affect my enjoyment of the movie. This was a nice little standard Christmas movie with some warm “feels” good for a one-time watch (and possibly a re-watch in the future?). Not as good as Teri’s “A Kiss Before Christmas” from two years ago. Family friendly. ~~Jane

πŸŽ„ How to Fall in Love by Christmas – This Christmas movie, starring Teri Hatcher and Dan Payne, was such a delightful watch. I enjoyed the comedy (such a fun meet-cute!) and heartwarming moments, too. It is such an easy-going, enjoyable movie that will surely leave you with a smile on your face. ~Net

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! If it's chilly where you are, bundle up and keep warm, and be safe as you are traveling.

The two NEW Christmas movies that intrigue me the most this weekend are: Private Princess Christmas and Once Upon a Christmas Wish.

Please note: I haven't pre-screened all of the new movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments. By the way, there are reviews above for two movies: A Christmas Thief and 12 Dares of Christmas.

The majority of us have likely seen Candace Cameron Bure and Jesse Hutch in Let it Snow, which has a special premiere showing Sunday night on Great American Family. The film initially premiered in 2013 (11 years ago!), and it's still one that viewers love. There's just something extra warm and cozy about this movie that I've always enjoyed, and I can't help from wondering if GAF might consider creating a sequel. Perhaps, Brady (Jesse Hutch) and Stephanie (Candace Cameron Bure) are married now and running the inn, and a new love blossoms at Snow Valley Lodge. And it must all happen at Christmastime, of course! Anyway, that could be fun! What do you think?

Visit the *Christmas TV Schedule* for the dates and times of NEW Christmas movies.

You can find the 2024 Christmas Movie Review post *here*.

Happy Christmas Movie-Watching!

SHINING HIS LIGHT:

A Scripture for the first week of Advent, which represents hope and expectation...

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

Isaiah 9:6-7

The annual "Christmas in Rockefeller Center” Special airs live Tonight, Wednesday, December 4th, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and will also simulcast on Peacock.

Did you know that The Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting has been an annual tradition since 1933! Wow! 91 years! It is wonderful that this heartwarming holiday tradition carries on.

Here is an excerpt below of some of the details for tonight's show via NBC's press release:

NBC'S "CHRISTMAS IN ROCKEFELLER CENTER" UNVEILS STAR-STUDDED PERFORMER LINEUP FOR ANNUAL TREE-LIGHTING TELECAST

Backstreet Boys, Dan + Shay, Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hudson, Coco Jones, Little Big Town, RAYE, the Radio City Rockettes and Thalia Set to Take the Stage as Part of Iconic New York City Holiday Tradition.

Emmy and Grammy Award Winner Kelly Clarkson Will Return to Host and Perform During Two-Hour Holiday Special.

Prior to the primetime telecast, an additional live hour of the special will be broadcast on all NBC Owned Television Stations and on numerous NBC affiliates nationwide starting at 7 p.m. ET. Check local listings. This special live hour will be hosted by "Access Hollywood" and "Access Daily with Mario & Kit" host Mario Lopez, as well as WNBC news anchors Natalie Pasquarella and David Ushery.

The annual holiday special will celebrate the lighting of a 74-foot tall, 43-foot wide Norway Spruce from West Stockbridge, Mass. The tree weighs approximately 11 tons, will be adorned with more than 50,000 multi-colored LED lights and topped with a three-dimensional Swarovski star.

Continuing a longstanding tradition, after the tree leaves Rockefeller Center it will be donated to Habitat for Humanity and milled into lumber that will be used for home building.

I hope many of you will enjoy tonight's program. If any of you are also able to see the first hour hosted by Mario Lopez, please let us know if he is able to promote his upcoming Great American Family Christmas movie, Once Upon a Christmas Wish, during it. He did an interview last night for the film in New York on Jesse Watters Primetime on Fox News. Mario discussed that this was his first movie with Great American Family and (paraphrasing) that he was glad to get his family involved with this project.

Disclaimer: Please know, I am simply reporting above all of the performers that will be in attendance for the Christmas in Rockefeller Center tree lighting; I am not aware of what may occur during a live program. Viewer discretion is advised.

Hopefully, it will be a fun, family-friendly program, and everyone will enjoy seeing the beautiful Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center lit up again!

Movie Reviews:

(This movie first premiered on Hallmark+)

πŸ”Ž Review: The Jane Mysteries: A Deadly Prescription -
Family-friendly? Yes -
Recommend? Nope -

I did not watch the Jane Mystery from last year, so maybe there was something in that movie that would have made me appreciate this one a bit more. Or maybe not. Anyway, I am starting from scratch with this series. And it is a big No for me. Because...

* The mystery is boring, and it is not too difficult to solve. Also, the culprit is shown about 2/3 into the movie.
* The acting is bad. Jodie Sweetin may be okay in some romcoms, but in a more serious role like this, she is in over her head. She overacts and simply cannot be taken seriously. Stephen Huszar, on the other hand, was too low key and seemed like he was never into his role. And there is absolutely no chemistry between these two.
* The script has too many cringe-worthy subplots and one-liners which make Jodie's character come across at times as silly or careless or unknowledgeable or rude.
* And what is with the songs? Jodie must have in her contract that she is to sing a few songs in these movies, because, while yes she is a very good singer, they are uncalled for and stop the flow of the movie.

Here's an example that includes some of the problems I have mentioned: Jodie and Stephen enter a nightclub where they are to be inconspicuous. The owner tells Jodie the singer can't perform and can she step in(?!), and the next thing you know she is belting out this song on stage like she has been singing it her whole life!

Okay, I guess you can tell that I didn't care for this movie at all. I will not be bothering with the other two movies in this series, so. sorry, I won't be doing any other Jane Mystery movie reviews. -Mark25

πŸ”Ž The Jane Mysteries: A Deadly Prescription - This is the second film in The Jane Mysteries, and I’m still not feeling that certain spark between Jodie Sweetin and Stephen Huszar’s characters.

The relationship I appreciate the most is the one between Jane (Jodie) and the woman who plays her aunt. Since her aunt has been going through a hard time since her husband’s passing, it’s nice to see Jane being there for her and continuing to search for clues to his cold cases.

Which gets me to my next point… this is a murder mystery; therefore, the movie is best suited for pre-teen age and up. Otherwise, it is a family-friendly movie.

The mystery itself is fairly intriguing with a number of suspects.

If any of you are fans of the Christmas movie, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (you know, the one with Uncle Ralph), then you might recognize one of the suspects as the guy Jen is supposed to marry, Richard (the guy with the shiny shoes). His hair is a little longer in this, so he looks a little different, but yeah, it’s him. I did a quick check of his IMDB, and it looks like this is his first movie with Hallmark since TMWTOT. Interesting, huh?

Anyway, if you really enjoy mysteries, then you might want to check this one out. ~Net

Besides this line-up, hopefully, there will be some good films coming our way in 2025!

Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Blessings to you all, Net

❄ See Who is Performing at the "CMA Country Christmas" Tonight on ABC

The annual Christmas musical event, “CMA Country Christmas,” airs tonight, Tuesday, December 3rd at 8pm/7c on ABC. This musical program can also be streamed on Hulu and Disney+ the next day.

Details via ABC's press:

"Filmed in Nashville in front of a live audience, the festive special showcases one-of-a-kind musical performances of Christmas classics from Country Music’s biggest stars. Returning co-hosts Amy Grant and Trisha Yearwood take the stage and perform “Sing Your Praise To The Lord” and “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town.” Grant also takes the stage to perform “Tennessee Christmas” and Yearwood delivers a fun and festive Christmas medley.

Alongside the night’s hosts, the lineup includes for KING + COUNTRY with Carin LeΓ³n (“O Come, O Come Emmanuel”), Cody Johnson (“White Christmas“) and (“I’ll Be Home For Christmas”), Ashley McBryde and Brittney Spencer (“Man With The Bag”), Jon Pardi (“400 Horsepower Sleigh”) and CeCe Winans (“Joy To The World”)."

In years past, the program was 2 hours long, but this year, please note it is only one hour. Of all the performers, I'm personally most wanting to see for KING + COUNTRY. They are such incredible, phenomenal entertainers, and this Christian duo will sing about the true reason for the season!

I'll never forget seeing for KING + COUNTRY perform "Little Drummer Boy" live in concert with my family for the first time. Words cannot express how spectacular that performance was... from the vocals, to the drums, and the lighting!!! It's an experience I'll never forget. I've included below a video of for KING & COUNTRY singing "Little Drummer Boy" Live from the CMA Country Christmas four years ago in 2019.

If you're interested in attending a for KING + COUNTRY concert, you can see tour dates here. Plus, for KING + COUNTRY’s A Drummer Boy Christmas LIVE, will air in theaters throughout December. Tickets are available here.

And, if you'd like a great stocking stuffer, you can get their newest CD with 15 Christmas song tracks - for King & Country A Drummer Boy Christmas (Live) - Music & Performance - CD at Walmart or Amazon (see the songs on the CD - here).

Well, I hope many of you will also enjoy the new "CMA Country Christmas" show! Is there a musical act you want to see the most? Please share in comments below.

Also, following the show, you can see on ABC the classic cartoon, "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town"!

Get Him Back for Christmas will now premiere on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 8/7c. on Great American Family!

This is the real-life couple's second movie with the network. Their previous non-holiday film, Mr. Manhattan, premiered back in August and was well-loved by viewers. Hopefully, this is the start of many more original movies to come! Alexa and Carlos have such a strong foundation in their faith, three beautiful children here on earth and one with Jesus, and a gifted passion for music. I believe their movies reflect the heart of who they are, including their new film this Christmas!

Here's a scoop on the Get Him Back for Christmas storyline, directly from Great American Family:

In Get Him Back for Christmas, up-and-coming singer-songwriter Bella Harlan (Alexa PenaVega) comes home for Christmas and enlists her high-school songwriting partner Jack Grayton (Carlos PenaVega) to craft a song to win back her rockstar boyfriend by Christmas. As the two reunite for the first time in a decade, they embark on a Christmas journey down memory lane, and soon realize true love may be closer than they thought. The heart of the movie centers on Jack’s role with The Salvation Army, and Bella soon finds herself inspired by his devotion and passion to a life of doing the most good. Filled with charming original music and its share of twists and turns, Get Him Back for Christmas demonstrates the importance of never losing sight of the ones who matter the most.

New Trailer:

Alexa and Carlos' new Christmas movie looks like a lot of fun, and it appears there will be an inspirational storyline, as well, about giving to others with The Salvation Army.

Since this movie was shuffled around in the schedule, that means Christmas In Scotland was moved to Saturday, December 21st, and A Royal Christmas Ballet remains in it's time slot, on Sunday, December 22nd, as the last new premiere of the holiday season for Great American Family.

Have a Merry Day, Everyone!
Blessings to you all,
