Every year there is a debate between those who decorate before and those who decorate after Thanksgiving.
I've experienced doing it both ways with my family, and personally, I love to have all of the decorations up as long as possible, so yes, we start early now! And studies show that decorating can definitely lift your mood and make you feel happier. So, that's a good reason, too. Right?
However, I also realize some people like to wait until Thanksgiving Day is over and perhaps, they decorate with their family that holiday weekend when most have a little extra time off from work.
There's never a wrong time to decorate. Actually, the debate is over... it should just be whatever time is best for you!
No matter when we decorate our Christmas tree in our home, it seems each year there's always a new ornament I see and must add to our collection.
So... I wanted to share some of the ornaments I've seen and liked this year. Help me to narrow it down to just two! Please!!

I hope you enjoyed this look at these special Christmas ornaments!
Each year, when we get out our cherished Christmas ornaments, I think of the Hallmark movie The Christmas Ornament and how Cameron Mathison's character refers to the ornaments as "memories on branches." That statement is profoundly beautiful, and just thinking about it warms my heart. It is simple but true. So many of our ornaments have special meaning behind them, and I'm sure many of the ornaments on your Christmas tree hold special memories for you, too!
For even more Christmas ornaments - you can shop direct at Amazon or Macy's.
By the way, Macy's currently has an excellent discount on their Holiday Lane brand of ornaments and other great brands, like Lenox, Swaroski, and Hallmark!

I put my tree up on October 12 I love to be decorated for when the Christmas movies start airing.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...tough to choose just two, but the first and last ones shown get my vote.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas tree is up and decorated! I started on November 1st this year, and I think it does put everyone in better spirits.
ReplyDeleteThe ornaments you chose are all pretty, Net. I like the O Holy Night and Holiday Lane shiny ball ornaments best. The balls look nearly like the ones my grandparents had on their tree. Christie
We usually decorate our upstairs tree at Thanksgiving because granddaughters help. This year we celebrated with them early because they will be traveling to other relatives so we did that one last night. We do another tree in our basement where we basically live after Thanksgiving, but I enjoy lights and decorations anytime so my vote would be for either.
ReplyDeleteMy husband believes it is wrong to decorate until after celebrating Thanksgiving. To get around that, I keep a tree up all year and change the decorations on it. It is now a Thanksgiving tree with angels and snowflakes on it. Where there is a will; there is a way.
ReplyDeleteNet, I love all things Charlie Brown! I purchased that ornament last week. My second choice is the Nativity.
Cindy Lou and the mixing bowls. I already have a tree full of inherited ball ornaments so I tend towards fun ones. And one tree before thanksgiving and the other after.
ReplyDeleteI’ve had my coastal beach mini tree up on my bedroom dresser since the first of November. But for the main family tree, we always go the day after Thanksgiving. But we always decorate the outside with lights a week before.
ReplyDeleteMy vote would be the first one Net, along with the Holiday Lane bulbs.
Net , until I saw this post I was not shopping! Or trying not to! I like everything you showed, but O Holy Night and Charlie Brown both call to me. I love that line from Peanuts Christmas special when Charlie Brown finds his mailbox empty. I cry each time. Barbara
ReplyDeleteI’m with you Gigi, I like my tree up when I start watching Christmas movies, makes the living room so cozy! We put ours up and all decorations the last week of October. It’s so much work to do for such a small amount of time if we were to wait until December so we start early π

I usually put up my tree after Thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteI've become a before Christmas. It brings me joy.
ReplyDeleteI put my tree and most all of the other decorations up after Thanksgiving except my Christmas Village...already out. It stays out till February!
ReplyDeleteI like the Oh Holy Night and Holiday Lane ornaments! They are all beautiful but those two would be my choice.
