Check out this awesome ratings news for Great American Family for Christmas, 2022, in their latest press release...

Great American Family
Closes Out Fourth Quarter
as Fastest-Growing Network
in All of Cable Television

Ranked #1 in Today Day ratings growth in HH, P18-49 and P2+;

Ranked #1 in Primetime ratings growth in HH

NEW YORK, NY – January 3, 2022 – Great American Family closed out Fourth Quarter 2022 as the fastest-growing network in all of cable television. In only its second year, the emerging leader in original Christmas movies ranked #1 in Total Day ratings growth in Households (+113%), People 18-49 (+100%) and Total Viewers (+116%), and #1 in Primetime ratings growth in Households (+128%) among all cable networks.

Fourth Quarter 2022 viewership growth was driven by the network’s Great American Christmas franchise which featured 18 original Christmas movies and fan-favorite stars including Candace Cameron Bure, Danica McKellar, Gladys Knight, Jen Lilley and more. The expanded slate of 18 films marked a 50% increase in the network’s holiday movie offering in year two and further established Great American Family as a destination for original Christmas movies.

In addition to the fast-growing Great American Christmas franchise, the network features year-round seasonal programming events, including Autumn Harvest and Great American Winter, which feature original movies celebrating faith, family and country.

My thoughts...

I am so happy for Great American Family, for achieving such great success at the end of 2022! Christmas was a wonderful launching pad for the channel in 2021 and now it is exciting to see this incredible growth at Christmastime in 2022, with great anticipation for all that is to come in 2023.

I am honored to support and watch this network - that promotes films about family and faith.

Currently, Great American Family is airing two movies back to back each weeknight and movies will air throughout the day and evenings on Saturday and Sunday, with a new movie airing most Saturday nights. You can see the January schedule - here.

Happy movie-watching, everyone! Net

  2. Hi Everyone, let me preface the following with, like everyone else here, I am a big supporter of GAF and their stance on traditional Christianity. It is so nice to be able to sit down and watch one of their movies without having to worry about any non-family-friendly or woke agendas.

I am also pleased to see their growth over last year, but this should not come as a surprise to anyone, since there wasn't much offered last year. It is easy to show a large growth, percentage-wise, when you are dealing with small numbers. (For example, going from 1 to 2 is 100% growth, while going from 100 to 101 is only 1% growth.) As I've learned over the years, one always needs to be careful when dealing with percentages.

A more viable measure of success is actual viewing numbers, and unfortunately, it is here where GAF falls short and where it becomes worrisome for me. According to a site that tracks viewership, through 12/8, Hallmark's Christmas movies were averaging 2 million viewers each; HMM's were averaging 877000; LIfetime's were averaging 428,000; and GAF's were averaging 282,000. The site also pointed out that Candace's and Danica's movies pulled in much, much less than when they were at Hallmark.

I am not sure what the answer is. As Net pointed out, GAF is really just starting out, and they should grow over time. Also, many of us have noted that the quality of many of the GAC movies this year was not high, so we can hope that this will improve down the road. But - I'll be totally honest - these numbers are troubling to me. It makes we wonder if Bill will have difficulty attracting actors that haven't signed commitments to be part of his movies in the future. I hope not, but I guess for now it is just wait and see...and pray!

  3. It's great news that GAF is increasing its viewing figures but all Channels are very good at presenting the figures in the best light for themselves and the fact is that when you are starting from a low base the percentage increase is likely to be high.

I'm wondering am I not understanding the breathtaking claim "the emerging leader in original Christmas movies"?

    I find this puzzling.

I'm providing a link to an article which explains the current position which I would think would be of interest to many here:

  4. We enjoyed watching the GAF Christmas movies. GAF was our Christmas movie destination in 2022. Now we are looking forward to their winter movies. I am so happy to hear of their success in the ratings too.

  5. Well, I'm certainly glad for the growth of the network. It certainly isn't an easy thing to do these days. I would say though that I hope the quality of the Christmas movies improves. Production value-wise many of this years movies look like they were shot in one of the crew members apartments. Not to mention that acting really fell off compared to last years initial crop of movies. I hope these are just growing pains because I really only felt there were a few movies that were really good. I may be picky since I'm a media professional, but here's hoping for a rebound on next years movies. I will say though that I liked that it appeared that many of the movies were filmed in actual snowy locations which was nice. Keith

  6. This is great news. Thanks for being a unbiased site who reports on all networks the same and does not try to spread their hatred towards any network. There are some that have so much hatred towards one network that they must lead a very mirserable life.
