‘Wedding Of A Lifetime’ Coming to Hallmark...

Hallmark announced via Deadline a new movie project coming later this year, titled ‘Wedding Of A Lifetime,’ starring Jonathan Bennett and Brooke D’Orsay.

This is the storyline via Crown Media: "Bennett (Mean Girls) and D’Orsay play an engaged couple who have been together since their days as high school sweethearts in a close-knit mountain town, but have found themselves in a rut and out of love. As Darby and Jake prepare to break the news of their separation to their families, they inadvertently find themselves entered in a “romantic relationship competition” hosted by a popular national daytime TV show after being nominated by the whole town. The grand prize is a televised, all-expenses-paid “wedding of a lifetime!” Though Darby and Jake are uncomfortable pretending they are still engaged, they decide to continue with the show. Neither of them wants to disappoint their family and friends, and being on the show could potentially give both their careers a boost. Will the charade end with Darby and Jake coming clean and going their separate ways, or will the competition rekindle their romance?"

*My Quick Take:

Sometimes the fake boyfriend/girlfriend/fiancΓ© storyline, etc... can be cute, but sometimes, it can be annoying, too. (in my opinion) It's a story that has been done a lot. Maybe, too much. I mean, I still love A Boyfriend for Christmas, Holiday Engagement, Surprised by Love, etc... but it would be nice to see some original plot content in these new productions. I didn't see An Unexpected Christmas, but this storyline seems to be quite similar, with two exes pretending to still be involved.

Anyway, that's one of the new films that will premiere sometime later this year on Hallmark- before the Christmas movies begin in October.

Blessings on your day, Net

  1. My issue with this storyline, is how old are the couple supposed to be? JB is 41 and Brooke is 40, so even if they play mid 30's or early 30's, they have been together since high school, like just in the same town? even at 30, that is 12 years of dating, but they dont pass for 30, so its more like 15 years of dating and some engaged? this storyline might work for actors/actresses that are in mid 20's or 30 tops.

And this isnt like a boyfriend for christmas, where they just pretend to be dating. these 2 broke up, so they were a couple recently, and have to pretend. Like Cranberry christmas. I am not a fan of those movies usually. they are usually like "you took advantage of how nice i was", or "you were never around and I was sad and lonely". I dont think this works with these actors either.

    1. Sabrina, Cranberry Christmas is a great comparison! It sounds very close to that storyline... especially with them keeping up appearances for a TV show.

    2. What Hallmark Mysteries Movies that have weddings in the movies?

    3. Chris, 3 movies instantly come to mind...
Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar
Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Vows We Have Made
Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Til Death Do Us Part

  2. No thanks. Given who the leads are, I think I know what this movie will probably end up including, and I don't like it. -Maria

  4. Look like from the movie called; “My Fake FiancΓ©”, from Freeform Channel

Cynical singleton Jennifer meets womanising gambling addict Vince at a friend's wedding. She's broke and needs furniture for a new apartment, while he has gambling debts owed to a loan shark. They hit upon the solution of faking their engagement and wedding for the cash and gifts.

Starring Melissa Joan Hart & Joey Lawrence

  6. This sounds like a regular Hallmark movie from a few years back so I'm actually hopeful although we'll have to wait and see if it's family friendly.

Brooke D'Orsay and Jonathan Bennett are interesting choices for a lead pairing and it will be either really fantastic or completely woeful!

I remember Jonathan being paired with Alexa Penevaga a few years back which I thought was a mistake but it actally really worked.

As Sabrina has pointed out the age factor could be a problem - here's hoping Hallmark aren'y yet again going to try to pass off a couple of 40 year-olds as 20 somethings - I get the feeling that's what's going to happen in the new Rachel Boston movie - Florence

  7. Meanwhile, Hallmark recently released a look at their upcoming film A Christmas Disconnect, starring Marisol Nichols and Kristoffer Polaha:

    1. Youtube has a short video about the film with Kris and Marisol, with an alpaca. I'm all in if it has Kris Polaha!!

    2. Namegirl, Same here! It's always good to see Kristoffer Polaha!

I have that video posted *here*, along with two other recent Hallmark Countdown to Christmas videos.

That was so thoughtful of you to share. I'm very curious how the alpacas will play into this story.

  8. Not sure where to ask this, but here goes: I just saw a new movie posted on Hallmark's movie app called The Journey Ahead on Movie and Mysteries. The blurb says that two women have to take a road trip home together and realize they can't stay in the past or something like that. It's really vague right now, and there are no pictures, but is this a lesbian relationship? It would be a first for Hallmark to make the sole focus couple gay, which would make me so sad. Already sad, but this would be a further step downhill for them. I'm praying I'm wrong. Nat, do you know anything about this movie yet?

    1. melnewlife, Your feeling seems to be partially correct. I received this information not long ago from an Anonymous commenter: "On Monday, 6/20, I saw Holly (Robinson Peete) on “The Talk”. One of the things they discussed was this movie ("The Journey Ahead"). It sounded like the relationship between the two was more mentor/mentee. HOWEVER, she talked about what a great thing it was to be part of this movie with the other actress playing a queer who was struggling to come out!!!! She indicates how wonderful it is for Hallmark to be more inclusive."

So... the younger woman is struggling with her own insecurities and sexual identity.

It is sad for me, as well, to see the direction this channel is taking.

    2. The Road Ahead was an originally title for The Journey Ahead

Holly Robinson Peete & Mark Humphrey Star in a New Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Original Film ‘The Road Ahead’

Holly Robinson Peete, Kaylee Bryant, and Mark Humphrey star in “The Road Ahead,” a new, original movie coming this summer to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Madeline (Peete), a famous Hollywood actress, & Sarah (Bryant), a wilderness expert, team up to drive cross-country. The road trip has a rocky start, but as the two get to know one another they soon discover some common ground, and unexpectedly help each other face their past mistakes through support & unconditional love.

“This film showcases our breadth and depth as a brand and will bring viewers on an emotional journey. I love seeing women encourage, support & empower others and this truly shines through in this new original.”

    3. Truly sad. Thank you for the clarification. I will be skipping this one for sure.

    4. I wasn't planning on watching that movie at all, but this IS one of those times where I'm not exactly happy to see one of my hunches being right, especially when it involves the sad state that Hallmark has put themselves in. -Maria
