PRESS RELEASE via Great American Media:
NEW YORK, NY – July 19, 2022 – GAC Media, LLC today announced GAC Family will be renamed Great American Family and GAC Living will become Great American Living. The new channel names will debut on air and across digital and social platforms on August 20 along with the return of new original movie premieres to Great American Family. The new monikers align the linear channel names with the company’s FAST channel, Great American Adventures, and Great American Community, a new direct-to-consumer app coming this fall. The four brands will be a part of the company’s new Great American Media master brand.
“As the company expands across different media verticals, renaming our linear networks Great American Family and Great American Living better reflects our vision for each brand and firmly aligns the company under our new Great American Media umbrella,” said Bill Abbott, President and CEO of GAC Media, LLC. “Fans can expect more of the same quality, family-friendly programming they have come to love from our channels, and we look forward to rolling out the new name this summer in time for the return of our original movie premieres.”
As the company’s flagship network, Great American Family will continue to offer family-friendly series, original holiday movies and seasonal romcoms that celebrate faith, family and country. Great American Family previously announced the network’s highly anticipated holiday programming event, Great American Christmas, returns October 28 with all-new original Christmas movies and 24/7 holiday content. As the unscripted companion to Great American Family, Great American Living celebrates family-friendly traditions every day and every season.

My *Quick* Take:
I was wondering if this switch might be taking place after I received some recent press releases from the network, and I noticed GAC Family was repeatedly referred to as Great American Family. And now I know, my hunch was right. It'll take a little time, but I'm sure I'll get used to calling both networks by their new names as the Christmas season rolls around. I do wonder how Great American Family will abbreviate their channel now. Will they be GAF, GA Family, or something else? I think I like GA Family best, but we'll see what they decide. Maybe they won't abbreviate it at all.
Whatever title they give their channels, I'm just glad they provide quality, heartwarming, family-friendly entertainment. What do you think? Do you like this rebranding of GAC Family to Great American Family and GAC Living to Great American Living? Please share your thoughts in comments below.
Re. "Will they be GAF, GA Family, or something else? I think I like GA Family best...." Yeah, GAF is too close to "gaff," not a pleasant association. (My previous name, TV Senior is getting associated with Google and getting errors. Either that, or the Captcha is not popping up and getting errors.)
ReplyDeleteTV Senior, Good point about the abbreviation. It should be interesting to see what they decide.
DeleteSorry you were having trouble commenting with your Google account. I seem to have the same trouble when I try to use my iPhone, just like you described. If you use Anonymous and sign off with TV Senior, then we will still know it's you!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! :)
Keep GAC Family & Living Channels

Something like that
It's an improvement, but still not quite right!
ReplyDeleteseems like a smart move
ReplyDeleteI agree! The 'C' in GAC didn't really have any meaning, other than Christmas, but that's not all year - so I think this name switch will be better for the entire network overall.

PS-Big thank you to Net and everyone that sends in movie reviews. It is a good guide.
Gabe's Mom, That is such a kind and thoughtful message of support and encouragement. I feel like Great American Family is still in the construction phase, and it's a fun process to be there and watch from the ground up!

I agree with you Net. GA Family sounds the best to me and seems easier to remember.
