Over the years there have been numerous Hallmark movies with a patriotic military theme, mostly at Christmastime. Even though it was hard to do, I narrowed the list down to the Top 20 based on the feedback and reviews I’ve received and read on-line.
Be sure to vote for ALL of your favorite Patriotic Movies (listed in alphabetical order) below. Voting will take place from today, Flag Day, until the Fourth of July!

What about For Love & Honor & Banner 4th of July (Family Reunion)? Also, 4th of July movies: When Sparks Fly, Sister of the Bride, & Kiss at Pine Lake
ReplyDeleteThose are good movies, too, with a patriotic theme and all of them were on my list, as well. It was hard to narrow the selection down to just 20 films. For Love & Honor is a nice military movie. As for the others, I tried to choose movies that focused on a military theme.
DeleteWow...until I saw your list, I hadn't realized how many...and how many really good...movies there are with patriotic themes! With the exception of only a couple, all of these will be getting my vote!
ReplyDeleteMark 25, Yes! There have been many great patriotic movies on Hallmark over the years. I had others on my list, as well, but thought it best to narrow it down.
DeleteThank you, my friend, for voting! :)
I had the same trouble Mark! I think I ended up voting for all but 2 or 3! LOL
DeleteAllie, thank you for voting! Glad you had many favorites to support! :)
DeleteUSS Christmas is better have closed Caption because when I found out if there’s no closed caption all those years that made deaf & HOH people frustrated
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry they haven't had a closed captioning option for you on this movie in the past. I hope they correct that for future airings.
DeleteSo many good choices here! -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, I agree! I hope Hallmark keeps making movies like these, but I don't recall any military themes in their Christmas movies last year... but then again, I didn't see them all (due to content), so I may have missed something.
DeleteDid you remove this poll last night but it’s back today?
ReplyDeleteIf you change to add movies on a poll
The poll did not change. There was a small glitch with it working on all devices, but that was fixed and should be fine now.
DeleteMy patriotic films are Home For Christmas Day,A Veteran's Christmas, Christmas Homecoming and U.S.S. Christmas
ReplyDeleteChris, Those are excellent patriotic movie picks! Thank you for participating! :)
DeleteThe Lost Valentine? Betty White's Hall of Fame movie.
ReplyDeleteDenise, That movie is a wonderful tribute to our military, as well, and the only reason I didn't include it, is because it's a Hallmark Hall of Fame. There are many HHOF movies that center around our military, but I wasn't sure if enough people would be familiar with the other titles. So, I decided just to focus on the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries military films.
DeleteThe Lost Valentine is definitely a touching patriotic film. In fact, it was the winner for Best TV Movie on my site for 2011!!! You can see those results here:

Thanks
DeleteGot some great news: GAC Family is hosting their first Christmas in July event over the 4th of July weekend! All 12 of last year's movies will air, including some new movies that they bought! -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, Yes! This is very exciting news from GAC Family! I think having their Christmas in July movie event on the 4th of July holiday weekend is good.
DeleteI knew they couldn't go all month long and compete with Hallmark, but hopefully this will be a successful start for Great American Christmas!!! π
Plus, I'm curious what these newly acquired movies will be??? I'm guessing it will be more movies like Snowmance and Christmas Angel, which aired on the channel last year, but originally premiered elsewhere.
I just voted for Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Truth Be Told and Impossible Dream! That's the best option in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for voting! Signed, Sealed, Delivered is always a great choice, but I especially love these two patriotic films! :)
DeleteThis is the only SS&D movie (that I'm aware of) that was done in 2 parts. What a powerful movie! Lots of tears were shed.
DeleteDiana, I know just how you feel! When I see that amazing rescue at the end with that gorgeous song being sung, "The Impossible Dream," my heart is full of all sorts of emotions... for that mother and our military. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
DeleteOnly just realised I could vote for any number a day - thought it was limited to just one! - Florence
ReplyDeleteFlorence, I was trying to see how giving everyone 1 vote per person per day would go on this, before I start up the It's a Wonderful Movie Awards. I'm still not certain about it. I actually prefer one voting process per person, but it seems some people always find a way to get around that with cheating somehow.
DeleteAnyway, I'm still making up my mind, but I would love to know yours (and others) thoughts on it - before the IAWM Awards begin! :)
Hi Net - I would think (hope) that most of your visitors to this site wouldn't cheat and would follow whatever instructions you give, so I wouldn't focus too much on the cheating. Personally I would go with one voting process per person, but let the person vote up to, say, five favorites in that category. My two cents worth.
DeleteMark 25, Thank you! I appreciate your two cents - and I have decided to go with the one voting process per person for the It's a Wonderful Movie Awards, as I 've always done in the past. I know there are still ways people can cheat, but hopefully, most will respect the voting rules. In the past, I have a lot of visitors, who are not regulars, come in to vote. So... we'll see how it goes this year! :)
DeleteI must admit I'm a purist and would only have one vote per person for the whole poll!
ReplyDeleteBut maybe this wouldn't work here.
As you say there are some who are deiermined to push their favourites on and will always find a way to circumvent voting restrcictions.
Basically it's whatever you yourself feels most comfortable with - Florence
Florence, I feel the same way about the one voting process per person, and I have decided that's how it will be for the It's a Wonderful Movie Awards. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on it.
DeleteI love this! What a clever idea Net to honor our military....from June 14th, Flag Day through July 4th, Independence Day!! And like Mark 25 said, you really don't realize how many military themed movies there are until you put them together. Some of my favorites here! But one stands out to me...The Christmas Card!! Thanks Net!!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, So glad you enjoyed this Patriotic Poll! The Christmas Card will always be one of my absolute favorites, as well. It's extra special, to me, that the leads were never in another Hallmark movie, which makes those characters they portrayed seem even more real. I think I know nearly all of the lines by heart before they even say them now. I'm sure your the same way!
DeleteThank you for voting! :)
Love and Sunshine is my fav Hallmark Movie! I haven't watched any Hallmark movies since last Christmas and I really don't miss it.
ReplyDeleteMisty
Misty, I agree... Love and Sunshine is a wonderful movie and fantastic tribute to our military. I happened to catch some of it recently, and just thoroughly enjoyed all of the patriotism!
DeleteI can absolutely understand your feelings toward Hallmark these days. As for their movies this year, I would recommend The Wedding Veil series and I haven't watched, yet, but I hear Color My World with Love is really good.
Being a Flag Day baby, thank you Net for including it in the patriotic themed period leading up to the 4th of July. That's how we do it in our family too! The celebrations start June 14th! I am sometimes shocked how often Flag Day gets overlooked.
ReplyDeleteSo many nice movies to choose from! At first I didn't read the title well enough and was wondering if A Welcome Home Christmas was on the list too, but it's LT not HM...anyhoo....The Christmas Card is here...so it's a legit list to me!
I think Flag Day should be celebrated more. You are right... it is often overlooked these days. Glad you enjoy this stretch of patriotism! :)
