Movie Reviews:
π« "Loved The Attraction Test on UP! Watched last night and enjoyed every moment. This is a keeper for me." ~kitkat
π« "The Attraction Test is very lovely! 100% recommend." -Maria
π« I just saw “The Attraction Test” on UpTv and it was so cute! I saw Andrew Dunbar in an Aurora Teagarden Mystery and he was so genuine in this movie, really good match with the lead girl. I know the opening scene with the flowers is overdone but I love it, classic romantic comedy stuff π —Paula
Love, Game, Match
Original Air Date: August 14, 2022
Starring: Cristine Prosperi, Sylvia Grace Crim, Dale Moss
Storyline via UPtv: When economics teacher and new-in-town Liz challenges her high school students to create business plans, she has no idea that the class winners will actually start their own matchmaking service! Asked to set up her own profile to help them kickstart their careers, as well as team up with handsome tennis coach Ted to organize the school carnival, Liz must navigate the dynamics of this new school, as well as the algorithms of her own heart.
Movie Review:
πΎ "Found an early download of Love, Game, Match, and I can confirm it's clean and enjoyable! I hope you all like it when it airs." –Maria
πΎ “I screened “Love, Game, Match” through UPtv, and it is very sweet and family-friendly. I enjoyed the low-key chemistry between the leads, Ted and Liz, who are both teachers working at the same school and get tasked with working on the school’s annual Carnival Day together. Liz is an Economics teacher and Ted teaches Physical Education. Two of Liz’s students are working on a matchmaking business for class, and they talk her into trying it. It’s great fun to watch Liz go on several bad dates, while enjoying working with Ted on their carnival project. If you are expecting to see a lot of tennis in this movie, based on the title, then you will be disappointed. There’s some talk about tennis, and we see a few short scenes of practice on the court, but nothing substantial. I did enjoy the additional storyline of Ted’s parents celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and the surprise gift for his father. Overall, there is some stiff acting, here and there, so this wasn’t a grand-slam win for me, but “Love, Game, Match” was still an enjoyable, light-hearted watch. One caution: adults do sip wine at a wine testing and party, but that’s it. Also, I thought the title, “Love, Game, Match,” was very clever– since it relates to both tennis and matchmaking.” ~Net
πΎ "I enjoyed Retreat to Paradise and Love, Game, Match. Both are family-friendly." ~Allie B
πΎ "Putting Up to the Test (Love, Game, Match) is family friendly. When economics teacher named Elizabeth “Liz” Harris moved back to her hometown to be closer to her retired mother & takes a position at Faraday High. She wants to encourage two students named Dylan & Ariella who just launched a dating app: Meet Your Match. Liz agrees to sign up and gets matched on a series of incompatible dates. When Liz volunteers to organize Carnival Day with a tennis coach Theodore “Ted” Packerson? Dylan & Ariella notice their teachers; Coach Packerson & Ms. Harris get along when they’re flirty, putting weird hats, & laughing. Ted matches with Liz on dating site or app. Liz ignored Ted. Dylan & Ariella encourage their Teachers; Coach Packerson & Ms. Harris to photo booth. Unless Ted & Liz have photo taken in a photo booth at Carnival Day. Love, Game, Match was an originally titled Putting Up to the Test." ~Anonymous
πΎ "What I found off-putting about Love Game Match was the fact that Cristine Prosperi is 5'3" while Dale Moss is 6'3". It made them look awkward together" – Florence
The Engagement Plot
Original Air Date: August 21, 2022
Starring: Trevor Donovan, Rachel Boston
Storyline via UPtv: After getting her heart broken on The Price of Love, a wildly popular dating reality show that matches 20-something female contestants with a young, financially successful bachelor, teacher Hanna Knight has returned to her small-town Colorado life and moved on to better things.
Movie Reviews:
π "Loved, loved The Engagement Plot! A keeper for me. Trevor and Rachel did not disappoint. It was interesting to see Trevor act the part of a not so nice guy in the beginning. Love Trevor Donovan!" ~kitkat
π "Watched The Engagement Plot and really liked the involvement of faith. Wasn’t crazy about scheme about engagement but glad true feelings overcame. Really exposed the lack of reality in reality shows and there manipulation. Makes me feel even better I’ve never watched one." ~JoCo
π "The Engagement Plot - What a fun, engaging, family-friendly movie! Loved Trevor Donovan and Rachel Boston on screen together; they had so much chemistry, it was a joy to watch! The premise at the start is a reality show, like The Bachelor, but trust me, it’s definitely a G-rated version. The women vying for Will’s heart (that’s Trevor Donovan) are a bit catty and rude towards one of the contestants, Hanna (portrayed by Rachel Boston), who they labeled as Holy Hanna, since she teaches Sunday school and wears a cross necklace throughout the movie. The only thing I was unsure of was Will’s faith. Since Hanna’s relationship with God is so important to her, I would think it would also be important to her to be with a man who feels the same. The most we got was that Hanna mentioned that Will respected her faith. Some of my favorite moments were Hanna’s talks with her father, who gently gave her godly advice and guidance. Plus, Hanna’s best-friend was quirky and super sweet! And… Will’s driver, Leo, was great at giving Will his blunt opinions. There were many thoughtful and witty lines throughout the movie. Note: there is a fake engagement, so there is some lying, but characters eventually succumb to their guilty conscience. Overall, The Engagement Plot is entertaining, lively, and light-hearted… a delightful watch! I look forward to seeing this movie again on UPtv!" ~ Net
π "JoCo, I too loved the faith element in The Engagement Plot. Forgot to mention this in my comment earlier." ~kitkat
π "Oh my goodness, The Engagement Plot is so lovely!!" –Maria
π "The Engagement Plot Although this movie was generally well received there were actually a fair number of poor reviews. For once though I am in total agreement with everyone here. I thoroughly enjoyed this, certainly Trevor Donovan's best outing since USS Christmas the rest forgettable e.g. Aloha With Love which looked interesting but was decidedly average or the simply awful Nantucket Noel. Trevor and Rachel Boston had good chemistry together - Rachel had a wry sense of humour which shone through and their interaction made for great viewing - she displayed her emotions perfectly. However, one downside for me was the fact that Ms Boston was obviouly pregnant while filming this and while they tried to hide it I found it rather distracting. The first part of the film was OTT but then it would have to be - since when did Reality TV have anything to do with reality?! I thoroughly enjoyed the performances of Will's down-to-earth driver who was forthcoming in his opinions and Hannah's laid-back father who had a laissez fair outlook on life but was always there for her. I would like to think someone at Hallmark might have been watching so they could see how a movie should end! - lovely romantic finish with the i's dotted and the t's crossed.. It was such a delight to at long last see Trevor Donovan back in a role which was worthy of his talent." Florence's rating - 8
Styled with Love

Movie Review:

π·π "Styled with Love is a DVR keeper, too." ~Namegirl
I hope you find a movie on UPtv to enjoy in August. I'm most looking forward to seeing "The Engagement Plot" with Trevor Donovan and Rachel Boston. Trevor has talked about this movie quite frequently on social media since they filmed it, and I think he and Rachel look so cute together. By the way, Rachel was expecting her little baby girl back when they filmed it. UPDATE: See movie reviews above.
Please note: I have not pre-screened the new UPtv movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.
I'd been wondering where The Engagement Plot would end up. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteAgree, Denise... It's good we finally get to see it!
DeleteYay - this is great news, just made my weekend.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't expecting much from UP because they only aired 1 new movie last July and 3 in August.
6 of these have come from Reel One Entertainment and I was particularly hoping that Styled With Love with Rachel Bles and Dennis Andres would show up.
Love On Fire would appear to have been aired somewhere before because there are nearly 100 ratings for it but unfortunately the overall score is a low 5.7.
I'll be interested to see where The Engagement Plot has come from.
I haven't been able to find out but you would have expected Rachel Boston and Trevor Donovan from one of the market leaders.
Both Rachel and Trevor usually put in good performances but I am slighly perturbed that in the blurb Rachel's character is described as a "twenty-something".
Rachel is now in her 40s so we'll have to ee how that works out.
Incidentally I posted a review of Heart Of The Matter about a week ago bu it hasn't appeared - Florence
Florence, I was also pleasantly surprised to see The Engagement Plot... finally!
DeleteBrian Bird, co-creator of When Calls the Heart, is also the producer behind this and Aloha with Love (both with Trevor, of course)... so I imagine some deal was worked out to show both films on UP,... and maybe more???
Trevor mentioned back in May, again, that The Engagement Plot was coming soon... so I've been waiting to see where it would officially end up.
That age thing you mentioned for Rachel's character is weird. She looks like she could be in her 20's, of course, but still that's just not right.
I searched through my comment area and spam folder, but could not find your review on Heart of the Matter. I'm so sorry. I will search again, though... just to be sure I didn't miss it among all the spam stuff. I completely understand if you don't want to type it again. But, I must admit... I would love to know your take on it, too!!!
Glad you enjoyed this UP movie news! I was really surprised to receive all of this move news for July and August today. It kind of makes it feel like Summer is flying by. Anyway... I've gotta run... I have some yard work to finish up before dark.
Glad to see The Engagement Plot is finally scheduled! I’ve been looking forward to it! Putting Brian Bird, Trevor Donovan and Rachel Boston together. It should be great! The trailer makes it look like a fun movie with some real life elements.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Trevor Donovan...was wondering when and where this would show.
ReplyDeleteThese movies sound awesome. Always good to watch actors making good content. While I like Rachel Boston, looking forward to Game Set Match and Styled with π as well. I like Dennis Andres and Christina Prosperi. Thanks Net, for sharing.
ReplyDelete5.7 is pretty good for a tv romance movie.

ReplyDeleteMaria, Thank you for this review, plus your reviews on Planning on Forever and Love on Fire. It is especially nice to hear Love, Game, Match is family-friendly in advance.
DeleteYour reviews have all been posted! :)
What I found off-putting about Love Game Match was the fact that Cristine Prosperi is 5'3" while Dale Moss is 6'3".
