Wild West Chronicles to Premiere on INSP this Spring...

Press Release via INSP:

INSP Sets Premiere Date
for Historical Docudrama Series
Wild West Chronicles

Inspired by the true tales of famous characters and unsung heroes of the American West, the series will make its exclusive television debut on Sunday, April 11th at 5:30PM ET.

(Indian Land, SC – February 24, 2021) General-entertainment network INSP, the leader in Western & Western-adjacent programming, has set the premiere date for Wild West Chronicles. The unique historical docudrama series, based on true stories of the old west, will premiere on Sunday, April 11th at 5:30PM ET. Craig Miller, VP of Original Unscripted Programming and Development for INSP, made the announcement.

Wild West Chronicles is a unique twist on the historical docudrama,” said Miller. “We didn’t want to do a typical docudrama with a bunch of talking-head experts, so we built a concept around a newspaper reporter who travels the frontier during the late 1800s to uncover the truth behind the wildest tales of the West. As he chases down stories, viewers meet notorious criminals, courageous lawmen, and everyday heroes of the Old West. With a diverse group of characters featured in the series, there is sure to be someone there for everyone to love or loathe, or both.”

The anthology series follows the legendary Bat Masterson, once a formidable gunslinger and lawman, after he trades his sheriff’s badge for a pen and becomes a newspaper reporter. In each episode, Masterson tracks down eyewitnesses who share their vivid memories of Wild Bill Hickok, Stagecoach Mary, Butch Cassidy, Bass Reeves, and other remarkable characters of the Old West. As they tell their stories, a bygone age of hardship and lawlessness is brought to life when fearless lawmen rode tall in the saddle and vicious criminals fought to escape justice.

The 15 episodes of Wild West Chronicles will air on INSP starting on Sunday, April 11th at 5:30PM ET

Even though this is not a new movie, I thought many of you would be interested in this show - based on our love of When Calls the Heart and other period dramas.

INSP is a wonderful channel that shows family programming, like The Waltons and classic westerns, like Bonanza. It sounds like the Wild West Chronicles will be a fascinating series about the history of the old west.

Hope you enjoy it!

  1. Will JL Family Ranch and JL Family Ranch The Wedding Gift count as a western?

    1. Sure, Chris, if you want it to count. I think the first one, especially, is more of a modern type of western.

  3. This looks really fun!! I'm going to have to put a note on my calendar to remember to watch it. One of my brothers likes to watch the westerns on the INSP channel when he's not too busy with life, so I'll have to remember to call him about this series. I like old westerns but I prefer the new western shows, specifically love watching the rodeos on the Cowboy Channel (love that the rodeos are opened with prayer and the National Anthem -- I highly recommend the Cowboy Channel if you like that kind of thing!).

  4. My husband loves westerns! He will be happy about this. We both grew up on farms. That is why he bought a farm after we settled in the city. Westerns have always been his favorite TV shows. Thanks Net!

    1. Kitkat, isn't it funny how farms are just part of your DNA even after you no longer live on one. I, also, grew up on a farm. Horses (lots of horse shows!), cattle (lots of cattle!), pigs, tractors, combines (lots of hours in the combines!), lots of dirt, lots of hard work, lots of fresh organic veggies before they were "cool"! My parents have passed on and my siblings and I are all middle-aged and we've sold all the farms and moved on to other business ventures. (The last of our family farms we sold was to an Amish family, so it's nice to know it will continue to be farmed and not developed into condos or something.) But somehow that love of the land and of the smell of earth just won't leave us. One of my brothers retired from the Navy and has other business ventures but he couldn't resist the draw of farming and just bought a cattle farm and is doing the grass-fed beef thing; his wife is NOT a farm girl so it's all rather amusing. And just last night my sister and I were toying with the idea of buying some land together and getting out of the suburbs (and out of this crazy lockdown state where we live!!). It's funny... other people roll up their car windows and close the vents when they drive past a "smelly" farm, but we roll our windows down and inhale the "fresh" air!! :)

    2. kitkat & Jane, That's why we are all such great friends... we are all farm girls. Like both of you, I also grew up on the farm. In fact, I still live on the family farm. It's such a wonderful life, and I love the country!

Land really is one of the best investments there is. Being out here on the farm during the lockdown - didn't feel like a lockdown at all. We were so blessed to have our land and God's open country. I know what you mean about that earthy smell, it really does smell like home to me, too! :)

    3. Net & Jane, there is something that feeds the soul on a farm. We rent out the land to another farmer who plants soybeans, cotton, and corn, so we get to see those grow and be harvested. We have a nice size farmhouse fully furnished so we can spend weekends when we like. It is really beautiful up there. We have a pond stocked with fish and a small creek runs through the farm. We have family gatherings on the farm where there is plenty of room for all who come.

My husband pays a lot to get every western channel he can. He must have the cowboy channel. If he watches TV, it is a western.

We both have businesses in the city.
