Hearties were stunned to find out that Lori's on-screen sun, Cody (Carter Ryan Evancic) had also been excluded from the debut.

The show wasted no time explaining what happened to Abigail. When the episode, “Heart of a Mountie” kicked off, we immediately saw Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow) sharing that Abigail had headed out East to tend to her ill mother. But then she revealed the following:
“Abigail is much more than a friend. She’s family. And I will miss her and Cody deeply. We all will. But we must get by as best we can.”“Sad that Cody isn’t on” and “I will miss Cody.” Another simply demanded, “We want Cody back and we want him back now!!”
