Winterfest Weekend!!!
When I watched the trailer for “A Royal Winter”, there was a beautiful white castle that was featured. Curious about where the castle was located, I did some research. That castle is the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany. Why would Hallmark show footage of a castle from Germany when the movie was filmed in Romania? Wouldn’t it make more sense if Hallmark had shown an image of a Romanian castle?
ReplyDeleteYou might be surprised how many times exterior shots come from other places in a movie or television show. The director might have been looking for a certain look and didn't find it in Romania. Also, there are companies that specialize in stock video footage that movie and television producers use. There is a special effects company outside of Hollywood and the man who owns it is an avid traveler. Wherever he went he hired local crews to take footage of these places and he then sold the footage to those needing them for their shows. In the end, the director of the movie probably didn't find what they wanted and went with something else.
DeleteI guess they just used stock footage for certain things (maybe the German castle was more aesthetically appealing?), but the movie was definitely filmed in Romania. There must be some reason why it was beneficial to use footage of a castle located elsewhere.
DeleteSome of Hallmark's other royal movies have been filmed in Romania, and now I am curious to go back and watch them to see if there are shots of castles that are not actually located in Romania! Lol
Thanks for the information about that! I am really looking forward to this movie!

It's kind of ridiculous not admitting that the movie was filmed in Romania, when there are alot of Romanian actors and places and buildings in it...don't tell me... the actors were also photoshopedππππbtw...no need to respond,it was a rhetorical question.
DeleteHave a nice day☺π
Thanks, Net! I sure hope we find some neat scoops at the TCA event! :)

I was a "Cinderella" type movie fan from long, long, long ago so I'm especially fond of the "Royal" movies....hope this one is a good one!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I was going to disagree about which castle it was, but I watched the trailer again and it does show Neuschwanstein Castle. However, it doesn't even appear in the movie, instead it appears to be a photoshopped mashup based on Alcazar, Spain stuck in behind SighiΘoara Citadel, Romania.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed both the Hallmark movies, A Royal Winter and the Fixer Upper Mystery!
ReplyDeleteSo looking forward to the next Fixer Upper Mystery in April! Wish it was sooner!

A Fixer Upper Mystery 2 is upcoming on April 2017
ReplyDeleteI've been to Neuschwanstein and I didn't see the trailer but the castle at the beginning of the movie is not Neuschwanstein and I can't find where it is!
ReplyDeleteThe castle is located in Alcazar Spain and they took pictures at various angles, but look up Alcazr Spain castles and you will see a lot of pictures that tells this is the castle
