No Dashing Through the Snow? That was, by far, my favorite new movie of 2015. :(
ReplyDeleteOops, missed Dashing at first (and second) glance somehow. Ignore/delete/whatever my earlier comment as, obviously, I'm blind.
ReplyDeleteI loved that one, too... Overall, I think it was well loved by many!!! :)
DeleteNow, this is what I've been waiting for!! I was hoping "The Christmas Note" would get a nod; really, really loved that one. Thanks for all your hard work, Net!!
ReplyDeleteI know... It was definitely in contention! It's so hard to narrow it down to only 12, especially with all the wonderful Christmas movie choices we have now.
Delete123 days Christmas in July. And...
ReplyDelete230 days Christmas TV Schedule 2016.
Oh my! Wow! Time seems to be flying! Thanks for the countdown update!!!
DeleteI've just started re-watching a lot of the movies from this past Christmas season, and it's so much fun! Very uplifting.
ReplyDeleteAwww, that's wonderful! I love the way they make us all feel so good inside. I've been watching lately a few bits and pieces of some of my favorites, too! A great escape from what's on TV today! You are so right... Very uplifting!!!
DeleteCan't believe Angel of Christmas didn't make this list!
ReplyDeleteYes, that was such a fun one, too!
DeleteAngel of Christmas was different from the rest because there was some mystery in the story line. I really do enjoy your site. I know it's hard to choose with so many goods ones to chose from.
DeleteOn February 29th, I asked if “When Calls the Heart: New Year’s Wish” had any chances of getting nominated for the “It’s a Wonderful Movie” awards. You responded by saying that you “don’t want to give any nominees away” but that I “might want to look for it in Poll #3”. You also said that you were getting great responses from fans about the movie. “When Calls the Heart” has not been included in any of the voting categories and your response to my question has been deleted. Is there any chance that you would reconsider giving “When Calls the Heart” a nomination?
ReplyDeleteYes, I know. I struggled with this one, as I had intended for When Calls the Heart: New Years Wish to end up here in this category, and then after further consideration, I thought it wouldn't be the best idea, if a non-Christmas movie, actually won Favorite Christmas movie. So, that's why it's not there, but now I wish I had included it in the favorite movie category... So I'm going to do a separate poll after this one, exclusively for When Calls the Heart, to see where it would fit in there. I appreciate you asking, as I was going to share this news when I post the new poll!
DeleteNo 'The Magic Stocking'? It was one of my favs too! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMisty
Oh, Misty... I liked that one, too! Like I said, it's so hard to narrow it down, when there are so many good ones!!! And, with even more coming this year... I think it will only get harder!!!
DeleteI hope it comes out on DVD. Thanks for the fun polls!

Thank you for your sweet comment! I'm so glad you enjoy it every year... Happy Voting!!!
ReplyDeleteAlmost impossible to narrow it down because so many of them were really good. I'm still watching many of them. With so many channels providing us with new original movies every year I find it impossible to watch them all at Christmas. So I record them and will usually watch one a month during the year. I just watched "12 Gifts of Christmas" last week and it was wonderful to have a "new" Christmas movie to watch that I've never seen. And in the middle of March no less! Once a month is enough for me to enjoy the movies without running the risk of over-dosing on Christmas all year long!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean, Susan. I tried to catch as many as I possibly could at Christmastime, but it's impossible to see everything, especially at such a busy time of year. I finished watching all of them in February, which was great... cause I always love to hold onto Christmas a little longer after Dec. 25th, and that definitely did the trick for me! Now, I enjoy a few every month, whenever I'm in the Christmassy mood! Love that you do it, too! Blessings, Net
DeleteHi Net and all --
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to put this out there since the start of the year, but wasn't sure when...but now seems like a good time.
I was frankly somewhat disappointed with the Christmas movies for 2015, especially compared with those of 2014 and especially 2013. And the ones that disappointed me most were the ones with the familiar faces. For example, I thought Lacey Chabert's Christmas Melody was not as good as Royal Christmas, Candace Cameron's Christmas Detour was weaker than Christmas Under Wraps (which was weaker than Let It Snow), Alicia Witt's I'm Not Ready for Christmas was much less enjoyable than Christmas at Cartwrights (which I found less enjoyable than Very Merry Mix-up), Katrina Law's 12 Gifts of Christmas I enjoyed but not as much as Snow Bride, and so on.
Why? Some of the plots seemed too predictable or repetitive, some of the acting was below par (hello Ms. Carey), but primarily I found the chemistry between the leads was missing! And I feel a major reason for this was a lack of humor. Humorous interplay between the leads adds a necessary spark, which adds to chemistry, and to me there was a definite lack of humor in the 2015 Christmas movies. Two of my all-time favorite Hallmark Christmas movies are The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and A Very Merry Mix-up, and a major (although not the only) reason is the humor between the lead characters. (And although not a Christmas movie, I enjoy All of my Heart because of the chemistry... which includes the humorous interaction...between the leads.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth. My hope is that the writers/directors put some humor back into the 2016 Christmas movies.
Does anyone else feels the same way?
Mark-
DeleteI agree with all your points, especially with your comparison to previous seasons. I do think that 2013 was one of the best years ever for Christmas movies, and that will be a hard year to beat for quality. But since then, Hallmark has churned out an ever-increasing amount of movies so it's near impossible for them to all be great. Unfortunately, there are going to be some where the chemistry isn't right or the plot lines are oddly familiar. But hopefully 2016 will be an up year. I still enjoyed quite a few of the movies from this past year. I thought Crown for Christmas was well done despite the fact that the plot has been done many times before.
Mark, So true! I, too, like Susan above, agree with all your points!
DeleteNow that you mention it... I, too, have preferred most of the actresses you mentioned in their first Christmas movies over the ones they have done afterwards.
I will even go back another step back with two you mentioned and say that I loved Candace's movie "Moonlight and Mistletoe" and Lacey's "Matchmaker Santa" better than the ones made since. Don't get me wrong, I love their other movies, too, but the originals are still best to me, including Snow Bride, even though I really enjoyed 12 gifts!
Thank you, Mark, for sharing your 2 cents! I enjoyed reading your comment! :)
I was just wondering if you are going to continue the "It's A Wonderful Movie" awards.
ReplyDeleteYes! Yes! Yes! They are coming! I Promise! It has just taken me a little longer than anticipated, but I'm hoping middle of next week!!! :)
DeleteWhere do we see the results?
