  8. A Very Merry Mix-Up is my FAVORITE Hallmark movie!!!! I love Mark Wiebe and Alicia Witt's chemistry! The whole movie is sweet and very down to earth. Hallmark should have Mark Wiebe in a lot more of their movies. I highly recommend this movie.

I watched this one again last night, too! It's one of my top 5 all time Hallmark Christmas favorites, and it never disappoints. Another one of my favorites, "The Christmas Ornament," is on HMM tonight.

  12. I loved the movie BUT am confused about the clock he gave her that stopped at 11:58, they made a big deal out of it as though it was the same time Grandpa met his wife but he met her at 8:42. It didn't ruin the movie but if you are going to put something like that in the movie at least remember that the viewers are paying attention.

I'll try to explain it. It's not supposed to mirror Grandpa's story. It's supposed to be a kind of callback or nod to the clockmaker's story and to Grandpa's story, and Grandpa's story was kind of a tip of the hat to the clockmaker's story.

When Matt and Alice have their run-in in the airport, meaning when he knocks into her, causing the coffee to spill and causing her phone to be ruined, look at her phone. It says 11:58.

At the beginning of the movie Alice had been telling her boyfriend/almost fiancΓ© the story about a clockmaker and his true love, and how a clock stopped at a certain point and everyone was frozen in time, as the two lovebirds ran to each other.

When her own clock stops, Alice says her goodbyes to her fiancΓ©/boyfriend and runs out. On her way out of the house, she sees that her fiancΓ©'s parents are each, essentially, frozen in time (or just not moving).

She then asks Matt how he got the clock to stop. He didn't realized that it stopped. But when he sees the time on it, he remembers that it was the time when they met.

The only problem I have with that is that it's not really when they met -- they actually met when they were filling out paperwork in the airport. But what it actually was when the little clock stopped, was the time when the coffee spilled and Alice's phone was ruined -- 11:58.

Another cute moment -- when Alice and Matt are reunited after she leaves her fiancΓ©'s house and his frozen-in-time parents, she says "It WAS raining..." That's a reference to what Matt told her when they were at the hospital - "...love walks through the rain" (because his former girlfriend wouldn't get out of the car and walk in the rain for him).

It's a great movie, with some clever moments!

    2. That was beautifully done, Sherry. It is thought of as a comedy... but you are so right, it does have some interesting, clever stories. I always love the rain reference and in the end, how she walks in the rain for him. It is a very sweet movie!

    3. Sherry - That is a great analysis of one of my favorite Christmas (not just Hallmark) movies. When she runs out of her fiance's house, I never made the connection between his parents non-movements and time stopping. I just thought the mom was meditating and the dad was sleeping! So thanks for opening my eyes to this!

  13. What is Matt's last line in the movie? He is making a comment about the Civil War wedding ring, but I cannot get it.

  14. This movie is one of my favorite holiday stories. Can anyone tell me what Matt says at the very end as he and Alice are looking at the Civil War era wedding ring? His line is the final line in the movie.

    1. I love this movie too and watch it over and over again. I thibnk she says something like "do you know how much you can get for that" and he says "I could never sell this" then the clocks go off in the whole store, at 11:58, they both laugh and kiss (I think). I think it was cute he said he could never sell this cause Alice was always saying she could never sell her fathers shop, and also they are both the same and really belong together cause they love old things and he was nearly late to picking up her mom because of getting the treasure. This movie is so wonderful, I love when she realizes she is at the wrong house, and dad says "cant you just stay here, we love having you here". They loved her and she loved them, after just a day. They fit so well together. I love the "what am I tasting, am I tasting ALLSPICE (dad and her say together) and he says "I like this girl already". Then she doesn't know what to call Grandpa when she goes to her fiancΓ©es family. Such a wonderful, one of my top 5.
