via Hallmark:

Three-time Emmy® and two-time Golden Globe® nominee Sherry Stringfield (“ER”) and Katie Leclerc (“Switched at Birth”) star in the World Premiere of “Beverly Lewis’ The Confession,” a Hallmark Channel Original Movie on Saturday, May 11 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C). The dramatic sequel to Hallmark Channel’s highly acclaimed original movie, “Beverly Lewis’ The Shunning,” which first premiered in 2011, is based on the second novel of The Heritage of Lancaster County Books from New York Times best-selling author Beverly Lewis. The series is based on some of the heartbreaking experiences of Lewis’ maternal grandmother, who was born into the Old Order Mennonite Church, which became the genesis of Lewis’ fascination with her Plain heritage. Katie Lapp (Leclerc) is an innocent young Amish woman who has ventured out of her small Lancaster community for the first time after a painful incident led to her “shunning” from the very township that raised her. As she takes on the unfamiliar outside world, she is desperate to track down her birth mother, a wealthy and generous woman named Laura Mayfield-Bennett (Stringfield) who is sadly dying of cancer. With only a few months to live, Laura and her husband Dylan (Adrian Paul, “Highlander”) prepare Laura’s estate and will. When Dylan, a greedy gambling addict, finds out he will inherit close to nothing from his wife, he hires an out-of-work actress, Alyson (Julia Whelan, “Once and Again”), to feign as Laura’s long-lost Amish daughter—hoping Laura will take the bait and leave her entire estate to her only child.

  1. Just a note to say thank you for posting re "The Confession." I played Samuel Lapp in "The Shunning" and just wrapped on a reprise of the same role in "The Confession." To be associated with The Hallmark Channel is any actor's dream. Michael Landon Jr. makes movies for people who are not afraid to see the good in life. It's a real blessing to me to be a part of that and to do a film my mom and family can watch :)

    best to you,
    Bill Oberst Jr.

    1. Dear Mr. Oberst,
Your comment was heartfelt. I am not ashamed to say that I watched both movies and was moved to tears, to anger.(I hope that the guitar you smashed was a real junker!) And felt you played your part absolutely realistically. I go out to the Lancaster area every couple of weeks to deliver doors and windows to many builders who employ the Amish. You fit the part superbly, kudos to the person in charge of casting.
Your sentiments, "Michael Landon Jr. makes movies for people who are not afraid to see the good in life. It's a real blessing to me to be a part of that and to do a film my mom and family can watch." is absolutely spot on. God bless you, your family and your mom. I hope you play in any sequels to the previous movies. We need good people like you to represent the film arts. Thanks and keep up the great attitude and acting.

Thank you for sharing your experience of creating the movie sequel, The Confession, here with us.

We look forward to seeing the continuation of this story on the Hallmark Channel in January 2013.

I must also add - that you and the actress who portrays your wife, are so wonderful together in the first movie - that I look forward to seeing you both together again in this one.

Again, Thank You! Hope it does very well for you.

  11. Will there be a sequel to the confession? So Katie and Daniel can get back together?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Great great movie but I was slightly disappointed (okay more then a little!) when Daniel and Katie didn't get back together and she stayed English. All in all an awesome move but please PLEASE tell me a third movie will be created!!I NEED to see what happens! One downfall of both The Shunning and The Confession (especially The Shunning) is that they end at the MOST in opportune times resulting in severe suspense! Again I need that 3rd movie!

  16. Loved the movie - hope there will be a sequel. I didn't want it to stop when it did!

  17. I just need a sequel so that Daniel and Katie can get married, like he said at the last. Just loved, loved, loved the movie! Wish all movies could be made like that. Don't need all the filth that's out there for our children and teenagers. Just need good family movies and a lot more of them. So proud of these movies. I'm sure God is well pleased!

    1. I have to agree with you 100%. I would so love more Christian movies. They are clean entertainment for the entire family and pleasing to watch. Some are real tear jerkers though. Loved The Shunning sad that I don't have cable to seeThe Confession. We will it be out on DVD?

  18. The Amish NEVER wear makeup or wedding rings. The Shunning really bothered me because it depicted the Amish so incorrectly. I know this because my paternal grandparents were Amish......

  19. Pleaase add a third movie; we can't be left in this suspense. Don't wait another year, please. Your movies are so very much appreciated and we need more of this type of entertainment. Tell us there are more to come, so much more of Katie's life and the love and kidness she inherited from her biological mom and her addopted Amish mom. Go to be move, since that necklace is on layaway and he says he will marry her someday.

  20. Loved both movies! I too hope the third book is made into a movie. But meanwhile I'll be purchasing the book, "The Reckoning" as soon as I can get to a bookstore! Bravo!!!!
