Hallmark Channel's Spring into Love movie premiere...
Storyline: Years ago, Maggie Bailey (Hunter King) realized she had a particular skill set for being an ace bridesmaid -- and she went pro. Now she uses her talents to help brides navigate the tricky emotional and social dynamics that go along with planning their big day in addition to the practical. Her latest client, Alexis Shepard (Francesca Bianchi), is the daughter of Columbus’ mayor who is up for re-election. Alexis’ wedding promises to be the event of the summer with lots of scrutiny, so the mayor’s team hires Maggie to join the bridal party and help keep everything on track. But no one can know that Maggie is a hired bridesmaid, so she is introduced as Alexis’ old friend Maisie. Unfortunately, Henry Whittington (Chandler Massey), an ambitious local reporter assigned to the society story is sniffing around hoping to get close to the mayor for a scoop on the pending development of local park land. To pull off her assignment, Maggie must coordinate three unhelpful bridesmaids and keep Henry focused on the wedding while hiding her identity, even as she begins to grow closer to him.
Please note: I haven't pre-screened this new movie, The Professional Bridesmaid. If you'd like to post a review on whether this film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

Sunday, April 9, 2023:
Storyline: Dawn Spencer (Schull) approaches the Easter holiday trying to balance being a single parent while working to get out of the debt left behind by her ex-husband. Feeling overwhelmed, Dawn unearths a bracelet she made years earlier and stored away. She created it using four beads with the intention of using each one as a reminder to count the blessings in her life. As Dawn begins to focus on the good, her faith is renewed, and her life takes a positive turn. Thanks to the support of Dawn’s church community and the encouragement by Ben (Marks), who recently came into her life, the blessing bracelets help take her down a path she never could have imagined.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter! I'm rejoicing, along with you, that Jesus overcame death so that those of us who trust in Him could also overcome death and one day live in Heaven with Him for all eternity! May the joy of that promise fill us up to overflowing and flow out of us this Easter! May we grow abundantly in His amazing love!
As Christians reflect this Easter, we acknowledge that God loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be crucified, buried, and raised on the third day - so that when we repent, we can receive God's forgiveness, be saved from the penalty of our sins and experience eternal life with Him!
If you'd like to ask Jesus in your heart, you may do so with this prayer...
Happy Easter to this wonderful site!
ReplyDeleteI've decided to let my annoyance with Hallmark go for this weekend to watch The Blessing bracelet. I better not regret this.

What a lovely post celebrating Easter, Net! I happened upon your site a couple months ago and I'm so glad I did. It's nice to see so many religious viewing options, and I like the scriptures you share about Jesus. I'm planning to watch The Passion Play, Mary, Mother of Jesus, and The Blessing Bracelet this weekend. Happy Easter! Paula
ReplyDeleteWishing everyone here a most joyous and blessed Easter! Alleluia!
ReplyDeleteA Christmas Miracle For Christmas is the best movie GAF have shown to date.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am still baffled by the ending I watch Next Stop, Christmas over and over again - superb movie.
Apart from this though the roles which Chandker Massey has been getting are not worthy of his talent but I really like him so I go into The Professional Bridesmaid with hope but no expectation.
Won't be watching The Blessing Bracelet as (yet again) one of the leads is previously married.
Wishing Net and everyone on the Forum a very Happy Easter - Florence
Florence, it's A Christmas Miracle For Daisy, not a Christmas Miracle For Christmas

ReplyDeleteJust a reminder that “On a Wing and a Prayer” premiered yesterday on Amazon Prime. I am grateful I learned about this movie through this blog. It is a wonderful and inspiring family movie produced by Roma Downey which was perfect for Easter weekend. “On a Wing and a Prayer” stars Dennis Quaid and Jesse Metcalfe. It tells the story of a man who is forced to pilot a plane carrying his family when the pilot dies of a heart attack during the flight. The movie reinforces the power of faith and family and includes many edge of your seat moments. My mom and I were engaged from beginning to end and strongly recommend this movie.

The Professional Bridesmaid is family friendly about a professional bridesmaid named Maggie Bailey is a wedding planner who uses her talents to help a Mayor’s Daughter named Alexis Shepard keep her wedding in track. However, things get complicated when an ambitious reporter named Henry Whittington snoops around to get close to Mayor Shepard for big scoop. Henry overheard Mayor Shepard talking to Maggie that she’s a professional bridesmaid. Maggie introduces herself to Henry that her name hs Maggie Marie Bailey at Alexis & Dylan’s Wedding Day.

The Blessing Bracelet is a very lovely movie, and I'm glad DaySpring made this. Except, like with The Gift of Peace, it once again feels like this is a cheap move by Hallmark to 'throw a bone' out to the audience that they keep betraying.
ReplyDeleteMovies like this should be a regular thing for Hallmark, not movies stuffed with woke politics or over the top humor that feels more cringy then funny, or even inappropriate TV shows that would never have been accepted on this network 4 years ago.
I can't will myself to completely give up on Hallmark, because of the impact it had on me throughout my teenage years. But it's so hard these days to keep hoping that this network will 1 day reject it's bad politics and go back to the pureness it had 4 years ago when I keep hearing of 1 bad or lame movie after another!
I hope that DaySpring continues to make movies for Hallmark, but I just wish they wouldn't feel so much like a cheap 'throw a bone out to that 1 specific audience we keep letting down' move.
-Maria
Maria, Thank you for sharing how wonderful The Blessing Bracelet movie is! I, too, am delighted that DaySpring is creating these films for the network, but I also understand how you feel about the other films on Hallmark. My hope is that someone who wouldn't normally watch religious programming would tune into this and be touched by the faith in this film.
DeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Maria.

Hello everyone!
ReplyDeleteI hope your Easter weekend was filled with many blessings and joy. And, I hope you all were able to spend time with loved ones. My husband and I watched 'The Professional Bridesmaid'. Of course, it followed the same format that we have seen many times but it was a clean movie. Hunter King is becoming one of my favorite actresses. And, she had believable chemistry with Chandler Massey. There was a ease about their interactions and we could feel their connection. It wasn't perfect, but it was a sweet movie. :-)
Joan, Thank you so much for this review of The Professional Bridesmaid! It is so good to hear it is a wholesome, family-friendly movie. I was really wondering if it would be, and it's so nice to know now that it is. So grateful you shared this news with us!
DeleteI hope you had a lovely Easter, as well. Mine was very nice... sharing that special time with family.
Blessings to you! Net

Hi Net
DeleteThank you for the blessings! :-)
I did have a lovely Easter.
So happy to hear you did as well.
Really enjoyed watching The Blessing Bracelet on Easter. It's family friendly, plus it's a heartwarming movie with an inspiring message. ~Allie B
ReplyDeleteThe Blessing Bracelet is family friendly and a very good movie. Acting was superb! Chemistry is great between the leads!
ReplyDeleteLoved the Blessing Bracelet movie!! Very lovely and family friendly. I also liked A Professional Bridesmaid. It was sweet with two meet-cutes, family friendly.
DeleteI also really enjoyed 'The Blessing Bracelet'. It was a lovely movie with a great message about hope and prayer and it made my heart soar. I was so happy to see a faith based movie on HMM. I wish they would air more movies like this one. We all need movies like this in our lives.
ReplyDeleteAllie B, Joyce in Carolina, and Joan,
DeleteThank you, ladies, for your wonderful reviews of The Blessing Bracelet! I'm so encouraged to read your comments on how beautiful the movie is! I can't wait to watch it!
Blessings to you all! Net :)
I posted your reviews here:
https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2023/02/hallmark-announces-april-2023-movie.html
Oooh...be careful there, Net. Apparently it is no longer appropriate to use the term "ladies" anymore! Did you hear what happened? Apparently some school committee rescinded a guy's job offer because he referred to the chairperson and her assistant as "ladies" in an email. They thought the term was a "microaggression" (yeah, a what?) and an insult. Funny, I always thought the word was one of respect, as in "ladies and gentlemen". So now I wonder what is safe to use. Any ideas?
DeleteMark 25, where my daughter works, they are not allowed to refer to anyone as a "she" or "he". I can't remember what the word is they have to use. They had to attend a class teaching them how to address other people. If they say she or he, they will lose their jobs. This is a medical facility. Never thought I would see this day!
DeleteUgh! That is such a shame, kitkat! I know, I find myself rolling my eyes so much these days!
DeleteBut I am truly curious - Net, kitkat, and others...would you be insulted if you were called a "lady" today? Or some other common word (like "woman")? The last thing I want to do is insult someone, and maybe what I think is okay no longer is. Help me out, please!
Mark 25, I love being called lady or woman or female but never babe, please! I also love when men open doors for me. It feels very respectful.
DeleteThis will bring a smile to you for sure. When I was a very small child, my favorite uncle named me Granny. He said I looked like my grandmother. She had black hair and was short with olive skin. We have some Indian blood from my dad's side of the family. I was also named for my grandmother. Some women do not like to be called Granny but it sounds natural to me. Hope this made you smile.
Your story definitely made me smile! Did you mind being called Granny? (I think most little girls would, but since this was by your favorite uncle, maybe you didn't mind.) Anyway, I am going to stick with calling you kitkat! ;)
DeleteYou and I are definitely on the same page! I also see nothing wrong with lady, or woman, or female, while I always thought calling a woman babe was being disrespectful. But I know a lot of couples today, especially the younger ones, call each other babe, so I guess in that context it's okay. But not for me. And I also (still) believe it is proper for a guy to hold a door open for a woman. And if/when I get a surprised "thank you", I respond with "In my book, chivalry is not dead."
Mark 25 and kitkat,
DeleteOh boy (can we say that anymore?)... it is crazy what we can and can't say these days. I'm with you both - I like when men are still gentlemen and women are lady-like. I think there's still a lot of people who share those values over a certain age, but I'm not sure about the younger generations these days. It's so sad to see what they are being indoctrinated with - no wonder they are so confused. We must pray for revival for our country; many are lost and they need God in a major, mighty way.
By the way... I think being called a lady is a grand compliment. Thank you, Mark, for being a gentleman, and opening doors for others. After watching the news, it's nice to know there are people who still care for others.
kitkat, I will be sure to pray for your daughter. That's sad that no one cares if she's offended.
God bless you both! Net
Net and Mark 25, I think there are more of us than them. Kids today don't address their parents or older folks with yes mam or sir, because they are not taught respect.
DeleteI did not mind my uncle giving me the nickname of granny. I knew it was done in love. He owned a grocery store, and when I went there, he would say "granny, get anything you want. It is free to you." He had a daughter my age and we were best friends.
Mark 25, I agree with Net. Thank you for being respectful to females. Don't stop no matter what the world thinks.
Thank you Net and kitkat for your kind words! Don't worry, I am an old-fashioned kind of guy who has no plans on changing his ways!
DeleteYou are welcome. Thank you for always posting my reviews. I need to start doing that myself. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Blessing Bracelet was lovely! I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, but it truly was very enjoyable :)
ReplyDeleteI watched "On A Wing and A Prayer" yesterday, and I will say it was entertaining and kept me watching, but I had to fast forward a lot of scenes.
ReplyDeleteSadly, a lot of it disturbed me. There were multiple bar/alcohol drinking and bar singer scenes, the wife who was a believer dressed kinda sleazy. The daughters as well. -Concerning the revealing outfits.. I know we see this in our secular chic flicks, but I expected better for a Christian film.
Also, the character that Jesse Metcalfe played, he and his girlfriend friend were living together, not married, even after the end, in the epilogue.
This was a no for me. Hollywood's version of a Christian movie. Too immoral. I wouldn't feel comfortable showing this to my younger siblings or friends. Sad, I was hoping this would be a good one.
Change of subject: Dennis Quaid looked very changed to me. It almost looked like he suffered a stroke.
Abigail, Thank you so much for sharing your perspective on the movie "On A Wing and A Prayer" with us. I appreciate you warning us that this film is not for younger viewers due to some of the adult content/situations. I was thinking of watching this with my family this week, but we won't be doing that now. I am so grateful you took the time to share this.
DeleteI also added your review to my post on the movie here:
https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2023/02/jesse-metcalfes-new-faith-based-family.html
Thank you, again, and God bless!
I'm sorry to give bad news. I know we were all looking forward to this one. I thought you should know.
DeleteGod bless you too Net, my good friend! Have a great weekend! The weather has been so nice here. God is so good to us! Happy Spring!
Did anyone else watch Southern Gospel? It is definitely not family friendly, in that there is drug and alcohol usage, a teenage girl’s drowning, a rather graphic suicide scene, references to child sex abuse, and a lot of adult conversation. I wondered if it was based on a novel because it seemed to cover so many different events and topics in a rather disjointed sequence. There was some good music, the underlying themes of God’s grace and forgiveness were nice, and in the end it was about redemption. But because of the adult topics, it was not for children, and even adults should be aware of the content.
ReplyDeleteI watch stuff by myself all the time (and I don't have kids), so most mature stuff doesn't bug me that much (and I'm also used to seeing it in a lot of other places).
DeleteStill on my DVR, not sure when I'll get around to it. -Maria
