New TV Movie Premieres on BYU before 2022!

The first movie listed below is "Sweet as Maple Syrup". I happened to catch it midway through 2 days before Christmas day on December 23rd. After a kick search, I learned that BYU changed their schedule on Christmas week to include this movie. I was rather bummed that I missed it and the opportunity to share it with all of you. (UPDATE: See encore air date and time below!) However, I have good news... this movie is currently available to stream through BYUtv's web-site - here or through BYU's app!

BYU will also premiere "The Secret Sauce", (also from Incendo Productions) on Wednesday, December 29th at 1pm EST. You can see it via streaming - here!

See details for both movies below.

Movie: Sweet as Maple Syrup

Network: BYUtv

Original Air Date: December 23, 2021 at 1pm/12c.

Encore Air Date: April 30, 2022 at 6pm/5c. and 2am/1c.

Starring: Brooke Nevin and Carlo Marks

Storyline via BYU:
Desperate to save her family’s maple orchard, Rachelle enlists the help of Derek, a tree scientist. With the Maple Syrup Festival coming up quickly, Rachelle and Derek must work together to get her maple trees back to their former glory. A charming family-friendly romance, Sweet as Maple Syrup champions the virtues of hard work, science, and community-mindedness.

Review:

🌳"Just watched it and I have to say it was a fun one. Family friendly and the chemistry was great. Hope this helps!" ~Heidi Joy

🌳"SWEET AS MAPLE SYRUP "Food" related themes seem to be very popular at the moment and there have even been a couple of other movies with Maple Syrup centre stage. This is another winning showcase from Incendo (it is, of course, family-friendly). A very large part if this is due to the lead actors Brooke Nevin (I wonder why Hallmark have never taken her up?) and Carlo Marks - Rachelle and Derek. Both were excellent in their parts and there was wonderful chemistry between them. Although Derek was a professor and bookish there was nothing boring about him. You had a good idea how the plot would work out but their on-screen presence kept things refreshingly interesting. It was nice to see how romance developed between them from the initial antagonism to the gradual warming and eventually deeper feelings. There was a nice comedy line as Rachelle tried to avoid the match-making tactics of a local doyenne. I also liked Rachelle's brother who was a partner in the business. Knowing how these Rom.Coms usually go I was actually surprised that they didn't introduce a love interest for him - I was actually fully expecting something to develop between him and Rachelle's best friend - although there was a little twist on this at the end. Overall this a delightful, heartwarming movie which I think would appeal to most members here." Forence's rating - 8.

🌳"Sweet as Maple S ok but very predictable." ~JoCo

Movie: The Secret Sauce

Network: BYUtv

Original Air Date: December 29, 2021 at 1pm/12c.

Starring: Tori Anderson and Corey Sevier

Storyline via BYU:
Marketing executive Laura is sent to oversee a small-town cook off and entice Jim, the local barbecue restaurant owner, to let her license his family's secret BBQ sauce. While Laura struggles with small-town life, and while Jim resists the idea of joining forces with a large business, the two soon discover how well their differences work together. With a dash of trust and a splash of kindness, Jim and Laura’s friendship slowly marinates into something much sweeter.

Review:

πŸ²πŸ” "The Secret Sauce is family-friendly, delightful and light-hearted. The small town community feel is heartwarming. Overall, the storyline is fairly straight-forward and easy-going, with no major plot twists or surprises. I enjoyed both leads, Tori Anderson and Corey Sevier, and their chemistry was just as sweet as the sauce! Marketing executive Laura Glickman (Tori Anderson) comes from the big city of Chicago to the mid-west, to persuade the laid-back, set in his ways, Jim Covell (Corey Sevier) into selling the recipe to his secret sauce. Course, their relationship may become more than mere business. I enjoyed this charming movie, and I hope you will, too! Fair warning: It might induce you to fire up the BBQ!" ~Net

πŸ²πŸ” "I watched and recorded The Secret Sauce on 12/29/2021 and loved it!" ~Namegirl

*If you miss this showing on BYUtv, you should also be able to watch via VOD on BYU's web-site - *click here*!

    1. Misty, I was happy to see BYU had these listed, too. Hope they will show an encore airing of Sweet as Maple Syrup soon! I asked them to add it to their app/streaming service, but it's still not available on-line to watch.

    1. Chris, I was thinking the same thing! Looks like from the picture above that they also tap the tree for syrup.

    2. Interesting... In Moonlight in Vermont, Carlo Marks character name is Derek....and in Sweet as Maple Syrup, he plays a Derek.

    1. Florence, Me too! I was really surprised to see this added to their schedule. Some other TV Guide type schedules online had different shows listed for BYU, so it looks like it was a last minute schedule change. Hopefully, we'll be able to catch another airing of "Sweet as Maple Syrup" soon!

    3. Me too, Namegirl! I was excited to see it finally in the schedule!

I know. I know. I could've streamed it, but watching it through my TV and not using up my internet data is so much nicer!

It's also nice we have two great reviews above in advance, from Heidi Joy and Florence. (( Thank you, ladies! ))

Hope we both enjoy this movie, too! :)

    1. JoCo, That is interesting. I think these were added in to the schedule recently, so many online and even, TV guides, are probably not showing this. You may want to record at that time for two hours, just in case.

    1. Hello, Heidi Joy! What a beautiful name you have! Thank you for your sweet comment; I'm so glad to know how much you enjoy visiting here at It's a Wonderful Movie. That means so much to me!

Also, thank you for your review of "Sweet as Maple Syrup"! It's nice to know how much you enjoyed it and, especially, that it is family-friendly!

Typically, after a movie premieres on BYU, they show up immediately on their app, but this one wasn't doing that (right after Christmas), so I contacted BYU to let them know, and they said they would look into it. I kept checking back, but I believe it didn't show up on their app until a few or so days after the New Year. My guess is their tech dept. wasn't available during the holiday season to add it.

Anyway, I'm so glad they posted it and you were able to watch it there. I updated the information above to let everyone know it is available now to watch on their web-site or through BYU's app.

I also posted your review above... I so appreciate you taking the time to comment and share with us! :)

      Blessings on your day! Net
