I've been waiting with great anticipation to see the poster revealed for the new Hallmark movie "Taking the Reins" ever since I've heard about the incredible cast and magnificent horse farm setting! And now that it has been released, I must say how much I love it; I especially like the tagline: "Love is a leap of faith." I'm a country girl, through and through, so this movie truly speaks to me - and I haven't even seen it, yet!
Here's the beautiful poster...
"Taking the Reins" stars Nikki DeLoach ("Cranberry Christmas") as Samantha "Sam" and two well known actors portray her parents: Janine Turner ("Northern Exposure") plays the loving, nurturing mother, Bonnie Barclay and Corbin Bernsen ("When We Last Spoke," "Psych") portrays the competitive patriarch of the family, Preston Barclay. (character details via Nikki DeLoach's Instagram)
"Taking the Reins" storyline: A writer goes back to the family ranch to write an article about her passion for horses and discovers what ended her marriage and why she stopped riding horses.
This movie is part of Hallmark's Fall Harvest movie premieres - and it is set to premiere September 25th at 9pm/8c. on the Hallmark Channel!
According to Hallmark's recent press release, Fall Harvest began with great ratings: "Fall Harvest Original Movie Premiere “Roadhouse Romance” (starring Lauren Alaina and Tyler Hynes) Ranks as the Most-Watched Program of the Day and Week. The premiere averaged 2.1 million Total Viewers."

Nikki and Scott play a divorced couple!
ReplyDeleteShould be a good movie. I'm glad hallmark is getting deeper into store telling when couples are involved, not everything needs to be non-realistic and show a couple always happy. Should very interesting to see these two play a divorced couple and how they rekindle. Looking forward to this one.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it's well down compared to what the norm was not that long ago Roadhouse Romance is the first movie in some time to break the 2m barriier - in fact since Tyler Hines last outing!
ReplyDeleteI generally enjoy Nikki DeLoach but what I really want to know is whether her love interest is the ex-husband or not - Florence
Her love interest is Nikki' characters ex-husband!

DeleteZoe - thank you so much for sharing that important detail! Good to hear you are looking forward to this movie, too! :)
Deletekitkat - we haven't watched Roadhouse Romance yet - I don't what you can take from the preview.
DeletePersonally, was not a big fan of the Tyler and Kellie Pickler movie - your comment resonates with me! - Florence
I am not sure what they call the most watched, but that was 9/11, and there were a few shows on History Channel about 9/11, that I am sure had higher ratings. I see they have a bunch of words after the #1, something about women 18+ I am sure far more people watched 9/11 stuff than hallmark.
ReplyDeleteI am happy this movie did well, cause Redemption In Cherry Springs was bad bad ratings. If they do another one of those movies i will know it is just to be woke cause the ratings were 2nd lowest of the year and were way below the movies this year.
Sabrina
Redemption in Cherry Springs was a brand new series, with new actors new to Hallmark. Garage Sale Mysteries, Aurora Teagarden, Mystery 101, Signed Sealed Delivered and more didn't have huge ratings when they first started, the ratings went up with each movie. From my understanding though, per Hallmark' survey some get sent that Cherry Springs is a mystery series.
DeleteHi, Sabrina, where do you find the ratings? I've looked and come up with nothing. I'm with you about Cherry Springs. The acting looked awful in just the commercials for it! What was the first lowest? Thank you!!
DeleteSavvy Girl, I'm not sure if this is Sabrina's source, but I always check them out at Wikipedia:

I guess thats true, the low ratings could have just been cause its new. But the 1st Mystery 101, and chronicle mysteries all got way better ratings. The Aurora and Garage sale stuff was way earlier before people had this channel. but nowadays ratings on HMM are sometimes higher than regular hallmark. I heard from a few places that Redemption in cherry springs was really bad. I am sure Hallmark will push more of these, but i dont know if people will watch. Maybe they will. Even 1st Marthas vineyard had high ratings. Cherry Springs was lower behind Moring Show Mysteries for the year.

I am just not sure Raising a glass is Fall Harvest either. I am skipping it. A movie about wine? And from the survey i think it is another movie where the girl has a boyfriend, goes out of town and meets another guy and then the boyfriend comes and she doesnt want the boyfriend anymore. I like Laura Osnes, but I would rather watch Fall Harvest than wine movie. South Beach movie too, it is not fall harvest.

Really looking forward to Taking the Reins! Looks great and who doesn't just love Nikki
ReplyDeleteDeLoach!!
Me, too! I love horses.
DeleteJust saw the trailer for this movie and I am so excited. I love Nikki and horses so I'm doubly excited. I thought Roadhouse Romance was exceptional also, so happy for the good report on it's success.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Roadhouse Romance, too. Lauren Alaina was a better actress than Kellie Pickler, although I like them both. I glad that Luke (Hines) was frequently jotting down Grandpa Tucker's words of wisdom.
DeleteThank you, Clara & Namegirl, for sharing your reviews for Roadhouse Romance!

Glad you both enjoyed it! :)
This looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt’s a beautiful movie poster
ReplyDeleteNice to hear good reviews on Roadhouse Romance. I've been very tenuous with the HM movies of late, for obvious reasons, so I will check that out, since Taylor Hines is a favorite. I will definitely tune into Taking the Reins. Also, nice to see a movie with a different title (minus the love, romance, etc.). It seems more mature, and Nikki can do no wrong (My favorite of hers is Love Takes Flight). I think this will be right up there, too.
ReplyDeleteI like the poster. It seems to me that lately the poster are more like artwork than an actual photograph.
ReplyDeleteI deleted my comment on Roadhouse Romance because it was very unkind. Until I watch a movie, my mouth should stay sealed. The Holy Spirit dealt with me about what I said. If I hurt anyone with my comments, please forgive me. My prayer every morning is for God to guard my thoughts, words, and actions; to only let things that glorify His name be a part of me.
ReplyDeleteAwe, kitkat... I understand how you feel. It's hard for me, as well, to be too negative when I don't really like a movie or an actor. You are so sweet! Thank you for sharing that wonderful prayer with us. We all need that reminder, from time to time, to guard what we say, especially on-line. :)
DeleteNikki looks gorgeous in her riding outfit. Loved horses all my life, and have read so many stories about horses. Looking forward to this movie.
ReplyDeleteIs this fall Harvest movie that was filmed in Connecticut?
ReplyDeleteChris, Yes! "Taking the Reins" was filmed on location at the gorgeous Meadowbrook Farm in Connecticut, owned by Renee Depuis and her husband Ed Bennet III.
