The Thursday night Christmas classic airing this week on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is "The Christmas Ring" starring Nazneen Contractor (A Winter Getaway) and David Alpay (The Mistletoe Inn). The movie is barely a classic, though, since it first premiered in 2020.
If you haven't caught this one, yet, or if it doesn't *ring* a bell (haha, get the pun?), you'll want to check out all the details and reviews below...
Thursday, June 3, 2021:
Storyline: A reporter (Nazneen Contractor) searches for the love story behind an antique engagement ring. With the help of the ring’s owner's grandson (David Alpay), they learn the legacy his grandparent's left behind.
Reviews for "The Christmas Ring":
π"I really liked The Christmas Ring. I liked the little mystery it had and cute romance. I would recommend The Christmas Ring and The Christmas Bow. Both are family friendly and have wonderful messages." ~ Misty
π"The Christmas Ring. I liked it. The setting was Christmas-y. I liked the lead actor & actress. Family friendly. I'm not sure it's a keeper for the dvr, but I would definitely re-watch it sometime." ~~Jane
π"The Christmas Ring I've read a large number of negative reviews of this film but have to say I'm in agreement with most of the Posters here. I thought it was a delightful movie with a great connection between the lead actors, a nice little mystery and of course while certain Christmas traditions had to be included it wasn't over cliched. There was a nice friendly feeling amomg the cast - one of my favourites so far this season." ~Anonymous
π"Loved this movie! The Christmas Ring has a little bit of everything - the mystery of a beautiful antique ring, a cool classic car, a possible budding romance, and of course, a small town filled with Christmas charm! I really enjoyed this family friendly rom-com and the sweet chemistry between Nazneen Contractor and David Alpay's characters. If you like a Christmas mystery, this is a must see!" ~Net

Lovely movie.
ReplyDeleteIt was just that bit different and I really enjoyed it - well worth a second watch and if you haven't seen it before then don't miss it - Florence
Glad you enjoyed it, too, Florence! :)
DeleteIs The Christmas Ring in same group as Signature Mysteries Movies?
ReplyDeleteChris, I don't think they include it in that category; it's just a Christmas movie with a little mystery in it.
DeleteJim, That's the way it's looking to me, too, unless they add or take anything away. I've included everything I can see, so far, but changes most likely will occur.
ReplyDeleteI was also curious on why they are doing the Christmas movies on HMM 24/7, but not on the Hallmark Channel. I guess they receive lots of complaints when the sitcoms are taken away during the night. Maybe they are trying to avoid that this year.
What Hallmark Christmas movies would you catorgize under Signature Mysteries?
ReplyDeleteChris,
DeleteHallmark's Signature Mysteries would include: Mystery 101, Aurora Teagarden, Crossword Mysteries, Martha's Vineyard Mysteries, MatchMaker Mysteries, Picture Perfect Mysteries, Morning Show Mysteries, etc...
I plan on watching HMM christmas in July in June but i am not sure i am going to turn on HM Christmas in July except for a few movies i want to see. The HMM channel is a lot better and less commercials about same sex couples in movies and shows. I am not a fan at all of regular HM channel any longer and dont watch it unless i record a movie and even those i record and then have been deleting cause i cant get thru the movies. It has just been disappointing to be watching a movie and suddenly up pops wokeness. Not to mention they barely play the movies past 2019 and if they play anything older, it is at 3 am.
ReplyDeleteThey haven't even played a commercial yet for HMM Christmas and it starts in 14 days. I saw it at the bottom of the tv this AM, but no commercials.
The more i see the commervcial for To Catch a Spy the more it gets on my last nerve. Not sure why any hotel worker has to tell a reporter or whatever she is about a body behind the hotel. she is not a detective and they don't have to tell her squat.
Cant wait for Aurora this weekend. I havent seen Lynn in any of the commercials, did she not film in this? Hoping Arthur is at the wedding.
Sabrina, Good catch on Lynn not being in the next Aurora - Til Death Do Us Part. I don't recall her in any of the promos, either, or press shots. I checked Miranda Frigon's IMDB and they don't have the movie listed under her name, but they do have the next one - Honeymoon, Honeymurder - so at least we know she will be back. Maybe she couldn't do the quarantine or something for this movie. It is a longer commitment to do that, plus the film time.
ReplyDeleteI also watch a lot more Hallmark Movies & Mysteries than the regular Hallmark Channel, especially since the station is dominated by sitcoms much of the day. I did, however, watch a little Hallmark Channel this morning and I caught the Christmas in July promo for the HC - which they are also promoting on Facebook. It's the one with the couple in lawn chairs with the dog. It kind of reminds me of the ones Lifetime did a couple years ago.
Like you, I have, yet, to see a Christmas in June/July promo on the HMM channel. It is odd since they are going to air there first. Hope they do that beautiful patriotic Christmas commercial that they've done in years past.
Sabrina, UPDATE: I just saw a promo on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries for Christmas in July! I added both promos to a post here:

sounds nice. I wish I had been able to see it.
ReplyDeleteI did start seeing the commercials this weekend. I saw Drama was playing the love comes softly movies on saturday and i saw the commercials there too. I wish HMM would STOP playing the Walgreens "Our" shot commercials, I'm getting close to changing the channel.
ReplyDeleteI saw most of the Aurora last night, not the ending though, and CCB had so many adorable outfits, especially the pink dress she had on, it was adorable.
Sad to not have Lynn, but love to see arthur more. I thought Miranda Frigon lived in Canada? do Canadians have to quarantine. Jen Lilleys quarantine videos are so cute, she is adorable. Jill wagners were cute too.
