SEE "When Hope Calls" UPDATE BELOW...
This charming, delightful family show, with all the warmth and heart of it's predecessor, "When Calls the Heart," centers around sisters Lillian (Morgan Kohan) and Grace (Jocelyn Hudon), who run an orphanage together in the small, growing town of Brookfield. This sweet little community faces challenges and adversity by working hard and helping their neighbors when they are in need.
Like "When Calls the Heart," the town of Brookfield has their own Mountie, Gabriel (RJ Hatanaka), keeping the peace. He also gets assistance in this first season from Mountie Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry), of Hope Valley. Gabriel also appears to be a potential suitor for Lillian, while sparks fly between Grace and the local veterinarian, Chuck (Greg Hovanessian).
Look for the cable premiere of "When Hope Calls" on Sunday, February 23rd at 9pm/8c, immediately following the season seven premiere of "When Calls the Heart."
As soon as it became available last year, I watched this series from beginning to end on Hallmark Movies Now. "When Hope Calls" is family-friendly, suspenseful, heartwarming, and such a joy to watch! I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Oh yes... UPtv is playing many wonderful Hallmark movie classics - every day!!! Love Brennan Elliott in this one! :)
DeleteThis series is very very sweet. It was bright and cheery as well as fun and interesting. So happy it's coming to Hallmark Channel, too!:)
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad you are looking forward to this sweet series coming to the Hallmark Channel. It is such an uplifting series, one that an entire family can watch. I think Hallmark is going to have wonderful ratings on Sunday nights with both of these shows airing back to back! :)
DeleteYay!!!!!! We get to see Grace and Lillian!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, you'll finally get to see more of the story with these sweet sisters, who are trying to connect with one another since being separated as children. It is heartwarming to see them create so many new memories together.
DeleteIt was so smart, in my opinion, of the producers to introduce the sisters, Lillian and Grace, on "When Calls the Heart..." I just love how the characters flow back and forth from one series to the other.
This is such great news. I watched the first episode of When Hope Calls last year and was very unhappy that it would not be aired on Hallmark cable channels. Looking forward to watching both series, as I absolutely love and enjoy all of the Hallmark movies. Also love that they will be aired back-to-back. Hurrah!
ReplyDeleteGlady, I'm thrilled to hear how happy you are over this news! It's funny - I've seen "When Hope Calls," and yet, I can't wait to watch them all over again - with all of you!!!! YAY!!!! :)
Deleteexciting news!!!

It sure is!!!!! :)
DeleteWhen Hope Calls: Season 1
ReplyDeleteWhen Hope Calls: Season 2
Or
Both
10+10=20
The Hallmark Channel will be airing Season 1 (10 episodes) of "When Hope Calls" after "When Calls the Heart" on Sunday nights.
DeleteThere is no word, yet, on Season 2, but after this... we'll see!!! :)
This is good news! Do you know how many episodes there are? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAmy G. - I so agree... this is, indeed, wonderful news! There are 10 episodes in this first season of "When Hope Calls," which is what we typically get from "When Calls the Heart." Unfortunately, last year was shortened to 9, due to all of the editing.
DeleteAnyway, each episode of WHC is so good - you'll hardly know an hour has gone by when you've watched it!
If you enjoy WCTH, then I'm sure you'll love this too! :)
Thanks! Wow, 10 episodes to look forward to is great! Yes, I am a big WCTH fan, though to me, it hasn't been the same since Lori Loughlin left and since they "retooled" the series. It's still one of the best shows on TV, though!
DeleteLosing Jack, too, was of course a big hit, and if you can believe it, I am STILL upset that they never replaced Rip the basset hound after the real dog died. Aren't there any other basset hound actors in B.C. that could fill the role? :)
Awe, Amy G, I know exactly what you mean. I missed having sweet Rip in the show. Plus, Jack's departure was really tough for me, as well, and I think Lori's character could've stayed last year. The shows were already taped, after all. It seemed rather extreme, in my opinion, to edit her out. At this point, she is still innocent until proven guilty in this country. And I know many are sad that Cody had to leave the show, too.
DeleteEven still, with all the controversy, Season 6 of WCTH was a beautiful season last year - with sweet baby Jack growing and two new handsome, potential love interests for Elizabeth.
I have a feeling, since you enjoy WCTH, you're gong to love When Hope Calls, too!!!
Going in I didn't know what I would think of this series...needless to say, I was happily surprised! It's a very pleasant show...good storylines and so many characters to enjoy. It was (by far) my favourite new tv show of 2019. Hope this one gets renewed for Season 2!
ReplyDeleteAmanda D - I am so happy to hear you were pleasantly surprised by "When Hope Calls." I wasn't sure what I would think of it, either. Would I like it just as much as WCTH? Could it compete or compare? The answer for me, too, was a strong YES!!! I just fell in love with all of the characters and storylines, I couldn't wait to see more. And now, I'm excited we get to share this beautiful series with others who will hopefully join us in wanting season 2 and more and more!!! :)
DeleteWanting to watch When Hope Calls: Season 1 & 2
Delete10+10=20 episodes
Oh, I sure hope they renew it and give us a Season 2! That would be wonderful news! :)
DeleteI have also since learned how to make Maggie's favourite English treat -- Chelsea Buns. They were a hit!
DeleteUPDATE on WHEN HOPE CALLS...
DeleteI just heard great news... "When Hope Calls" has been renewed for a Season 2!
The series will have NEW Episodes THIS FALL on Hallmark Movies Now!
I hope When Calls the Heart will have 11 episodes this year because they cut from 10 episodes to 9 episodes last year
ReplyDeleteI notice WCTH had 8 episodes unless they added 12 episodes last several years ago
I'm not anticipating an additional episode, but you never know. I hope one day we can see Season 6 unedited with Lori Loughlin's character left in the series. I'm not sure that would ever happen, though, since they've moved on now without her in this new season.
DeleteNet, I haven't watched any of the "When" series (shhh! Don't tell anybody!). I think I watched a Christmas episode one year, but I don't remember it. Which series do you suggest I start with (or both!)? Is one better than the other, or do they build on each other? I don't have Hallmark Movies Now or Hallmark Drama, so should I go back and buy the first Season of WCTH and start there (I don't mind buying them if they're family friendly) or is it okay to start with season 7 or should I just start with WHC?? So many decisions!! :)
ReplyDelete~~Jane
Jane, (Just between you & me... I'll never tell! LOL!!!)
DeleteOh my goodness... where to start with When Calls the Heart??? I guess I would have to say it's best to start with Season One. There is a building of characters within the community and relationships, that start from the very beginning. I'm sure you are also aware of the controversies, first with Jack in Season 5 and Lori's character edited out in Season 6. Those were big losses to the series, but the other cast members have carried the show on beautifully.
You would probably understand what is going on if you started watching now at Season 7, but there were a lot of wonderful (and a few sad) moments in the 6 previous seasons, as well. And, yes, all of the content is family friendly. The only caution, is a death at the end of season 5, which might be too intense for young viewers.
If I were you, honestly... I would be tempted to just watch now along with everyone else, and possibly go back and watch the previous seasons as time permitted.
Please let us know what you decide. We would love to have you watch with us!
Blessings! Net
Thanks, Net. I ordered the dvd's for the first three seasons of When Calls the Heart, so I think I'll try to watch from the beginning. But I may tune in (or record) When Hope Calls on February 23rd so I can get in on that one from the beginning. I can't wait to become a Heartie!!
