Lately, I have been receiving lots of questions, comments and speculations regarding the movie, "Valentine's Again." I created this post to (hopefully!) answer your questions - the best I can! Yes, this movie was pulled from the Hallmark Channel "Countdown to Valentine's Day" line-up. And, Yes, it was previously scheduled to premiere during the "Countdown to Valentine's Day" event.

I spoke directly to Hallmark and was informed the movie will not be airing in February. At this time, no reason or alternative air date has been released, yet, but they will let us know when a decision has been reached.

Thank you all for faithfully following here at It's a Wonderful Movie! If you would like to see what is airing during "Countdown to Valentine's Day" on the Hallmark Channel, click HERE!

  1. That's a tough break considering it has Valentine in the title and one of the stars is a Hallmark alum. Wonder what happened? I won't waste everyone's time guessing, but it sure is peculiar.

    1. Agree CJ! It is certainly tough, especially considering the title and the movie's theme wraps solely around Valentine's day.

  2. Thanks Net for sharing what you know. Everyone kept figuring it would still air in February. I'm fairly surprised that's not even happening.

Actually, I'm shocked!!!!!!! Didn't they already promote this?

    1. Yes, they had promoted "Valentine's Again" to air during the "Countdown to Valentine's Day" event. It was featured in the video promo / commercial and announced in a press release. Plus, actors from the movie promoted it at the Hallmark TCA event. So, I'm not sure what went awry.

    1. At this point, it's anyone's guess. We will have to wait and see what Hallmark has planned for this movie.

  4. Greg Vaughan said Valentine's Again is upcoming this Valentines according to Hallmark Channel promo video of Countdown to Valentine's Day but not even this time for premiering after Valentine's Day. Valentine's Again has been proposing the date in which month will release this year on Hallmark Channel so, still Valentine's Again or not!!!!

    1. Yes, all of those things took place, but Hallmark directly informed me they have changed their plans for the premiere of this movie, removed it from the "Countdown to Valentine's Day" lineup, and it will not be premiering in February. For now, that is all the news I have on this movie. When I hear more, I'll be certain to share it.

I still believe -- which I have said all along -- that something went astray in the post-production process.... either that, or some sort of legal issue arose (maybe from filming a site in Bulgaria that wasn't supposed to be filmed without a permit, or something else like that?).

Or... maybe Hallmark execs watched the movie and decided it was not up to par, and not something they wanted to include in the Valentine's schedule. (But I think this is a less likely scenario.)

Hallmark is not going to send actors to Bulgaria to film this movie, AND mention it on their website AND in a press release, if they are not pretty certain it will air.

So that implies that something unexpected came up *after* the movie was actually filmed -- a technical issue, a legal issue, a quality issue, etc.

However, it would seem that most technical issues could be easily ironed out in the editing process, unless something extreme happened -- like a chunk of footage was lost, impacting the story/content.

Nicky Whelan (leading lady in the movie) was at the TCA event on January 14th, and I doubt that Hallmark would have had her there if they were not planning to premiere this movie. That was also the time when a press release came out about the Countdown to Valentine's Day, which specifically mentioned "Valentine's Again."

So, as recently as a couple of weeks ago this movie was still intended to premiere. The plot is all about reliving Valentine's Day over and over again, so it's not like it can be changed to a Summer Nights movie theme or Christmas or something.

The only choices of what can happen now are:

    1. Hallmark will air it anyway -- Valentine theme and all -- in the Spring (I can't see it airing in Summer and certainly not during Fall Harvest), OR...

    2. They will hold on to it until 2018 and air it then, OR...

    3. They will not air it at all and will sell it to another distributor or network, OR...

    4. They will shelve it and pretend it never happened.

    1. Or maybe put it directly on DVD???

    2. Sherry In CaliforniaFriday, January 27, 2017

Yes, indeed! I was kind of thinking of a DVD option in my #3 choice (sell it to another distributor), but didn't specify it! They could sell it to another network/distributor if they really don't want it.

If there is some sort of legal issue involved that is preventing Hallmark from airing the movie, then we probably wouldn't see it on any other network or on DVD either. It will just disappear.

If it's a technical issue, it should be possible to fix. If it's a quality issue (for example, if Hallmark just doesn't like the movie), then they would probably sell it off.

  6. Maybe they can use it in the spring? Instead of Valentine's flowers (roses) edit in spring flowers?

    1. Another idea floating around, is the possibility that Valentine's Again might be moved to the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel.

Perhaps, (and this is only my guess) they will air it in March, like they did the 2nd part of The Bridge, when viewers were not too thrilled over the idea of waiting a year to see the conclusion of a movie.

So, that's another possibility, but I guess we will have to wait and see!

Also... the whole story is about reliving Valentine's Day over and over. The story is about Valentine's Day. Spending the money and taking the time to edit out superficial things like flowers would not be realistic when the story itself is about Valentine's Day.

I agree with Net -- I think it could air in the spring (like March-ish, or even April). If the movie hasn't premiered on either Hallmark channel by late May, then we might not see it until 2018 -- unless it is sold to someone else. If anyone gets married in the movie -- and I have no idea if they do -- they could throw it into June Weddings. If not, then I don't think we'd see it at all for the rest of 2017.

  7. Since Hallmark removed it from Valentine's lineup I am thinking it can be easily renamed. We might just be assuming by the name that it could only be shown in February. But in reality it might not have alot of scenes with Valentine decorations everywhere then it could really be shown anytime. UP movie Seasons Greetings covered all the holiday events but yet was a Christmas movie (BTW really loved they did that instead of everything happening in a month they showed the relationship grow over time)

It's not an issue of the title. The title is not the thing to focus on. Yes, they can easily rename it to anything.

The story itself is about reliving Valentine's Day over and over. So, no matter what it is called, the plot of the movie is about Valentine's Day. There is no way to get around that since it has been filmed and acted out.

  8. I wonder if Valentine's Again storyline has been changed just like "A Worthwhile Life", so, if a new title of the movie. It's same Valentine's Again - from Countdown to Valentine's Day video promo.

"Valentine's Again" was already filmed. It already has the Valentine theme and story.

"A Worthwhile Life" had not been filmed yet, when its theme and story were changed, so it was easy to strip it of its Christmas theme with some tweaks of a script and some re-planning of the set dΓ©cor/design and what not. Then they could film A Worthwhile Life with the new theme and change the title to "Love At First Glance."

In other words, changing a movie's theme and storyline before it has gone into production is an entirely different scenario than changing a movie's theme and storyline after it has been filmed.

  9. If Valentine's Again moves to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on February 26, 2017 is still available or keep proposing air date in which month - Valentine's Again will air this year or beyond or even still Hallmark Channel somehow it's already filmed.

  14. I wonder if it was removed since the storyline is very different kind of like how "Love at First Glance" was very different...Maybe Hallmark didn't want to premiere two quirky story lines for the same holiday event.

If there is a wedding involved in Valentine's Again, it could be included in June Weddings if it premieres on Hallmark channel not HMM

  18. This movie didn't have the magic I expect from Hallmark..it was very by-the-numbers...the actress did not have the same appeal that she had in Romance at Reindeer Lodge. Plus, I really hate that Hallmark feels the need to constantly bash gluten-free food..why? And the joke in this movie was particularly nasty. Shame on you, Hallmark. Not a great movie.
