via Hallmark:

Three-time Emmy® and two-time Golden Globe® nominee Sherry Stringfield (“ER”) and Katie Leclerc (“Switched at Birth”) star in the World Premiere of “Beverly Lewis’ The Confession,” a Hallmark Channel Original Movie on Saturday, May 11 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C). The dramatic sequel to Hallmark Channel’s highly acclaimed original movie, “Beverly Lewis’ The Shunning,” which first premiered in 2011, is based on the second novel of The Heritage of Lancaster County Books from New York Times best-selling author Beverly Lewis. The series is based on some of the heartbreaking experiences of Lewis’ maternal grandmother, who was born into the Old Order Mennonite Church, which became the genesis of Lewis’ fascination with her Plain heritage. Katie Lapp (Leclerc) is an innocent young Amish woman who has ventured out of her small Lancaster community for the first time after a painful incident led to her “shunning” from the very township that raised her. As she takes on the unfamiliar outside world, she is desperate to track down her birth mother, a wealthy and generous woman named Laura Mayfield-Bennett (Stringfield) who is sadly dying of cancer. With only a few months to live, Laura and her husband Dylan (Adrian Paul, “Highlander”) prepare Laura’s estate and will. When Dylan, a greedy gambling addict, finds out he will inherit close to nothing from his wife, he hires an out-of-work actress, Alyson (Julia Whelan, “Once and Again”), to feign as Laura’s long-lost Amish daughter—hoping Laura will take the bait and leave her entire estate to her only child.

  1. Just a note to say thank you for posting re "The Confession." I played Samuel Lapp in "The Shunning" and just wrapped on a reprise of the same role in "The Confession." To be associated with The Hallmark Channel is any actor's dream. Michael Landon Jr. makes movies for people who are not afraid to see the good in life. It's a real blessing to me to be a part of that and to do a film my mom and family can watch :)

    best to you,
    Bill Oberst Jr.

    1. Dear Mr. Oberst,
Your comment was heartfelt. I am not ashamed to say that I watched both movies and was moved to tears, to anger.(I hope that the guitar you smashed was a real junker!) And felt you played your part absolutely realistically. I go out to the Lancaster area every couple of weeks to deliver doors and windows to many builders who employ the Amish. You fit the part superbly, kudos to the person in charge of casting.
Your sentiments, "Michael Landon Jr. makes movies for people who are not afraid to see the good in life. It's a real blessing to me to be a part of that and to do a film my mom and family can watch." is absolutely spot on. God bless you, your family and your mom. I hope you play in any sequels to the previous movies. We need good people like you to represent the film arts. Thanks and keep up the great attitude and acting.

    2. Bill you were magnificent in this movie. Your acting was unbelievably realistic, I was truly impressed. What a great performance and a wonderful movie. I hope you are in every sequel they make. This is from your hometown friend Travis.

    3. Just wondering why you did not return for "The Reckoning" I truly missed you as Samuel Lapp. Your acting would have brought so much more emotion to the role that was greatly missed!!

  2. When is The Confession due to be aired. We just watched The Shunning and loved it. We are disappointed to see that Danielle is not returning as Katie though.

  4. To Bill Oberst Jr.:

Thank you for sharing your experience of creating the movie sequel, The Confession, here with us.

We look forward to seeing the continuation of this story on the Hallmark Channel in January 2013.

I must also add - that you and the actress who portrays your wife, are so wonderful together in the first movie - that I look forward to seeing you both together again in this one.

Again, Thank You! Hope it does very well for you.

  5. I just finished watching the movie 'The Shunning' on netflix. what a wonderful story, acting, character development- one of the best christian movies I've ever seen.
I live near Lancaster so that was special too!
    York, Pa

I do believe according to THE CONFESSION's facebook page that THE CONFESSION will premiere on the Hallmark Channel on mother's day weekend....which is a recent date change from the January 19 date.
Just wanted to drop a note here. :-)

Can't wait to see the movie!

  7. Can;t wait to see this movie. When will it be out.

  8. I can't wait to see this movie. I'm counting the days. I've seen the shunning like a Thousand times and it still is a great movie.
    thanks for making this movie!!!
    God Bless!

  9. Ijust wish you wouldnt of changed the katie as far as im concerned she made the first movie

    1. I didn't like they changed Katie should of left her the same actress, why did they change her? I love the new one great actress

  10. I loved Danielle Panabaker as Katie Lapp in "The Shunning". I am very disappointed to see that she is not in "The Confession". I too, think that she made the first movie what it was.

    1. Me too and I wish the same Daniel was in it too.

    2. I am just seeing these movies and I love them. I too am very disappointed in the changes of the cast. Especially Katie, Daniel, Justin and Samuel. Why weren't the same actors cast in the sequels?

  11. Will there be a sequel to the confession? So Katie and Daniel can get back together?

  12. Great great movie but I was slightly disappointed (okay more then a little!) when Daniel and Katie didn't get back together and she stayed English. All in all an awesome move but please PLEASE tell me a third movie will be created!!I NEED to see what happens! One downfall of both The Shunning and The Confession (especially The Shunning) is that they end at the MOST in opportune times resulting in severe suspense! Again I need that 3rd movie!

  13. There has to be a sequel to the sequel...

  14. Why katie not unite with daniel

  15. I loved this movie and also The Shunning, is there another sequel?

  16. Loved the movie - hope there will be a sequel. I didn't want it to stop when it did!

  17. I just need a sequel so that Daniel and Katie can get married, like he said at the last. Just loved, loved, loved the movie! Wish all movies could be made like that. Don't need all the filth that's out there for our children and teenagers. Just need good family movies and a lot more of them. So proud of these movies. I'm sure God is well pleased!

    1. I have to agree with you 100%. I would so love more Christian movies. They are clean entertainment for the entire family and pleasing to watch. Some are real tear jerkers though. Loved The Shunning sad that I don't have cable to seeThe Confession. We will it be out on DVD?

  18. The Amish NEVER wear makeup or wedding rings. The Shunning really bothered me because it depicted the Amish so incorrectly. I know this because my paternal grandparents were Amish......

  19. Pleaase add a third movie; we can't be left in this suspense. Don't wait another year, please. Your movies are so very much appreciated and we need more of this type of entertainment. Tell us there are more to come, so much more of Katie's life and the love and kidness she inherited from her biological mom and her addopted Amish mom. Go to be move, since that necklace is on layaway and he says he will marry her someday.

  20. Loved both movies! I too hope the third book is made into a movie. But meanwhile I'll be purchasing the book, "The Reckoning" as soon as I can get to a bookstore! Bravo!!!!

  21. No word, yet, on a third movie in this series. "The Reckoning" as mentioned above (by Anonymous) is the next book in the series.

Can be read on Paperback, Hardcover, Audio version, or Kindle.

  22. I loved the driving instructor. She kept it real and funny!!!!!

  23. Katie Leclerc was perfect as Katie. Just loved this movie!!!

  24. I hope you can bring Danielle Panabaker and the original boyfriend back for the third movie. They made a wonderful couple and were believable. I haven't watched the Confession yet, so maybe I will like the replacement actress, but Danielle was so great in the Shunning that I was looking forward to her again.

  25. I think there needs to be another sequel to the confession..... Enjoy this type of movies..... please let there be another one. thank you......

  26. loved sherry and katie in this movie.so hope michael will put some flashbacks in showing katie and laura building their relationship.

  27. Such a great story but I really dislike they didn't bring back the original Katie and Daniel. they were so great and believable and had such great chemistry together. I really loved the boy who played Daniel in the first one. Nothing against the new actors but having different faces just ruins the movie for me. Please bring back the original cast for the third movie. That would make it so much more special. A real reunion of sorts!

  28. I would love a number 3!

  29. The Shunning movie was believable and enjoyable to watch. The Confession movie seemed disjointed (perhaps i need to read the novel), and was not believable (seemed like a rushed production) and far less enjoyable to watch because of the change in actress/actor.

  30. Hello, I just finished watching the Shunning and the Confession and must say they were a real treat to watch. And of course brought me to tears a few times. I was wondering is there going to be another move we can be watching for to follow up these two outstanding movies. It was left like there should be more. I would love to see another one or two or three. Will there be a series maybe? Thanks for you time and God bless.

  31. Loved both movies! Can't wait for the next one.... we're waiting.... is it done yet?????

  32. Loved both movies, can't wait for a sequel to the confession!

  33. Are there any plans to make The Reckoning, which is the 3rd book, a movie? If so when? I would love to see it

  34. The author always writes a trilogy----or more accurately tells a story in 3 parts as each book does not stand alone. (Makes more money this way.) That is the reason why you felt "hanging". I enjoy her writing, but totally dislike the way she compiles her "books" and refuse to buy them at a store. Instead, I borrow from the library or pick them up secondhand at garage sales, etc.

  35. We loved both movies and anxiously await The Reckoning! When is it going to be produced and released? Also who wrote "Lord of my Heart?" That is one gorgeous hymn!! We Watch The Confession over and over again!!

  36. We loved both movies, also love "Lord of my Heart"! When will The Reckoning be produced and released?? Can't wait for it!

  37. There is a Cfdb page for The Reckoning which implies a tentative 2015 release (google for cfdb the reckoning) but there isn't much information aside from that.

  38. I must confess, I am disappointed that the actress for the character of Katie is not the same as with the first movie. I couldn't help but be attached to the first actress- she did such a wonderful job portraying that character! This is not to say the second actress didn't do well, I just hate seeing a sequel where the actors are not the same.
