Network: BYU

Original Air Date: November 22, 2012

CAST:

Unknown

PLOT:

Learn the inspiring story behind the creation of the popular Christmas carol Silent Night—discover how Joseph Mohr, as new assistant priest, went against his superior to organize a church choir full of outcasts that performed in German instead of Latin.

In 1818, when Joseph Mohr is assigned to be the new assistant priest in Oberndorf, a small Austrian town near Salzburg, the young man is full of ideas and ideals. But his passion to bring the church closer to the common people sets him on a collison course with his new superior Father Noestler. As Mohr's initial successes start to crumble and his efforts backfire on him, he loses all hope and faces a trial of faith. The night before Christmas, Mohr has to decide if he will accept defeat and leave Oberndorf or embrace the true significance of the Holy Night.

  2. The movie's intended audience will likely be satisfied by its parade of gory mayhem, cheap thrills and groan-worthy dark humor. Everyone else: You're on your own.

    1. I think that you mixed up the Silent Night movie produced by BYUtv in 2012 with a horror film that premiered the same year with the same name.
