Christmas Magic - Hallmark Channel Movie

MOVIE REVIEW

Christmas Magic

Network: Hallmark Channel

Original Air Date: December 18, 2011

*This movie is available on DVD!

CAST:

Lindy Booth ... Carrie Bishop
Derek McGrath ... Henry
Paul McGillion ... Scott Walker
Kieara Glasco ... Scott's Daughter

PLOT:

Carrie Bishop (Booth) lives for her successful career as an event planner in New York City, but her life changes in an instant after a nasty car accident in a snowstorm. Carrie suffers head trauma and regains consciousness in Central Park with an older man, Henry (McGrath). Henry is Carrie’s spirit guide and is there to help her “pass over” to Heaven. But before Carrie can move on, she must fulfill one last task on Earth—a type of Angel Duty. Henry tells Carrie that she must help guide a widowed, young restaurant owner, Scott Walker, (McGillion) who has recently considered suicide because his beloved restaurant/catering business is utterly failing. Carrie befriends Scott and his 8-year-old daughter (Glasco) and immediately displays a knack for promoting the restaurant. But time isn’t on Carrie’s side on this mission. She has until midnight Christmas Eve to turn the eatery around. As friendship grows, romance blooms, and Carrie finds it a struggle to keep business and pleasure separate. Will the heat in Scott’s kitchen be all about the food? Or is one Angel on a meteoric rise to earn her wings?

    1. Mighty Big Word is pleased to announce the release of a new, full length recording of Angel Like You (a.k.a. Fallin’ Angel). A lot of hard work went into this song, and we’re very proud of how it turned out. Hope you enjoy it.

  8. I didn't really like this "Christmas" movie. The actors didn't have any chemistry at all. Lindy Booth is a very beautiful woman about 32 years old. They should have casted her with someone more her age or at least equal in looks! Paul McGillion is 42 but he looks like he's 50. GROSS! He's good but not for that role. Someone like David Sutcliffe would be a better acting partner for Lindy Booth. The movie was pretty much a copy of the movie Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon. Accept this movie was slow paced, not funny, and not charming. The ending was so unbearably dumb I couldn't believe it! The song at the end that is such a "big deal" in this movie for some reason is absolutely disgusting. Bad singing. Bad acting. Bad movie all around! It didn't give me warm and fuzzy feelings like other Christmas movies do. Actually how they portrayed angels rubbed me the wrong way! If you want to watch a better "angel" movie, the Mrs. Miracle movies are fantastic!

  11. This movie was cute up until the end. When he started playing his keyboard and she woke up out of her coma - a little too corny for me. Just as bad as when Florence Henderson (Carol Brady) sings her husband Mike Brady out of the mine in a Very Brady Christmas. LOL! Compared to Root Beer Christmas and Trading Christmas, this was - in my opinion - wasn't as good. Thank you for blog - it is AWESOME even when it is not Christmas. Happy New Year!

  16. I thought it was an excellent movie. I have a dvd burner and I am burning it over to a dvd without the commercials off my direct tv DVR. I really thought it was very touching. The christmas list and a mom for Christmas is very good also. try to see them this year, if they are on. when angels come to town is pretty good.

  17. I thought it was a very good movie, sort of a love story but it also has a good line. What is really neat, is it makes one think about what is important to them. I also really like " a mom for christmas", "The christmas list", and when angels come to town. they all have good story lines. if you have a chance to see them this year, please do.

  19. It is an ok movie, could be much better. The ending of the movie particularly when she's done all this work to help him is deplorable (just my opinion). I really don't think there's much chemistry between the two actors.

  20. I thought this was a wonderful christmas movie and my mom would really like to have it. I wish I could give it to her for christmas but, I cant find it. Please help. Merry Christmas!

  21. Are you people serious? This was a good movie? It was horrible! I don't mind a good Christmas movie with a lesson about what the season is really about but Frosty the Snowman (yes the cartoon) does a better job in a shorter time frame and the songs are better too! Really "Fallen Angel" Ouch!! There is a reason there is no YouTube video of this song. The whole movie is a mess. I had to watch a Seinfeld re-run just to cleanse my pallet....

  22. I thought this was an excellent movie and for those who can't appreciate it all I can say is "bah...humbug.." This is one of my favorite Christmas movies ever and the song is really striking as well as the actors chosen for the parts...they were just perfect!!! I'm glad I could enjoy it.

  27. I'd love to buy this movie, but as far as I can see it is only available to buy in the US and they won't accept payment from a non US person. It's so frustrating!! Does anyone know where else I might be able to buy it in the UK??

  31. Just watched the movie tonight, and it is pretty good. The only thing I thought was odd, was when they panned the camera to her face while in the coma. If one is in a coma, one does not frown. Ever.

    1. Yes, well, when one is in a coma, one also doesn't tend to wander around to restaurants and art galleries. ;) So, taking into account the movie's creative license, I think her "coma face" was simply a reflection of her "angel face". She was, after all, in the midst of making a very troubling decision...

  32. I just loved the movie and the song was wonderful I wish that things like that did happen, oh, to be an Angel and be able to help someone you love and still come back and spend the rest of your life with that person
