    1. That's awesome, CH Mom! Whenever for KING & COUNTRY is near me again - I sure want to go! They are so entertaining and best of all, I love their focus on Christ! I think they were the only act that received a standing ovation - and it was well deserved! They are truly fantastic! :)

  2. I'm really looking forward to this movie!

I sure hope this one does well. I am a bit confused why ratings seem to be way down this year. Or am I wrong?

    1. I've been hearing Hallmark's numbers are better than other networks airing Christmas movies, but still not as high as years past. I'll have to crunch the numbers sometime.

So looking forward to Kristin Chenoweth in "A Christmas Love Story" this weekend! I think this musical movie weekend will really pull in viewers.

    3. their ratings are way down, only a few to crack 3 million viewers, when in years past almost every movie is above 3 million, and are actually in the 4 million viewers, and the top movies being over 5 million. I have to think its cause there is a lot of competition out there, and hallmark, to me, the movies this year that I have watched have been slightly better than last year, but still not as good as years past. I used to look forward to movies in past years but at this point there are so many movies I just don't even care if Lacey or Andrew, or Danica have a movie, it almost feels like a chore to watch them.

I did enjoy The Christmas Club a lot, Christmas Under the Stars, Holiday for Heroes, Merry & Bright, but not really enough to care if I ever watch again. One I will watch over and over was Check inn to Christmas, I liked it a lot. Now most of the movies in December I am looking forward too, so I am hoping the ratings will go up and I am thoroughly enjoying Hallmark Drama's movies some of the best movies hallmark have ever made are on that channel.

    4. Hello Sabrina, So true, my friend... although, I'm not really surprised. I think people have learned if they miss the premiere of a movie - they'll be able to see it repeated numerous times, which makes the premiere showing, of course, not as important to see.

As for the new content, I agree - there have been many wonderful films this year. I just think the increased number may turn away some people who feel overwhelmed to keep up or, maybe some, are underwhelmed with the repeating storylines. Who knows.

It is a lot to take in this year, unless one decides to leave some movies off their watch list, which is what I'm doing this year. Time is precious and this Christmas season from Thanksgiving to Christmas Day is a rather short one, so I want to make sure I use every minute wisely.

By the way, I love catching the classic Christmas movies, too! So many favorites there!

    5. While I don't know if Hallmark's ratings have dropped quite as drastically as it may seem, I think it was inevitable that their numbers would take a bit of a hit due to the other networks simply making more movies. Lifetime made a dramatic increase in the number of movies and kicked up the promotion and marketing. It doesn't even really matter at this point if the movies on other networks are good or not. It's just the fact that they are there, and there are more of them than in the past -- and people will tune in to Lifetime or Netflix or UP or whatever to check out what they are offering, since there are so many.

It's all very subjective, but I, personally, have been mostly underwhelmed with the majority of the Lifetime movies I've seen this year, though I have not seen all of them. The ones that I DO like tend to be more similar to Hallmark movies. But I don't feel any sort of attachment to Lifetime's movies at all. In other words, it wouldn't bother me if they went back to only premiering 6 or 7 new ones in a season -- I wouldn't care. I don't feel any sort of allegiance to Lifetime. I usually don't watch their new movies live. Most of what I've watched this year was via On Demand, at a later date. (Thankfully, both Lifetime and UP put their movies in the On Demand menu, unlike Hallmark.)

However, I always watch Hallmark's movies live IF I can manage it -- I'll watch the East Coast premiere of one movie and then catch the West Coast premiere of the other movie. There are some I will even go back and watch again, if I happened to miss a scene or two during the first viewing.

I never stay on Lifetime's channel. I don't even check to see which older movies they are showing most of the time. I will, however, turn on one of the Hallmark Channels and leave it there. There are other viewers, like myself, who are more loyal to Hallmark and don't care too much about what Lifetime is doing. And then there are some viewers who think Lifetime is much better. I'm clearly in the former category and not the latter. I just like what Hallmark does more than I like what Lifetime does, or what UP does, etc.

I think that longtime Hallmark viewers tend to forget that there are new viewers tuning in to the networks all the time. If someone is new to the network and has not been watching for many years, they are not thinking "I loved such and such movie from 2012 so much more than this new one." They are going in with a blank slate and fresh perspective, and maybe they've loved movies from last year or this year.

People who are new or semi-new viewers of Hallmark movies might not like movies that I thought were great from 8 years ago. They might hate all the ones I love, and they might like movies I do not love.

I guess what I am saying is, not everyone is viewing Hallmark movies through the same "lens," with the same history. If I were just introduced to Hallmark movies this year, I'm not sure if I might have a different opinion of some of the movies that I currently love or don't love. Years of watching movies will influence how we think, and, at the same time, coming into the movies with no prior history of watching will also influence people's opinions.

I think that this year's crop of new movies on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries should please a lot of the people who have been complaining that there are not enough movies with substance and depth. This year, there seem to be plenty of those types of movies with substance and more depth. I prefer the movies that are more lighthearted and closer to a rom com formula, and there have been some I've enjoyed from this new batch. But if I were to, for example, have seen "Merry & Bright" 6 years ago instead of now, maybe it would be an all-time favorite instead of just a movie I enjoyed. Who knows?

    6. Candace Cameron Bure's Christmas Town was by far the most watched Hallmark movie this year with just under 4 million viewers.

The HMM channel's 2018 Christmas programme was so spectacular that there it was unlikely they would be able to reach the same standard this year.

Although there have been few so far which have been outstanding I think in general the ones on the main channel have been better than last year.

My personal favourite to date has been Picture A Perfect Christmas.

If Lifetime really does want to rival Hallmark then they're going to have to really improve their game - there have benn a few good ones so far but they just can't compete.

I think as others have said there are just too many Christmas Movies in the mix this year that viewers have to pick and choose which ones to watch and so numbers are more spread around and therefore lower.

  3. I finally got around to watching the CMA Christmas show. I love country music, but, for me, this year's stars were not the country artists. The absolute best performance was by For King and Country -- they were awesome! If I didn't already have all their music, I would definitely go out and buy it. I thought the next best performers were Kristen Chenoweth and CeCe Winans.

    1. Hello Jane! I wholeheartedly agree with you! I too just loved *for KING & COUNTRY* singing “Little Drummer Boy” in this special. I so wanted to see more of them! I have all of their music, too, and I saw them perform this song in person! Plus, with us... they ran out in the crowd singing with their drums and other instruments! It was spectacular!

I noticed the crowd gave them a standing ovation in this special, so obviously they loved it too! I do wonder if they sang more songs on the night they taped it, but those who produced the special only decided to play one of their songs on TV.

Anyway, I'm just glad we were able to see this song, and I hope many will go out, because of this, and seek their music! They are incredible! Especially because we know their heart and Devine message!

Thank you, Jane, for sharing the JOY of *for KING & COUNTRY* with us!

      Blessings to you!!! Net
