The first day of Spring has come this week and Easter Sunday is on it's way! I'm sure you've seen the commercials and stores filled with baskets, bunnies, and candy; however, in honor of this upcoming holy holiday, this Sunday UP-TV will have the premiere of...
via UP-TV: The UP Premiere Movie "Noah's Ark," is a retelling of the biblical story of Noah and The Ark. Noah, a farmer and family man, is instructed by an angel to build an ark in the middle of a desert in order to save both his family and the faithful from a devastating flood. A seemingly impossible task, especially when his sons refuse to believe him and help, Noah risks ridicule and humiliation from the degenerate townsfolk as well as his loving but exasperated family, in his quest to carry out his God-given task. Co-produced with the BBC, "Noah's Ark" is a timeless tale; a story of family and faith; about one man's belief and fixation with building the ark which will ultimately save his family and mankind. It is an obsession which leads to the fragmentation of his family, a test of their faith in their father and their father’s faith in God and everything he believes in.

Also this weekend, the Hallmark Channel will have the cable premiere of...
Please note: This movie was first released on DVD in 2012, but this will be it's first premiere on TV. The DVD of 'The Chateau Meroux' is rated 'PG-13', however, I noticed it is has a television rating of 'TV-PG'. Whether or not, it has been edited for TV, I do not know... but, I did want to caution that many of the reviews on Amazon, say this movie contains many "awkward sexual jokes and innuendos". I wanted to be certain you were all aware of this before watching. You can see reviews on Amazon.com.
Storyline: Big city girl Wendy moves to Napa Valley after inheriting her father's struggling winery and soon falls in love with both the business and local boy Chris. But things get complicated when she learns that Chris is the son of her chief competitor.
See my page on The Chateau Meroux for more details.
so thankful for this site and the cautions you add!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I appreciate all of you, too!
DeleteI will not be watching Noah's Ark as this is not the account
ReplyDeletein the Bible. His son's were willing to help and only 8 people were
saved: Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives. No mention
of anyone else being saved. The entire family trusted in God or
they would not have been allowed into the ark.
In order to make a 2 hour story, they would have to make up some of the dialogue between Noah and his family and since no one knows exactly what they said to Noah during all that time, of course some of it will be fictional, and not 100% Biblical, but I don't think this version will sway away from story in the Bible, like the Russell Crowe one did. That was so terrible and not even close to the actual story. I'm looking forward to seeing if this movie is more accurate.
DeleteI am so glad you warned us about The Chateau Meroux. I watched it without my kids and was stunned with all the raunchy behavior and then my husband walked in during halftime and was surprised this was a Hallmark movie. I told him I was also surprised, but grateful you had warned us. Thank you. If this is the kind of movies the Hallmark Channel plans to put out in the future, then we won't be watching. Kathryn
ReplyDeleteI've seen the actual movie and Hallmark actually cleaned it up some, editing out language, and some of the sexual references that made me feel uncomfortable and, yet, there was still plenty of it. I didn't like this movie the first go around but was so surprised Hallmark was playing it, I just had to see what they would do with it. It still was nothing special and all the dirty stuff, and noticeable edits, cheapened the romance and story.
DeleteAll I can say is great cast, terrible story. Thanks for the heads up. I also did not watch with my children and was glad I didn't several times over.
DeleteYeah, Net, not appropriate for family viewing; something I was surprised seeing on the Hallmark Channel. The only positive was the consequences of lying. I should have read your review first, my bad!!
