The film also has a prominent story arc for “Vincent the Dog” and other adorable canines, part of Crown Media Family Networks’ (home of Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries) global pet initiative and the company’s steadfast commitment to end pet homelessness by using entertainment to show the joys pets bring to our lives every day. “The Art of Us” is a modern retelling of “My Fair Lady.” Dr. Harper Higgins (Cole) is determined to land a tenured position at Boston College, and she is counting on curating a big art gallery at the university to do so. But when Higgins loses her showcase artist and can find no one else, she turns to her recently hired dog walker Tom Stone (Lund) who, unbeknownst to anyone, is a very skilled painter. Transforming Tom into a credible, respected artist is going to take work, but Dr. Higgins feels up to the challenge. The only complication comes when professor and artist fall for each other during the charade and risk being outed by a competing professor.

My *Quick* Take...

I love the original "My Fair Lady" movie starring Audrey Hepburn - so I can't wait to see this modern "twisted" re-telling of this classic film, on the Hallmark Channel! If you recall, there was a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, "The Makeover," which also had a plot twist on the original "My Fair Lady" movie. In it, the characters also flipped gender roles, as actress Julia Stiles portrayed Hannah Higgins, actor David Walton portrayed Elliot Doolittle, and Camryn Manheim portrayed Colleen Pickering. Should be interesting to see how different or similar this movie is to that one!

So -- What do you think of this movie storyline and the pairing of Hallmark regulars Taylor Cole (“Christmas at Homestead”) and Steve Lund (“Christmas Incorporated”)? Potentially a good match-up, I think, but I would love to know your thoughts on it!?!?

INSP Films Shores up Casting for “Christmas on the Coast”

(Indian Land, SC – March 28, 2017) INSP Films is finalizing casting of its newest film, Christmas on the Coast, a romantic drama currently being filmed in St. Simons, Brunswick and Darien, Georgia. The announcement was made by Gary Wheeler, Vice President of Original Movies at INSP Films.

In Christmas on the Coast, Drucinda “Dru” Cassadine is a best-selling romance novelist whose sales and fan base are on the decline. She is forced to head back to her hometown, the idyllic Harbor Pointe for Christmas to write “the novel of her life” by the end of the holiday season. However, she isn’t quite prepared for what awaits her when she gets there.

Cast in the leading role as Dru Cassadine is Julie Ann Emery (Better Call Saul, Fargo, Major Crimes). Brysen Flynn will be played by Burgess Jenkins (Remember The Titans, Nashville, Army Wives). Cait Pool (Sun Records, Vice Principals) is set to play Brysen’s daughter, Peyton. The movie is slated to feature veteran actors Bonnie Bedelia (Parenthood, Die Hard, The Division) as Ellie Cassadine and Clarence Gilyard Jr. (Walker, Texas Ranger, Matlock, Top Gun) as Fletcher Reese.

“This is a warm, family-friendly, holiday romance with a great cast. Christmas on the Coast offers the viewer a story of hope, escape, and reconciliation. My Thoughts...

Set in the beautiful countryside of Georgia's southern landscape, “Christmas on the Coast” sounds like it will be a wonderful family Christmas film! It is interesting to see in the press release above- it will be released in September! I am wondering if that means for special early showings - around the location where they filmed, etc... and then it will premiere on the television network INSP - sometime during the Christmas season! That's just my hunch!

As for the cast, the lead female role is portrayed by Julie Ann Emery, who also starred as the mother who adopted the young girl in the touching Hallmark Hall of Fame film "Pictures of Hollis Woods!" That is such a wonderful movie, that tugs at every heart string and even ends with a warm Christmas scene! Julie's character was an integral part of what made that movie so special... so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing her in this!

The leading male role in the “Christmas on the Coast” film is portrayed by Burgess Jenkins, who starred as the father in the uplifting, inspiring UP premiere television movie "I Am Potential." This is, yet, another poignant, emotionally moving heartwarming film and Burgess Jenkins' role in it was compelling!

The rest of the “Christmas on the Coast” cast, is also filled with familiar faces from entertainment - so I'm sure you will want to see this All New Family Christmas Movie - “Christmas on the Coast” when it comes later This Year on TV - exclusively on INSP!!!

My Take...

In the Press Release above it mentions one of Courtney Thorne-Smith's acting credits as "Life with Jim." Instead, it should be "According to Jim." Courtney starred as the wife of actor Jim Belushi in that half hour sitcom series for 8 seasons, from 2001–2009. One of her co-stars in the series was actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who will be starring in her own Hallmark movies this year, one of them being a Christmas movie with her sister Ashley - Lights, Camera, Christmas: Part One and Part Two!

As mentioned above, this all new mystery series starring Courtney Thorne-Smith, is based on the book series by Dana Cameron. I am not personally familiar with her stories, but you can read more about her work on Amazon- which has lots of reviews!
