Friday, November 8, 2024:

Storyline: When students all flee an elite university in Vermont for winter break, the locals and faculty hunker down for their favorite time of year - the annual Christmas Bar Trivia Tournament! For Celeste (Sursok), a Type-A astronomy professor, this event combines the magic of Christmas with her greatest comfort in life: knowing the right answer. But when her colleague drops out of the tournament to do a month-long lecture tour in Asia, Celeste's team must adopt Max (Daugherty), the football team's new offensive coordinator. To Celeste, Max seems like nothing more than a grown-up class clown - though he brings an undeniable knowledge of sports trivia (a category their team has always fallen short in). Initial clashes between the two eventually turn into mutual appreciation as the team enjoys scavenger hunts on campus, decorating the international house with Christmas lights, baking Christmas cookies, and advancing toward the championship trivia game. Celeste can't help but delight in Max's infectious enthusiasm, love for all things Christmas and perhaps most importantly, his comfort with the unknown. And after a romantic wintery night at the campus observatory with Max, Celeste starts to wonder if being open to life's surprises is more important than knowing the answer to everything.

I hope you all enjoy many of the new and old Christmas movies this weekend!

Most of the new premieres look great to me, but I'm especially looking forward to seeing Christmas Under the Northern Lights! I've always liked both Jill Wagner and Jesse Hutch, so I expect this to be a good one! (My scripture choice below was inspired by this movie!)

I'm also looking forward to seeing Erin Krakow and Daniel Lissing paired together again in Hallmark's Santa Tell Me. Should be sweet to see this special When Calls the Heart reunion.

Which movie do you most want to see this weekend???

Please note: I haven't pre-screened the new movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

Visit the *Christmas TV Schedule* for the dates and times of NEW Christmas movies.

You can find the 2024 Christmas Movie Review post *here*.

Happy Christmas Movie-Watching!

SHINING HIS LIGHT:

My scripture choice this weekend was inspired by the new Great American Family premiere, Christmas Under the Northern Lights. God's creation is so spectacular; it never ceases to amaze me!

"When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?"
~Psalm 8:3-5
(New King James Version)

🌟 Happy Election Day 🌟 God Bless America!

Happy Election Day, to all of my fellow American Friends!

I want to encourage those of you who visit here to VOTE TODAY, if you haven't already. In the past, I have mostly voted on Election Day, but in the last two elections, I voted early. It wasn't too long of a wait—maybe 20 minutes.

Our soldiers fought and died for our freedom and the right to vote, so it was my honor to vote to honor them and their sacrifice. Although I do not live in a swing state, I still feel every vote is truly important.

My prayer is that our country will return to virtuous, conservative values. As a Christian, I believe it is imperative that my vote is based on my core beliefs and Biblical principles that are found in the scriptures.

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land” ~2 Chronicles 7:14

I will be glued to my TV today watching the results as they come in. If it gets too intense, I might have to turn it to a Christmas movie to destress for a minute or two... perhaps a classic, like Home Alone 2. (wink! wink!)

Of course, in all seriousness, I will be praying for this Election Day and the future of America... placing it all in God's Almighty Hands.

Have a GREAT day!
*God Bless the USA*,

Movie Reviews:

πŸŽ„ "Country Roads Christmas. (FoxNation subscription Christmas movie.) Beautiful singing, especially ‘O Holy Night’; the lead actress has a beautiful voice and I actually thought her “father” was singing but it turns out they had seamlessly dubbed in a professional singer and it sounded great. The movie had a few odd, disjointed and cheesy bits that didn’t fit or make sense but, overall, it was nice for a one-time watch. It wasn’t overly Christmassy. And the romance was backseat to the family reuniting storyline. Also, it’s another one of those movies where the female initiates first kiss and declaration of love; ugh. I wouldn’t recommend buying the dvd but if they play it on UPtv next year, it would be okay for a one-time watch (if only for the music). Family friendly." ~~Jane

πŸŽ„ "Country Roads Christmas – This movie was a nice addition to the Christmas movies available to stream through Fox Nation. My subscription with them was about to run out, so I decided to give this movie a watch before it was gone. Overall, the movie is family friendly, about a grown-up daughter, Skye, who loses her job and becomes her father’s (Harris) road manager. Harris is a well-known country singer whose been singing on the road for many years; he left his wife and daughter years ago, so there are old emotional wounds that need healing. I loved hearing them sing the John Denver classic, “Country Roads,” and Skye sings beautifully throughout the movie. She was played by Lanie McAuley, who you may remember from Chesapeake Shores, The Song to my Heart, or Write Before Christmas. It was also nice to see Lauren Holly (The Town That Came A-Courtin', Call Me Mrs. Miracle, A Country Wedding) portray Skye’s mother and the wife Harris had left years ago. Along the road, there is forgiveness, redemption, and love… so it’s definitely worth the trip!" ~Net

My NEW Christmas Movie Picks For This Weekend:

Based on the promo I've seen and a sneak peek at one of the scenes, I think A Carol for Two looks sweet! Ginna Claire Mason reminds me of the legendary actress and singer Doris Day (do you see the resemblance in the images above?), which makes me wonder if this movie title might be inspired by Doris' classic film, Tea for Two. A Carol for Two is one of those movies that may have a winning combination: romance, comedy, singing, dancing, and, best of all, Christmas! Hopefully, it's a good one!

Plus, I like both Brittany Bristow and Will Kemp, so I'm looking forward to seeing their new movie together, My Sweet Austrian Holiday. I'm hoping I won't keep thinking of Love, Romance, and Chocolate while I'm watching and waiting for Lacey Chabert to appear.

Great American Family's new movie, Tails of Christmas, might be doggone cute, so I'll have to see!

Please share which new Christmas movie has caught your eye this weekend in comments below.

Please note: I haven't pre-screened the new movies listed above, except Country Roads Christmas. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments. And, if you missed it, you can read Jane's and my review of Country Roads Christmas above.

INSP’s Breakthrough Series ELKHORN Greenlit for a 2nd Season

Press Release via INSP:

INSP’s Breakthrough Series ELKHORN
Greenlit for a 2nd Season

[Indian Land, SC – October 28, 2024] – Western themed general entertainment network INSP today announced that the highly acclaimed series ELKHORN has officially been greenlit for a second season. The new season is expected to premiere on INSP in the fall of 2025. The announcement comes from Craig Miller, VP of Original Programming for INSP and an Executive Producer for the series.

ELKHORN, a scripted period drama inspired by true events, brings to life the dramatic story of young Theodore Roosevelt (played by Mason Beals), who abruptly leaves his promising political career in New York for the unforgiving Dakota Badlands. There, he carves out the sprawling Elkhorn Ranch and transforms himself into a cowboy and a cattleman.

“When we left Theodore Roosevelt at the end of season one, the future president had somehow managed to establish Elkhorn as a formidable ranch while still reeling from the deaths of his wife and mother,” said Miller. “In season two, Roosevelt finds enemies at every turn as he struggles to keep the ranch afloat.”

In ELKHORN season 2, Roosevelt and his fellow ranchers must defend themselves against the men of the Chicago Beef Trust, who embark on a campaign of sabotage and violence to protect their stronghold on the local cattle market.

Roosevelt continues his power struggle with the enigmatic town founders, the Marquis de MorΓ©s and his wife, Medora, who reign over the townsfolk with threats, intimidation, and hired guns.

Amid this turmoil, Roosevelt also learns to navigate the cramped quarters of the Elkhorn cabin with the wives of his partners, Bill Sewall and Wilmot Dow. Though Roosevelt agreed to let the men bring their wives when they returned from Maine, the women’s presence is clearly unnerving for the recently widowed Roosevelt, who moved to the Badlands to escape the painful memory of his own wife's death.

The series is produced for INSP by MorningStar Entertainment, with Executive Producers Gary Tarpinian and Paninee Theeranuntawat, along with Craig Miller from INSP.

Movie Reviews:

🌟 Operation Nutcracker was incredible! Hope Hallmark decides to air it later this year. -Maria

🌟 Review: Operation Nutcracker -
Family-friendly? Yes -
Recommend? Yes -

Not a great movie, but the pluses far outweigh the negative. First, I enjoyed going along on the adventure of Ashley and Christopher trying to find the missing nutcracker. I had no idea where this adventure was taking me, and that made it so enjoyable. What really won me over was the ending - I am not going to spoil it, but let me say it was very heartwarming! And Christopher must have gotten the message - his performance was very low-key and spot-on, and the smiling was limited! (In fact, this may be my favorite performance of his!) The major downside for me was - what is becoming too common - the constant near-misses in finding the nutcracker. Tiresome! Anyway, it is a fun ride, so I recommend it, at least for a watch or two. ~Mark 25

🌟 Operation Nutcracker—I wasn't really sure what to expect from this movie, but immediately, I was drawn in by the plight of finding the priceless Nutcracker, which was the main auction piece for the Christmas charity function benefiting the local Children's hospital. The Nutcracker goes missing at the airport when two passengers mistakenly swap their luggage.

Ashley Newbrough portrays Lottie Morgan, an event planner who is planning the Warby Charity Auction given by Evelyne Warby. Christopher Russell portrays Evelyne's son, Tristan Warby, who is in charge of transporting the Nutcracker. When the Nutcracker goes missing, Tristan convinces Lottie to help him search for it! It's hilarious to watch these two scheme and work together; I could definitely feel a connection between them.

My only qualm was - several times we heard comments about believing in or trusting in the universe. Otherwise, this was a lighthearted, delightful Christmas movie ideal for all ages. Even younger viewers might enjoy the mystery of looking for the Nutcracker. ~Net

There are certainly many exciting and fascinating Christmas movie selections this weekend!

In case you missed it, I included movie reviews above from Maria, Mark 25, and myself, for Operation Nutcracker, which first premiered during Christmas in July on Hallmark's streaming service Hallmark+.

This weekend I'm personally looking forward to seeing the premieres of A Christmas Castle Proposal and The Christmas Charade. I'm not always the royal movie lover, but there are a few I still love like A Princess for Christmas and Crown for Christmas. So, I'm intrigued to see this new royal movie offering. Rhiannon Fish's royal ball gown is certainly stunning.

As for The Christmas Charade, I am rather surprised that this movie, which has a mystery theme, is not premiering on Hallmark Mystery. But I'm glad it will air on the Hallmark Channel where more people will be able to see it. Again, I'm thrilled to see Corey Sevier and Rachel Skarsten working together, as I was when they recently premiered a new (non-holiday) mystery movie, Jazz Ramsey: A K-9 Mystery. If you aren't aware, the two worked together as pre-teens and teenagers on the TV series, Little Men, which ran for two seasons from 1998 to 1999. So, it's fun to see them working together again, plus all of the promos for their new Christmas movie look so fun. I hope it's as good as it looks!

Please note: I haven't pre-screened the new movies listed above (except Operation Nutcracker). If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

SHINING HIS LIGHT:

"But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.
And whoever exalts himself will be humbled,
and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
~Matthew 23:11-12

Let Us Love Like Jesus...

Jesus, who is Lord and King of All, was born in humble beginnings in a straw-filled manger amongst barn animals. From there, He spent His time on earth looking for ways to serve, encourage, and give to others. God is calling us, through His example, to the same kind of servant leadership. May we find significant and little meaningful ways to serve and uplift others throughout this Christmas season!

πŸŽ„ How To Make Your Home Look Like A Festive, Joyous, Merry And Bright Christmas Movie πŸŽ„

'Tis the Season
for decorating our homes
 once again, for Christmas!

Have any of you begun to bring out your favorite holiday pieces, or do you wait until November or after Thanksgiving?

Whenever you choose to begin, there's nothing like bringing out the nostalgic Christmas items we cherish once again, that have been tucked away ever-so-gently for safekeeping since last year. Even the ones that have little flaws are still meaningful.

My favorite Christmas decoration is our Nativity, which celebrates the birth of Jesus, the main focus of our Christmas celebration.

So, whether it's our Nativity, the stockings, ornaments, and so on, I cherish those older pieces and look forward each year to adding new items that will one day be treasured mementos.

As I watch the Christmas movies currently airing on TV, I'm often mesmerized by all of the beautiful homes decorated so festively and lovely, with the twinkling lights of Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths, gingerbread houses, Christmas villages, and more!

I wanted to share today some beautiful new Christmas pieces you might want to add to your home this holiday season...
