"The Watsons Go To Birmingham" Premieres on the Hallmark Channel

In honor of the 50th anniversary of pivotal events in the Civil Rights movement, the Hallmark Channel is proud to present "The Watsons Go To Birmingham," a Hallmark Channel Original Movie World Premiere on Friday September 20th at 8 PM est.

The film follows an all American family on their road trip from Flint, Michigan to Birmingham, Alabama in 1963 and their historic summer experiences give them a newfound courage to stand up for what is right and helps them grow stronger as a family in the process. Plus, as you watch... you and your children will recognize Skai Jackson, from the Disney Channel Sitcom, "Jessie", as Joetta Watson.

Carter and Jordyn Flynn (Payne, Forbes) aren't the average mom and dad. For them, a typical workday can take place anywhere in the world, raiding ornate museums and evading pursuing authorities as Hunters, protectors of powerful fairy tale artifacts that are anything but make believe. While they take their jobs seriously, they're just as concerned about the welfare of their two sons, 21-year old Paxton (Amell) and 16-year old Tripp (Tracey), who are unaware of their parents' true line of work.

When Carter and Jordyn disappear after being intercepted by the mysterious Mai during one of their missions, the boys learn the truth about their parents and their lineage from the Flynns' young assistant Dylan (Vega). They turn to old family friend Mason (Garber) for help but they soon discover that the deceitful Mason is after what the Flynns were trying to protect - an enchanted mirror that has the ability to grant any wish. It's got quite a history, too: It's the same mirror that played a pivotal role in the destiny of Snow White. It becomes evident that it's up to the valiant brothers and Dylan to save the day before very real fairy tale magic falls into Mason's less-than-worthy hands.

Jamie Kelly (Lind) marches to the beat of her own music video. An artistic and energetic glitter-loving diva in the making, the 11-year old’s vivid daydreams about how life should be often played out as full-blown musical productions. In her mind, Hudson Rivers (Mazouz), the eighth cutest boy in Mackerel Middle School, returns her affections. As a result, Jamie pours out her innermost thoughts in her cherished diary and shares some of her feelings with her beloved Aunt Carol as well as her shrewd best friend Isabella (Jones), who may not be the best influence on her.

When Mackerel Middle School’s arts program is threatened because of budget cuts, Assistant Principal Devon announces the district’s first-ever Jump-a-thon fundraiser. Jamie sees her winning participation as an opportunity to not only save the arts program but to impress Hudson and, by beating Angeline, bring justice to ordinary people of the world. At the same time, she becomes the unwitting participant in one of Isabella’s schemes and her diary goes missing. As the story progresses, Jamie recognizes the importance of doing the right thing, learns not to judge by appearances and puts aside personal feelings for the greater good. She also discovers her own sparkling inner beauty, which was there all along.

PLOT:

At fourteen, Pete Kidder (Gordon) is sick of being the middle child in his family, always overlooked by his parents (Parker and Roberts). Unlike his brothers, jock Jake (Wesley Morgan, “The Rocker”) and bookworm Kenny, (Peter DaCunha, “A Dark Truth), Pete hasn’t yet developed a distinct personality that sets him apart, and he often feels left out. With the kids’ grumpy grandfather (Dern) unexpectedly in town for Christmas, the pressure is on to make the day as great as Grandpa remembers with his late wife, but the holiday is filled with disastrous moments, including a toppling Christmas tree and a bout with food poisoning. Just when things can’t get any worse, Pete wakes up the next day and realizes he’s reliving December 25th all over again. Stuck repeating the day over and over, Pete panics, but slowly realizes, with the help of his new friend and next door neighbor, Katie (Madison), that he can use his unique gift for good and give this Christmas day the do-over it deserves.

Movie Review:

Pete’s Christmas was everything I expected it to be! There were definite similarities to the ABC Family Movie “Christmas Everyday” starring Erik Von Detten, yet since I already expected it- I didn’t mind it all. Instead of Basketball, Pete had some trouble with football and in “Christmas Everyday” the father and brother are having a disagreement, and in Pete’s Christmas it’s the father and the Grandpa.

I also saw things that reminded me of “Home Alone”, too…. The pizza delivery boy bringing the stack of pizzas and the younger brother drinking too much and wetting the bed. Also, in one scene Pete and his Grandfather decide to lick a pole, just like “A Christmas Story”.

I thought it was an interesting story about this family. Pete was such a real character, with relatable everyday problems and an usual problem, too… of re-living Christmas Day over & over!

I enjoyed the movie with my family and the great "unexpected" message behind it! I don’t want to give it away, but a small empty box, given to Pete, from his Grandfather will, in the end, give you the answer to true happiness!

Hallmark Channel makes deal with Walden Media

On March 15, 2013 the Hallmark Channel is set to launch

“Walden Family Theater”!

Inspired by the weekly "Wonderful World of Disney" family movies... A new agreement has been made between the Hallmark Channel and Walden Media to bring to their network New Family Movies on Friday Nights!

Walden Media is well-known for creating it’s own library of Family Films, including "The Chronicles of Narnia series", "Holes", "Bridge to Terabithia", "Nim’s Island", "Charlotte’s Web", "Amazing Grace", "Journey to the Center Of The Earth", and the recent hit "Parental Guidance".

This year the “Walden Family Theater” will be giving us six new films on the Hallmark Channel and Walmart will sell DVDs of the new movies the Tuesday after they premiere. In addition to these new movies, they will also showcase “a variety of beloved original movies from Hallmark Channel’s vast library”.

The sponsors of this event will be Walmart and P&G.... who you may remember also used to endorse the Family Movie Night films that aired on NBC and FOX. Movies like: “Secrets of the Mountain”, “Change of Plans”, “Field of Vision”, “Truth be Told”, etc...

The first premiere movie for the “Walden Family Theater”, on March 15, will be “Return to Nim's Island”, produced by Walden Media & ARC Entertainment, and starring Bindi Irwin (daughter of the late Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter), Matthew Lillard, Toby Wallace, and Nathan Derrick.

Expect the next new movie in May... “Space Warriors”, starring Dermot Mulroney, Mira Sorvino, and Josh Lucas.

The Hallmark Channel has been quite dependable in bringing to it’s viewers good family entertainment and it looks like this agreement with Walden Media will be sure to give us more of the same! We look forward to watching Friday Family Movie Nights!
