🐑❤️ Movie Review 'The Sheep Detectives' - A Heartfelt, Humorous Mystery with Spiritual Themes

I wanted to share a movie review with you all for The Sheep Detectives, which arrived in theaters in May and on Amazon Prime Video on June 24, 2026.

I streamed this movie for free last week through my Prime account, and days after seeing it, various themes from the story are still on my heart, and I wanted to share those thoughts with you all...

Movie Review - The Sheep Detectives:

First of all, this movie is labeled as a PG-rated family-friendly mystery – although I want to caution that this is a murder mystery. It’s not graphic by any means (think your standard Hallmark or Great American Family mystery), but younger children may become emotionally attached to the character who is killed and could be troubled by the loss.

To be completely honest, even though it happens fairly early in the story, I was already attached to this character, too!

In the beginning of the movie, we are introduced to George Hardy (Hugh Jackman), a devoted shepherd who takes good care of his sheep each day and even names each one. At the end of the day, the sheep gather around George as he reads murder mysteries aloud to them... and, to his surprise, they seem genuinely interested in the stories.

At first, George thinks it might be silly, but his sheep are essentially his family, and he enjoys caring for them and making them happy. There are constant themes in the movie taken from Christianity, as the Good Shepherd (God) also cares intimately for his sheep.

I also want to note that the sheep in this movie do talk to each other (which is very cute!), but they don't speak to humans. Of course, that element is something that will appeal to children, but I want to caution that due to some of the violence and sadness, this is not a movie, in my opinion, for really young viewers.

Spiritual Themes:

While The Sheep Detectives is not a faith-based movie, there are Christian themes woven throughout the story in some very interesting ways. God is compared to the Great Shepherd and a lamb, which I thought was beautiful.

However, I want you to be aware that there are a few religious misinterpretations in this film, as well. At one point, the sheep misunderstand the meaning of communion and remark, “Poor God,” thinking that he turns into bread and is actually eaten. The sheep are also confused about the afterlife, believing that when they die, they turn into clouds. While the idea is presented in a somewhat innocent and sweet way, it is certainly a misconception. Thankfully, the truth is clarified later in the movie.

On a positive spiritual note, there are also beautiful parallels to the lost sheep. At one point, George discovers a sheep being mistreated and pays to rescue it and bring it home, which symbolizes Jesus' payment for our debts. George is also shown carrying that sheep in the very same way Jesus is often depicted carrying a sheep on his shoulders.

(SPOILER)
Later, this same sheep gives his life to save others, which was such a touching and truly unexpected, heartbreaking scene that brought tears to my eyes; it was another powerful parallel to the Lamb of God who gave his life on the cross to save the lost.
(End of SPOILER)

Other Movie Themes:

Along with the intrigue of the mystery, which is interesting to try to solve, there’s also a lot of heart and humor in this movie. I really enjoyed Lily, the main female sheep character, who is smart, gentle, soft-spoken, tender-hearted, and wonderfully clever at solving mysteries. She quickly became one of my favorites!

The police officer is also a lot of fun to watch. He is a novice when it comes to crime-solving, but with a little help from the sheep, he slowly begins piecing together the clues and unraveling the mystery.

Of course, watching talking sheep assist with a murder investigation makes for some very unique, and often quite funny, detective work!

Language:

When three of the lead sheep - Sebastian, Lily, & Mopple - are walking into town for the first time, they pass the church – where Sebastian says God lives. This is also when Sebastian discusses God as a shepherd and a lamb, and he mentions that God d*mns things, but Lily and Mopple mistake that word for Beavers damming things. I don’t recall any other language in the movie besides this.

Final Thoughts:

It is definitely a movie I would encourage parents to preview before watching with children, especially because of the murder and the emotional weight of the story. But for older children and families who enjoy a unique mystery with plenty of heart, this is one that may give you quite a bit to talk about afterward. You may want to discuss the various faith elements in the film and how we are all lost sheep in need of our Savior, the Good Shepherd.

Overall, this movie is heartwarming, funny, and sweet. In the end, it has positive messages about loving those around you, even those who don’t exactly fit in. The baby winter lamb truly stole my heart, and I’m certain he’ll steal yours, too!

Where to watch:

I streamed this movie free with Amazon Prime. If you have a Prime account, *click here* to see if you can stream free, as well.

Or, *click here* for streaming price options for non-Prime members.

The Sheep Detectives is also available to order on DVD and Blu-ray.

Are You Watching the New Mystery Series, Blue Skies?

If you’re looking for a cozy mystery series, I’d love to recommend the UP Faith & Family original, Blue Skies!

I’ve mentioned this series before, but I recently had the chance to watch the first three episodes, and they were all quite enjoyable and family-friendly overall. That said, as with most mystery stories, there are elements of violence and murder that are definitely too intense for very young viewers, so a little discretion is wise.

Otherwise, Blue Skies carries that same comforting, small-town mystery charm you might feel from Hallmark or Great American Family.

The series stars Scarlet Hunter as Detective Jodi Larsen and Markian Tarasiuk (Mistletoe Connection, Christmas Jars) as Ryan Miller.

It’s an intriguing story that follows Jodi, a former member of the military, as she returns to her hometown and begins working at Crystal Ridge National Park as a criminal investigator.

While reconnecting with her father is a meaningful part of her homecoming, she also forms a special bond with a stray dog she names Blue, an incredibly gifted tracking dog with a natural instinct for search and rescue.

Along the way, she reconnects with Ryan, a former high school friend who now runs a local coffee shop and rock-climbing wall. He's clearly someone who shares her love for the outdoors and a bit of adventure.

Each episode presents a new mystery as we watch Jodi settle into her new role, build relationships with her park colleagues, and partner with her loyal K9 companion, who quickly becomes a favorite among the team.

It was also interesting to see an appearance from Chesapeake Shores and Mistletoe Connection actress, Jessica Sipos (seen in the picture above).

You can stream Blue Skies on UP Faith & Family or through Amazon. There are 8 episodes in the series and new episodes drop every Thursday - ending on April 9th.

And if you’ve already seen some of the episodes, too, I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

Happy sleuthing!

Great American Family announces in a press release today further confirmation of the weekly series the network will air every Sunday, beginning February 23rd with "County Rescue."

The overall theme for these weekly airings is titled “Faith & Family Sundays.” I am eagerly anticipating all three programs, and I hope many of you will also be tuning in.

Press Release via Great American Media:

GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY ANNOUNCES
'FAITH & FAMILY SUNDAYS,'
30 CONSECUTIVE SUNDAY NIGHTS

AND 'VINDICATION'

NEW YORK, NY – February 13, 2025 – “Faith & Family Sundays” will feature 30 consecutive weeks of new episodes from the network’s Original Series, bringing faith and family together through compelling storytelling. Every Sunday night leading up to Great American Christmas 2025, viewers can look forward to premieres of new episodes of Season Two of “County Rescue,” Season Two of “When Hope Calls,” and Season Four of “Vindication”— each series reflecting the power of faith, service, and redemption.

“County Rescue” highlights the dedication of professionals called to serve others.

“When Hope Calls” is a story of resilience and blessings through hope.

“Vindication” explores redemption and faith-driven justice.

“Despite the media’s focus on rewarding content that isn’t family-friendly, mainstream audiences continue to crave stories rooted in faith, love, and kindness—timeless themes that have produced mega-hits across every era of broadcasting,” said Bill Abbott, President & CEO, Great American Media. “Great American Media is leading the movement to bring faith-filled storytelling back to television, delivering 30 consecutive weeks of uplifting programming every Sunday night. New episodes of County Rescue and When Hope Calls will also be available on our streaming platform, Pure Flix, with our promise of entertainment without compromise,” Abbott concluded.

“Faith & Family Sundays” launches with the Season Two premiere of, “County Rescue,” starring ensemble cast Julia Reilly, Riley Hough, Kristin Wollett, Brett Varvel, Keller Fornes, Tanya Christiansen, Percy Bell, Tim Perez-Ross, Danny Terminello, Angel Luis, and Stacey Patino. “County Rescue,” returns to Great American Family, Sunday, February 23 (8 p.m. ET). The scripted series follows County Rescue EMT unit as they navigate life’s toughest challenges together, proving that hope, courage, and teamwork can overcome even the most difficult moments.

Following the run of “County Rescue,” comes the much-anticipated Season Two return of “When Hope Calls,” sequel to beloved series based on Janette Oke’s novel series, “When Calls the Heart.” #Hopefuls have waited for the triumphant return of “When Hope Calls,” which stars Cindy Busby, Christopher Russell, Sarah Fisher, Nick Bateman, Morgan Kohan, R.J. Hatanaka, and guest stars Trevor Donovan and Jesse Hutch. “When Hope Calls” returns to Great American Family, Sunday, April 6 (8 p.m. ET). Season Two expands on relationships in the frontier town of Brookfield, a loving, tight-knit community of people who look out for each other. With Mountie Gabriel (Hatanaka) still away on assignment, the town welcomes new Mountie Michael Fletcher (Russell). While Lillian (Kohan) prepares to leave for London to help her sister Grace through a difficult pregnancy, a lawyer (Busby) shows up at the orphanage with a surprising secret.

Eight new episodes of fan-favorite series, “Vindication,” will premiere exclusively on Great American Family, Sunday, May 18 (8 p.m. ET). #Vindies fans are ecstatic for the new season of “Vindication,” a faith-based episodic crime drama following the small-town investigative work of Detective Gary Travis, played by Todd Terry. Terry’s co-stars are Peggy Schott (Becky Travis), Venus Monique (Kris), Steve Mokate (Sgt. Tomlinson), T.C. Stallings (Det. Tre Millwood), and Emma Elle Roberts (Katie Travis). Guest stars include Brett Varvel (“County Rescue,” Disciples in the Moonlight). The series has found a faithful fandom for Detective Travis and his inspired pursuit of justice and redemption.

Will you be watching “Faith & Family Sundays” on Great American Family? If so, please share in comments below which show excites you the most?

I must say I'm most looking forward to "When Hope Calls," seeing how the show incorporates the beloved characters from the first season along with the new!

And I'm curious to see where season 2 of "County Rescue" will go... since Dani's ex-fiance just returned in the Season 1 cliffhanger and her paramedic job is a temporary position.

On a serious note, Great American Family also released an additional statement regarding the passing of Keller Fornes ("County Rescue"):
"Actor Keller Fornes will appear in all Season Two episodes of "County Rescue." Great American Family acknowledges the untimely passing of Keller. The network and all of Keller's many fans will be forever grateful for his talent and contributions to his art."

🎬 Streaming Movie Reviews at It's a Wonderful Movie - See Here:

Hello, Movie Friends!

Over the years as I've been blogging here at It's a Wonderful Movie, my main focus has always been on seeking the family-friendly movies airing on TV; however, the streaming world has definitely taken off through the years- full steam (or stream!) ahead.

I didn't think the streaming option would ever work for me since our internet speeds used to be somewhat slow, but as those have improved, so has my own interest in streaming movies.

One of the first streaming companies I purchased was PureFlix, which has now become Great American Pure Flix. I highly recommend this company as a streaming option because it offers faith-based, family-friendly movies and shows with trusted content.

I've also tried or currently own other subscriber-based streamers- Hallmark Movies Now, UP Faith & Family, Amazon Prime, etc... Plus, I'm definitely a fan of FrndlyTV, which lets viewers stream and record. It's actually the one I use the most often, and it's super user-friendly.

There are also many companies that offer FREE movies, which is great, even if we have to watch a few ads here and there.

Given the popularity of streaming, I thought I would give all of us a centralized location to share movie reviews with each other from these streaming services with others.

Share MOVIE REVIEWS from these Streaming Sources:

Great American Pure Flix

UP Faith & Family

The Cowboy Way Channel

Hallmark Movies Now

Roku

Xumo Play

Tubi

Netflix

Amazon Prime

Paramount+

and MORE!!!

(There are too many to mention!)

I have gone back through ALL of the comments submitted this year (so far) to collect all of the movie reviews from followers here - from these streaming sources. I am including these movie reviews below in order by date posted, and please feel free to share your streaming reviews in the comment section beneath this post. If you can give your streaming source, too, that would be great.

STREAMING MOVIE REVIEWS:

🎬 Xumo Loving Every Minute unfortunately is *NOT* family friendly. The main characters sister is marrying a woman. ~ Elizabeth Smith (January 8, 2024)

🎬 The Date Whisperer is not family friendly ~Anonymous (January 8, 2024)

🎬 The Date Whisperer - (watched on Dove Channel) In the first 10 minutes or so we learn the lead girl's father has left her mother after MANY years of marriage. The best man (the lead girl's love interest) gave the girl's father the advice to follow his heart - and he introduced him to his UNCLE Frankie. From watching the trailer, I learned the two men get married by the end of the movie. Thank goodness I only watched the first 10 minutes and the promo. ~Net (January 9, 2024)

🎬 Meet Me In New York - Starring Corey Savier & Brooke Nevin is certainly family friendly ~Anonymous (January 9, 2024)

🎬 We watched Love's Fast Lane on Xumo last night. I've no particular interest in cars but it was surprisingly good with a really sweet ending. ~Florence (January 10, 2024)

🎬 Far Haven - I happened upon this movie late last fall when it was on the Cowboy Channel, which we get as part of our paid-for Friendly TV app. I am not a western-type fan, but from the ads I’d seen for it, it looked like a truly wholesome movie and I knew some of the stars in it from other shows, so was really interested to see what it would be like. Well, I LOVED it. As a Christian myself, it had me sit up and take notice immediately when the main character is quoting some scriptures at the very start of the movie. Very cool!

I highly recommend your readers to watch this movie whenever they get a chance. It’s so worth it! And wonderful to fully support movies these days that not only truly wholesome, celebrating high morals and character, but are also well made like this one. ~Anonymous (February 1, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Love's Fast Lane is clean and quite delightful! It'd make a great fit for UP TV! –Maria (March 13, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's The Perfect Man(icure) is a clean, delightful gem, would make a great fit for GAF or UP TV! (streaming on Xumo Play) –Maria (March 13, 2024)

🎬 Nicely's Law of Attraction is clean, and totally hilarious!! Would be a good fit for UP TV. (streaming on Pluto TV). -Maria (March 13, 2024 )

🎬 Reel One's The Wedding in the Hamptons is clean, beautiful, and AWESOME!! (streaming on Roku). –Maria (March 14, 2024)

🎬 Falling in Love in Niagara (Hallmark Movies Now) yes it's clean. ~Anonymous (March 15, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Mr. Pawsitively Perfect is both clean and adorable! Would be a good fit for GAF or UP TV. -Maria (March 15, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Just for Showmance is clean and quite nice. :) (streaming on Roku). –Maria (March 16, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Steal your Heart is clean, hilarious and heartfelt. (streaming on Freevee). –Maria (March 16, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's The Beauty of Love is clean and delightful. (streaming on Fubo TV) –Maria (March 17, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Love Amongst the Stars is clean and FANTASTIC!! Would make a perfect fit for GAF, UP TV or even Hallmark! –Maria (March 18, 2024)

🎬 The Beauty Of Love definitely worth a watch - there was good chemistry between the leads and I am a fan of Jonathan Stoddard anyway. Entertaining story. Too long ago now to give it a fair score but around 6/7 – Florence (March 19, 2024)

🎬 Love Amongst the Stars - Wasn't one of my favourite ROE movies. I like Patch May but thought he had an arrogant and unlikeable side to him.

The subject matter of astrology was a bit dry for me. From what I remember about a 5 – Florence (March 19, 2024 )

🎬 Reel One's The Wedding Arrangement is a clean, and perfectly delightful flick! Would be a perfect fit for GAF or UP TV. :) -Maria (March 19, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Let Love Grow is clean, and so lovely! (yes, with today being the official start of spring, figured I'd watch some flowery themed movies.) (streaming on Roku). –Maria (March 19, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Love Hacks is clean (with 1 small exception of the female lead trying to move in with her current boyfriend), funny and heartfelt. (streaming on Xumo Play). –Maria (March 19, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's The Love Gala has a gay best friend. –Maria (March 20, 2024)

🎬 Let Love Grow (watched on Xumo Play) reminded me a lot of Learning to Love, except she was the Landscaper instead of the Nanny. I liked the guy and the girls were sweet. The woman was a little pushy for me, though, and I didn't like how they incorporated her meditation to the universe. I think she also mentioned something about crystals, too, but she was talking really fast, so I'm not 100% sure. It was an okay one-time watch for me and thankfully, wholesome. Wish we could've seen more of them enjoying the lovely new garden. ~Net (March 20, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's "Sparks Over Brooklyn" is clean, but I had a hard time getting into it, almost like I couldn't really buy into the two leads actually falling in love. ~Alicia (March 20, 2024)

🎬 Tried to watch Reel One's Love at first Like on the Pluto TV app on my computer, but it kept messing up, and when I tried to fast forward a bit, it just froze and when I had to reload it a few minutes later, it wouldn't start again from where I left off at.

As far as I know, it's a clean movie. –Maria (March 20, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's The Love Issue is clean and pretty. –Maria (March 22, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Signs of your Heart has a gay man. –Maria (March 24, 2024)

🎬 Scented with Love (2022) - (watched on Dove Channel) Super sweet and family-friendly. I enjoyed the chemistry between the leads (nice to see Marshall Williams from "When Hope Calls") and the delightful community and family in this film. ~Net (March 25, 2024)

🎬 Meet Me in New York (2022) - (watched on Dove Channel) First, this movie has excellent leads with Brooke Nevin and Corey Sevier. I really can't believe UPtv, Hallmark, or Great American Family hasn't snatched this one up! The chemistry is fantastic, it's funny, entertaining, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! There is one quick comment by Corey's character near the end about living with his previous girlfriend, but beyond that brief mention, the movie is completely G-rated and I loved the interaction between Corey and the young girl who portrayed his niece. This is one I'd love to have on DVD! ~Net (March 25, 2024)

🎬 From Italy with Amore (2022) - (watched on Roku Channel) Okay, I was enjoying this one at first with Rebecca Dalton and Marcus Rosner; it has great banter, love friction, and just really cute overall, but about 20 minutes in we learn that Marcus' brother in the movie is trying to adopt with his husband, Andrew. I quit watching from there. ~Net (March 25, 2024)

🎬 Hearts Under the Olive Tree (2023) - (watched on Xumo Play) I tried to watch this movie beyond 15 minutes, but the acting was rather bad, so I just had to give up. What I saw was family-friendly, but don't know beyond that. ~Net (March 25, 2024)

🎬 The Perfect Man(icure) (2023) - (watched on Plex) This movie is family-friendly and sweet. It's somewhat cheesy at times, but still cute enough for a one-time watch. ~Net (March 25, 2024)

🎬 Wedding in the Hamptons (2023) - (watched on Xumo Play) The lead girl in this is adorably clumsy, at times, which also makes her character likeable and charming. This movie is wholesome, except the lead girl, Jenna, pretends to be someone else (a popular social media influencer) to attend an extravagant wedding being held by a rich family. Overall, Wedding in the Hamptons is entertaining, but I'm not sure in this day and age with technology at everyone’s fingertips, that it's realistic that no one would recognize that Jenna is not who she says she is; however, the movie ended up being an enjoyable afternoon watch. ~Net (March 25, 2024)

🎬 A Royal Recipe for Love (2023) – (watched on Plex) Okay, yes this is a Royal movie and I know not everyone loves those, but in this case, it wasn’t that bad. Sure the king and queen were a bit stuffy and snobby, at first, but they softened up by the movie’s end. A baker in NYC, Emma, is invited by the Royal daughter to come bake for her family in Sanovia for her parent’s anniversary celebration. Once Emma arrives, she meets Oliver Batcher, the younger Royal son, who wants to be a chef – so Emma and Oliver have some tension working together in the kitchen. I truly enjoyed actor David Lafontaine as Oliver and his struggle to pursue a profession that he enjoyed, even if that job seemed beneath that of a royal. Initially, I always thought of actor David Lafontaine as the somewhat unlikeable, insensitive boyfriend in Christmas at the Plaza, but more and more, I have been enjoying seeing David and his caring/humorous side in various films as the lead. A Royal Recipe for Love is a delightful, family-friendly film. ~Net (March 25, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Heart of the Manor is clean. (streaming on Roku). –Maria (March 27, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Been there All Along is clean (if you ignore the office poster in the hallway with the small rainbow flag), goofy and charming. (streaming on Freevee). –Maria (March 28, 2024)

🎬 I got to watch Falling in Love With Niagara early, and I LOVED it!! –Maria (March 29, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Vote One for Love is an AMAZING movie!! (streaming on Freevee). –Maria (March 30, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Made for You with Love is a superb movie!! (streaming on Hoopla). –Maria (April 1, 2024)

🎬 Reel one's Love on the Reef (1 of Ansley's movies) is a cute, clean movie. (streaming on Freevee). –Maria (April 2, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's The PA and the Manhattan Prince is clean, and quite funny! (streaming on Tubi). –Maria (April 2, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's The Happiness Playbook is clean (just as long as you forget that the sister wants to move in with her unmarried boyfriend), and quite relaxing. –Maria (April 5, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's The Proposal Spot is hilarious, adorable, and clean (ish). (Very brief showing of rainbow hearts on the wall during a 'blink and you'll miss it' scene halfway through). (streaming on Roku). -Maria (April 5, 2024)

🎬 I watched the new film on Hallmark Movies Now titled "Legend of the Lost Locket" featuring some cast from WCTH and other familiar faces. It was such a nostalgic watch, very much reminded me of Hallmark the way it was many years ago. Family friendly and the best Hallmark film I have seen in a long time. ~Laura (April 5, 2024)

🎬 Reel One's Hearts Under the Olive Tree (not to be confused with the very similar sounding Hallmark movie from 2020!) is clean and charming. (streaming on Xumo Play). -Maria (April 10, 2024)

🎬 The Reel One Entertainment movie "Team Bride" appears to include 2 men in a relationship, who are in the supporting cast. ~Net (April 11, 2024)

🎬 "Team Bride" (in response to above comment) - Sadly this is so and they do have a fair amount of screen time. This is unfortunate because otherwise it's a decent little movie - Florence (April 12, 2024)

🎬 Net, I wanted to thank you also for a review. We saw Meet Me in New York was available to watch on Xumo Play, and I remembered your review, so we watched it and everyone loved it. Super cute family movie! Wonder why the networks haven’t picked this one up? ~Allie B (April 13, 2024)

A very special *Thank You* to those of you who shared a review above.

Jesse Metcalfe's New Faith-Based Family Drama Coming This Easter!

Recently, actor Jesse Metcalfe (Chesapeake Shores, Martha's Vineyard Mysteries, A Country Wedding, Harmony from the Heart, and numerous other TV movies) shared a first-look on a new movie project he has coming out this April.

This new movie won't be airing on TV, and typically my main focus is only there, but since Jesse is one of my personal favorite actors, and this movie is faith-based, I thought it was important to share.

Jesse's upcoming inspirational movie project is On a Wing and a Prayer; it was first announced back in October, 2021 via Variety, but now we have an official premiere date - April 7th on Amazon Prime Video, right before Easter! (Easter Sunday is April 9th, by the way!)

On a Wing and a Prayer storyline: "After their pilot dies unexpectedly mid-flight, Doug White's (Dennis Quaid) has to safely land a plane and save his entire family from insurmountable danger."

From the production company, MGM’s Lightworkers... Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel) is the producer, and besides Jesse Metcalfe, the film also stars Dennis Quaid (I Can Only Imagine, Yours, Mine & Ours, Soul Surfer), Heather Graham (Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer), Brandon Quinn (A Welcome Home Christmas, Cloudy With a Chance of Christmas), James Healy Jr. (Love at the Christmas Contest, A Thousand Tomorrows), Brett Rice (USS Christmas, The Case for Christ) and more.

Heather Graham, Roma Downey, and Jesse Metcalfe
at the screening of A Wing and a Prayer

According to EW, Dennis Quaid plays Doug White, a real-life man who took control of a twin-engine plane after the pilot died mid-flight. Heather Graham portrays Doug's wife and eventual co-pilot, Terri. Jesse Metcalfe portrays the pilot who connects with Doug from the ground to help him safely land the plane at a nearby airstrip."

Jesse Metcalfe is no stranger to religious, uplifting films; he also starred in the faith-based film God's Not Dead 2, and he has another new movie, titled Golden Influencer, that will be coming out on the faith and family streaming movie platform, Pureflix.

Do you have a favorite Jesse Metcalfe movie? For me, that is such a difficult question to answer since I love all of his movies so much, but if I absolutely had to say, my response would have to be Number 1: A Country Wedding, Number 2: Christmas Next Door, and Number 3: Harmony from the Heart tied with Christmas Under the Stars. Please share your favorites in comments below.

I hope many of you will be able to see Jesse this April in On a Wing and a Prayer.

Blessings,

Movie Reviews:

✈ I watched "On A Wing and A Prayer" yesterday, and I will say it was entertaining and kept me watching, but I had to fast forward a lot of scenes. Sadly, a lot of it disturbed me. There were multiple bar/alcohol drinking and bar singer scenes, the wife who was a believer dressed kinda sleazy. The daughters as well. -Concerning the revealing outfits.. I know we see this in our secular chic flicks, but I expected better for a Christian film. Also, the character that Jesse Metcalfe played, he and his girlfriend friend were living together, not married, even after the end, in the epilogue. This was a no for me. Hollywood's version of a Christian movie. Too immoral. I wouldn't feel comfortable showing this to my younger siblings or friends. Sad, I was hoping this would be a good one. ~Abigail

✈ On a Wing and a Prayer – I decided to try this movie, which is marketed as a faith-based film, since it was still available to watch free with my Amazon Prime. In my opinion, there are some intense scenes, some brief language, and casual drinking, which I feel is better suited for a mature audience. The one quick scene I must strongly caution is when Dan, a supporting cast member, drinks too much and meets a woman at a bar. They are very flirtatious with one another, and we are made aware that they leave together, but that’s it. The point of showing this is because this character is typically irresponsible, and the next day, he has one of the biggest missions of his life. I thought Dennis Quaid’s performance as the loving husband and father Doug White was excellent, especially when he had to take over flying the plane with his wife and two daughters on board when the pilot perished mid-flight. Due to other circumstances in his life, Doug was seriously questioning his faith in God. Jesse Metcalfe’s character, Kari Sorenson, is a real-life pilot and flight instructor who is coping with the grief of losing his family previously in a plane crash. Kari is suddenly tasked with trying to help Doug land the plane through a storm and what seems like insurmountable odds. This film has a powerful message about trusting and leaning on God through all situations in our lives and allowing God to use our weaknesses for His Glory. Overall, the meaning behind this film was very encouraging and inspirational. I also enjoyed the music that was chosen near the end, including the “Hallelujah” song and the beautiful old hymn “I’ll Fly Away,” which was sung by Dennis Quaid. I would recommend this film only for a mature audience who enjoys action-adventure. ~Net

It's Amazon's Prime Day + Walmart's Deals for Days - See Here: 👉👉

image: Amazon

When I was a little girl, I always loved when my Momma would take us to town - to the sidewalk sales in the summer. Sure it was hot, but I loved to see all the stores bring out their clothes and other items outside to sell. Nowadays, everyone seems to shop online - so these online savings are a sort of modern day version of the sidewalk sale.

Both Amazon and Walmart are offering great savings, so I wanted to be sure and share this info with all of you...

Please note: prices fluctuate throughout the day during Amazon's Prime Days - June 21 and June 22 - so you'll have to keep a check on the items you're looking at for the best deal.

If you're not a Prime member, click on this banner to start your free 30 day trial...

In addition to Amazon, you can also check out Walmart's Deals for Days - June 20 through June 23 - to see their Big Summer Savings!

Hope you find some great deals!

Note: At the beginning of this movie the former mayor, Ezra, is talking to Hannah and Elliot and says something about it not working out with Oliver, which implies a possible same sex relationship that didn't work out. It isn't said outright, so you can think business or whatever you like. It is a brief mention, however Ezra is also quickly seen walking with another man later in the movie. That is all. Because of this, I wanted to inform you all before purchasing the DVD, as I know many of you were wanting this movie to complete your Christmas in Evergreen collection.
