About the 'Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery' Series via Tonya Kappes website:

Welcome to Normal, Kentucky, where nothing is quite… normal. Meet Mae West, a former NYC socialite whose glamorous life comes to a screeching halt when her husband’s Ponzi scheme lands him in prison—and Mae without a dime to her name. Now, she’s inherited a campground in the middle of nowhere, complete with quirky campers, a rundown RV, and a town full of eccentric characters.

From scheming criminals to small-town secrets, Mae’s adventure in Normal is anything but a vacation. But with her new band of unlikely friends, including the no-nonsense property manager, Dottie, and a nosy (but lovable) group of locals known as the Laundry Club Ladies, Mae might just turn this little campground, and her life around. That is, if she can avoid the dead bodies that seem to be hidden in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series is full of laughter, lovable characters, and plenty of mystery that will keep you guessing, and coming back for more. Who knew life in Normal could be so delightfully strange?

My Quick Take:

This seems like such a unique story with lots of interesting characters. Has anyone here read this book series?

It also appears that this series will feature elements of mystery and comedy.

Any guesses who the female lead might be? A few names that keep coming to mind for me are Ashley Williams, Rhiannon Fish, or Kimberley Sustad.

Do you all have any thoughts? Guesses? If so, please share in comments below!

I haven't read this book series myself, but if you'd like to check out more details for the Camper & Criminals Mystery series, click here to read Amazon reviews.

Happy Sleuthing!

PLOT:

from DVD description:

With her magnifying glass and fingerprint powder in hand, Nancy Drew leaves River Heights for Hollywood... but not to meet that guy on Smallville, as her boyfriend Ned fears. No, she's out to solve one of the greatest mysteries ever: the death of movie star Dehlia Draycott. But the bigger mystery is how our perky, plaid-clad sleuth will fit in with the text-messaging teen queens of mean she meets at Hollywood High.

Join Emma Roberts as Nancy in this timeless girl detective mystery as she finds danger, adventure and romance. Because wherever Nancy goes, excitement follows.

Movie Review:

Nancy Drew is a strong and confident young woman. She believes in herself and justice… and isn’t afraid of seeking out the truth as clues to the Draycott Mystery unravel around her.

This movie is better suited for Preteen age and up. The Dehlia Draycott mystery involves an unwed murdered Hollywood actress of the golden era having given birth to a daughter. This issue may be too much for young viewers to comprehend as well as explain the reasoning of the child’s birth… since the actress was unmarried.

Also, Nancy thinks the Draycott Mansion is haunted but learns it was only a projection image. There are other close moments of intense with a bomb explosion, a van tries to run over Nancy and her friend, Corky, Nancy is kidnapped, etc…

In spite of these sticky situations… the movie is delightful and fun. I liked Nancy’s style and personality… she wasn’t ever afraid or and intimidated to be her true self. A great role model. I loved when she told the other girls in the lunch room that “She likes Old Fashioned Things” and the girl responds, “Oh, we noticed”.

There isn’t anything objectional as far as language or physical relations. There was a mild sweet kiss at the end but I’ll let you watch the movie to see if it was with her old reliable sleuthing friend, Ned… or with the new funny guy, Corky.

See or Skip:

See! Great for PreTeen Girl Sleepovers or for anyone who ever enjoyed a Nancy Drew Book.
