πŸ“· Can You PICTURE Watching These NEW MOVIES This Weekend?

Happy weekend, everyone! It's been a rainy week for us - with more rain on the way. I'm hearing a lot of places have been experiencing flooding across the U.S., so if that's you or near your area, please be safe. This just might be a good weekend to stay inside and watch a movie or two. I've been catching up with some of the UPtv rom-coms, and I finally watched/streamed the first episode of A Thousand Tomorrows, the new bull-riding series on Pureflix. You can read my review on it below, plus check out details on the new movies...

Happy *Mark the 25th* Day of the Month
as we Countdown to Christmas!

It's now 9 months 'til Christmas! Here at "It's a Wonderful Movie," we highlight EVERY 25th Day of the Month TOGETHER as we Countdown to CHRISTMAS DAY! You can join along simply by choosing something Christmassy to watch on this day.

Since Great American Family is currently doing their Jingle Bell Bracket and since we are getting closer to Easter, I decided my movie choice will be the faith-based Christmas movie A Christmas... Present, starring Candace Cameron Bure and Marc Blucas. The movie has a beautiful message of being present at Christmas, letting go of the stress, and being still in the midst of all the busyness while recognizing the true Gift of the season... Jesus!

If you'd like to Countdown to Christmas with us and join in the Christmas movie watch party, please share your Christmas movie pick to *Mark the 25th* in the comment section below!

My Thoughts on Ride and A Thousand Tomorrows:

For those of you who have been asking, the new Hallmark Channel television series Ride does premiere this Sunday night; however, I wanted you to be aware one of the characters, Tuff McMurray (portrayed by Jake Foy), is an openly gay cowboy. Tuff is the youngest son of Isabel (Nancy Travis), so it appears he will be one of the major characters throughout the series. Due to my own moral and religious beliefs, I will not be watching or promoting this series.

As I mentioned in my intro, I finally had the chance this week to stream A Thousand Tomorrows on Pureflix, the new streaming series based on Karen Kingsbury's book. Well, I was hoping this series might be the family-friendly alternative to Ride, since both are series about bull riding, country life, horses, romance, etc..., but for me, personally, it wasn't. I can understand needing to show character development and change from being a sinner to finding redemption, but 10-15 minutes into the first episode, we see the main lead male character, Cody Gunner, in a bar drinking with his friends after a rodeo competition. As Cody pays his bill for the drinks, a random woman is sitting next to him at the bar, and at first, Cody doesn't seem interested, but then she asks if he wants to "talk," and he finally gives in, and they leave together. None of the intimacy part is shown, but the next morning we can clearly see they've had a one-night stand. I was absolutely floored and shocked, as this was definitely not something I was expecting to see just minutes into a series on Pureflix that I was watching with my family. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. After seeing this content and the way the other bull riders constantly talked about women in a lustful sort of way, the rest of the series is a pass for me.

New Movies:

Hopefully, the new movies airing this weekend will be good, and you all will get a chance to check them out. I'm quite curious about The Confession Musical on UPtv. I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to see ALL 3 HOURS of it Sunday night, but I will watch a little and record the rest.

Please note: I haven't pre-screened the NEW movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

I hope you have a nice weekend!
Blessings to you all,
Net

"Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day He will be raised to life!”

UPtv's New MARCH 2023 TV Movie Premieres! *SEE HERE:

UPtv will be premiering a new romantic comedy and uplifting, inspirational movies coming UP in March!

See all the details below...

**********************

Something's Brewing

Original Air Date: March 5, 2023

Starring: Kristi Murdock and Jason Cook

Storyline: Jane Peterson, a marketing executive in the big city, loses her job and boyfriend both on the same day. Fed up, she vows to leave the city for good. Before she can though, she runs into a handsome and charming barista at a local coffee shop. As she rediscovers the city with him, it feels like something might be brewing!

Movie Review:

⛾ Something’s Brewing – Okay… something’s brewing, alright. In the first 5 minutes, Jane gets fired from her job, and she learns her live-in boyfriend, Aiden, is cheating on her. She arrives home early to their apartment, opens the bedroom door, and sees them together (if you know what I mean), but we see nothing, except for the two of them (the cheaters) walking out of the bedroom fully clothed. Not exactly the uplifting movie I was hoping to see. This movie is not family-friendly, based on those first few minutes. I watched the rest of the movie, which was fine, but it was rather slow and boring at times. Jane ends up meeting David, a single father, who works at a coffee shop. Overall, Something’s Brewing is not a keeper for me. ~Net

*NOTE: Instead of a new movie premiere on March 12th, it appears there will be a marathon of the sitcom, Last Man Standing, starring Tim Allen, for most of the day. Please stay tuned, in case there are any changes.

God Bless the Broken Road

Starring: Lindsay Pulsipher, Jordin Sparks, Kim Delaney, Patrika Darbo, Andrew Walker

*This movie first premiered in theaters in 2018. It has aired on Lifetime and other sources, but this will be the film's network premiere on UPtv.

Movie Review:

🏁 Finally watched God bless the Broken Road. It's very emotional and heavy, a lot. But it also has a spectacular ending. Highly recommend! –Maria

THE CONFESSION
UPlifting Musical

Original Air Date: March 26, 2023

Starring: Chondra Pierce and John Schneider

Storyline: In this musical adaptation of Beverly Lewis’ beloved novels, two worlds collide when a young Amish girl discovers she was adopted by a wealthy family. As she seeks her birth mother, she must overcome the obstacles of a lost fiance and a crafty gold-digger who seeks the fortune of her birth mother.

Movie Review:

🎡The Confession Musical – If you like musicals, then I suspect you will enjoy this one. I found it to be quite amusing and captivating, even though I already knew the story. In fact, I never thought it would be sooo funny, but it was, especially when the young woman pretended to be Amish. That was quite hilarious, and of course, comedienne Chondra Pierce brought a lot of humor and heart to her character. Well-known actor John Schneider played the bad guy in this, and while I’m used to him playing the nice guy, typically, he was fantastic in his role as the money-grubbing husband. Besides all the singing and dancing, The Confession Musical also had a heartwarming message about love, faith, and family. It is wholesome and family-friendly, if you don’t mind some of the Amish humor. ~Net

These are the movies confirmed for March, thus far. Please be sure to check back in case there are changes to the schedule.

I am personally looking forward to seeing this Amish musical version of The Confession. I've seen Chondra Pierce perform her comedy routine and share her testimony of faith in person; she is fantastic! And John Schneider is one of my all-time favorites. My big brother loved Dukes of Hazzard as we were growing up, so we'd often watch that General Lee in those memorable car chases. It has also been encouraging to see John Schneider in some inspirational films that have important meaning for this time, such as: Roe v. Wade and To Die For. I also think he's great in the Lifetime Christmas movies: Poinsettias for Christmas and Christmas in Tune. I was sad to learn of the recent passing of his wife, Alicia Allain, due to her fight with cancer. My heart and prayers go out to him and their family.

Please note: I haven't pre-screened the UPtv movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

Happy movie-watching, everyone! Net

via Hallmark:

Three-time Emmy® and two-time Golden Globe® nominee Sherry Stringfield (“ER”) and Katie Leclerc (“Switched at Birth”) star in the World Premiere of “Beverly Lewis’ The Confession,” a Hallmark Channel Original Movie on Saturday, May 11 (9p.m. ET/PT, 8C). The dramatic sequel to Hallmark Channel’s highly acclaimed original movie, “Beverly Lewis’ The Shunning,” which first premiered in 2011, is based on the second novel of The Heritage of Lancaster County Books from New York Times best-selling author Beverly Lewis. The series is based on some of the heartbreaking experiences of Lewis’ maternal grandmother, who was born into the Old Order Mennonite Church, which became the genesis of Lewis’ fascination with her Plain heritage. Katie Lapp (Leclerc) is an innocent young Amish woman who has ventured out of her small Lancaster community for the first time after a painful incident led to her “shunning” from the very township that raised her. As she takes on the unfamiliar outside world, she is desperate to track down her birth mother, a wealthy and generous woman named Laura Mayfield-Bennett (Stringfield) who is sadly dying of cancer. With only a few months to live, Laura and her husband Dylan (Adrian Paul, “Highlander”) prepare Laura’s estate and will. When Dylan, a greedy gambling addict, finds out he will inherit close to nothing from his wife, he hires an out-of-work actress, Alyson (Julia Whelan, “Once and Again”), to feign as Laura’s long-lost Amish daughter—hoping Laura will take the bait and leave her entire estate to her only child.
