Will Great American Family air Season 1 of "When Hope Calls" before airing Season 2?

* Unfortunately, Great American Family doesn't have the rights to the first season of "When Hope Calls" at this time. The show originally premiered on Hallmark's streaming platform before being broadcast on the Hallmark Channel. Currently, the only way to view the first season of "When Hope Calls" is through Hallmark+, unless, of course, an agreement is eventually reached between the networks.

* Great American Family does own the rights to their two Christmas episodes that start off season 2. This means there's a chance they might air those episodes before the April premiere, so let's be sure to keep an eye on the schedule!

“When Hope Calls” is a spinoff of Author Janette Oke’s legendary book series, When Calls the Heart. Initially, the series followed a pair of sisters, Lillian Walsh (Kohan) and Grace Bennett (Jocelyn Hudon) to the town of Brookfield, circa 1916. “When Hope Calls” is a family drama centered on the town’s orphanage and its residents who meet tremendous challenges while creating a hopeful, faith-filled community on the cusp of change in the frontier town while nurturing the children in their care.

Episode 3 - A New Beginning:

Storyline: When Nora, an out-of-town lawyer, arrives in Brookfield led by an unexpected family connection, the town welcomes her along with the new Mountie, Fearless Fletcher, who is filling in for Mountie Gabriel. Sam returns from prospecting for gold and meets Maggie’s (Hanneke Talbot) parents who have come to visit. Lillian has been looking after the orphanage since her sister, Grace, married and moved to London. When Lillian receives a letter from Mountie Gabriel who tells her how much he loves her, she is torn between her long-distance love and ongoing duty to the orphans in Brookfield. Great American Family Drops New Promo for "County Rescue," "When Hope Calls," and "Vindication"

Exciting news! A brand new promo (see below) from Great American Family states that beginning with "County Rescue," the channel will have a new episode from a TV series EVERY Sunday night until Christmas 2025 begins!

"County Rescue" is currently set to begin its second season on Great American Family on Sunday, February 23rd.

The series stars Julia Reilly, Riley Hough, Percy Bell, Kristin Wollett, Brett Varvel, Stacey Patino, Tim Perez-Ross, and Angel Luis.

"When Hope Calls" will start its season 2 on Great American Family on Sunday, April 6th, with returning cast members and an additional cast! (You can also look for the family drama even sooner on Great American Pure Flix - on April 3rd!)

The series stars Cindy Busby, Christopher Russell, Nick Bateman, Wendy Crewson, Hanneke Talbot, Morgan Kohan, Ryan-James (RJ) Hatanaka, Trevor Donovan, Jon McLaren, Sarah Fisher, and Jesse Hutch.

The premiere date for "Vindication" is currently unknown. The faith-based crime drama has three seasons presently airing on Great American Pure Flix.

Although it's not mentioned in the promo, Trevor Donovan and Jesse Hutch will also make an appearance in season two!

Two More Great American Family Stars Added To The Cast Of When Hope Calls Season 2

Is there a new sheriff in town? Or an outlaw?

As if the cast of When Hope Calls Season 2 wasn't impressive enough, with Cindy Busby, Christopher Russell, Nick Bateman, Trevor Donovan, Wendy Crewson, Hanneke Talbot, Morgan Kohan, and Ryan-James (RJ) Hatanaka, today we learned that two more Great American Family stars have joined the all-star cast!

Before I make the reveal, When Hope Calls is currently expected to premiere in January of 2025 on Great American Family. An actual premiere date has not been given.

So, who has joined the cast?

It's Jesse Hutch, star of Christmas Under the Northern Lights, A Little Women's Christmas, A Christmas Blessing, and more!

Jesse shared the image above on Instagram with the caption:

Another picture that Jesse shared (see above) revealed another Great American Family star... Sarah Fisher, of A Harvest Homecoming and Meet Me Under the Mistletoe.

It should be fun to learn who Jesse and Sarah's characters will be in the series. Are they, perhaps, a couple?

My Quick Take:

I am ecstatic that Great American Family is bringing "When Hope Calls" back! It's going to be a little different to see new characters in Brookfield, but I am ready to embrace new beginnings. It's just wonderful to see this network continue this beloved series.

Cindy Busby previously starred in three episodes of "When Calls the Heart" as Marlise Bennett; however, she will play a new character in season 2 of "When Hope Calls."

I have a feeling that Morgan Kohan's role may be limited since she is also currently filming a new season of "Sullivan’s Crossing" until November. "When Hope Calls" filming schedule is September 30th through November 30th.

Daniel Lissing of "When Calls the Heart" joins Lori Loughlin in "When Hope Calls!"

What a surprising, interesting cast choice! Daniel Lissing portrayed popular Mountie Jack Thornton on When Calls the Heart. His character sadly died in a tragic accident at the end of Season 5. Presumably, Daniel will take on a new role when he joins his WCTH alum, Lori Loughlin, in season 2 of When Hope Calls on GAC Family.

Deadline is reporting. "Lissing’s role is being kept under wraps for now."

Along with Lori Loughlin and Daniel Lissing, we will see the return of many familiar faces from the first season of When Hope Calls, including:

I am personally delighted to see this family friendly series return to GAC Family; I'm quite curious to see what Daniel Lissing's role will be. In season one, it was precious to see Lillian with the children at the orphanage, and I'm looking forward to more of these warm and fuzzy, heartfelt stories.

Episode 1 - New Hope:

Storyline: Reunited sisters Lillian and Grace encounter resistance against their just-opened New Hope Orphanage from the townspeople of Brookfield, including Tess Stewart, who has unresolved conflict with Lillian’s family. Storyline: Grace and Lillian welcome Rosemary and Lee Coulter from Hope Valley, who are in town to help rebuild Brookfield after the fire. Storyline: On a mission to locate one of the orphan’s family members, Lillian sets off with Gabriel to Mountie headquarters. While there, Gabriel meets face to face with the bank robber who tried to kill him and questions him about a discrepancy in the case. Grace and Chuck spend more time together but Tess orchestrates a scenario meant to drive them apart. Maggie tries to help Joe with an old shoulder injury and soon realizes that guilt about the accident that caused it may be preventing Joe from trying to heal.

Episode 5 - A House United:

Storyline: Lillian and Grace are put to the test when a government worker arrives to inspect the orphanage and question Grace’s past. When building damages coincide with the inspector’s visit, Lillian offers Sam, a struggling prospector, room and board in exchange for handyman services. Gabriel and Chuck lend a hand with the repairs. As they spend time at the orphanage, Gabriel sizes up Sam while Chuck receives a cold shoulder from Grace. Meanwhile, Tess pauses her endeavor to buy a truck when Ronnie needs her help.

Episode 6 - The Search:

Storyline: Lillian has doubts about Sam when he bears a striking resemblance to a train robber at large. Gabriel helps Constable Nathan Grant, who is in town from Hope Valley hunting down the fugitive. Chuck stays at the orphanage as a protective measure and to spend more time with Grace. Tess interviews candidates for a new foreman but holds out hope that Chuck will eventually decide to run the family ranch. Meanwhile, Maggie makes an interesting discovery at the infirmary.

Storyline: Lillian plans a surprise party for Grace’s birthday in hopes of replacing Grace’s painful birthday memories with happy new ones. Not one for birthday celebrations, Grace puts a wrench in the surprise plans by taking on more work at the restaurant. Chuck and Tess take one of the orphans under their wings at the ranch. Gabriel pursues a witness to the bank robbery who claims that powerful people used the robbery to cover up fraud. After Sam forgives Lillian for accusing him of a crime, the two spend time together preparing a special birthday gift for Lillian—arousing Gabriel’s jealousy.

Episode 8 - About a Girl:

Gabriel’s investigation into the suspected bank fraud raises questions about how Ronnie funded his hotel. Tess tries to protect Ronnie when a criminal debt catches up with him. Meanwhile, Maggie helps a visitor who has come to Brookfield in search of wellness.

Storyline: Lillian sets off on a mission to clear her father from blame over the town’s bridge collapse when a reporter comes to town to cover the 10th anniversary of Tess’s husband’s passing. Gabriel continues his investigation into the bank fraud and enlists the help of Hope Valley’s Constable Nathan Grant when Tess and Ronnie meet with corrupt business associates. Meanwhile, Eleanor and Joe try to make Maggie feel more at home in Brookfield.

You will feel most welcome in the western town of Brookfield, where two sisters, Lillian and Grace, have been reunited after years of separation and run an orphanage in a large, beautiful home.
