🎬☀️ New This Labor Day Weekend: "Crossroad Springs," 'The Wedding Arrangement,' & 'Catch of the Day' -- Which One Will You Catch First? 🐟

Happy Labor Day Weekend, Friends!

I hope you’re able to slow down a little on this extended weekend, soak up some rest, and enjoy a bit of well-deserved downtime.

I'm planning to do a little extra yard work while the weather is still nice and warm, and share some time with my family out in the sunshine, and later in the cool evenings we'll likely gather around the fire pit.

If your weekend’s looking busy, don’t forget to set your DVR for the brand-new series premiere on Great American Family, “Crossroad Springs”! The first episode airs Saturday night. (I streamed it early on PureFlix - see my review below!). This heartfelt show invites us right into the heart of ranch life... full of warmth, family drama, and all the ups and downs that come with it.

And if you’re in the mood for something romantic, Great American Family also premieres a lighthearted movie titled 'The Wedding Arrangement'! (See my review for this below, too!)

The Hallmark Channel wraps up their *Summer Nights* with 'Catch of the Day,' a seaside romance that may be the perfect last splash of the season!

I hope you’ll enjoy some of these heartwarming stories this weekend. If you do, I’d love to hear which ones you liked most, so please share your thoughts in the comments below!

Premieres Saturday, August 30, 2025

Episode 1 - Review:

“Crossroad Springs” is such a heartwarming look at life on a family ranch. You really feel the love, hard work, and sense of community. It was comforting to watch the characters face challenges and lean on each other. Episode one does a wonderful job of introducing us to the Hamilton family, those in their community, and their neighbor/rival, Daniel Newman. (By the way, Jesse Hutch plays the character very well!) I loved all of the little touches of faith, and I’m looking forward to the next episode! -Net

☀️ SHINING HIS LIGHT: ☀️

The premiere of “Crossroad Springs” brought these scriptures to my mind; they remind us that with family, friends, and God at the center, even the toughest days can feel lighter....

“Commit your work to the Lord,
and your plans will be established.”
Proverbs 16:3

“Two are better than one…
for if they fall, one will lift up his fellow.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

🐟 Hallmark Announces Summer Nights Movie "Catch of the Day" (Plus, an Extra Tasty Treat 🍨)

Wonderful news! Hallmark Channel is reeling in romance and flavor this summer with the movie, Catch of the Day, starring Emilie Ullerup (Chesapeake Shores) and Michael Rady (A Joyous Christmas).

This new film, revealed by TVInsider, is part of Hallmark’s Summer Nights lineup and is set to premiere Saturday, August 30th, at 8/7c.

Also, spicing things up is culinary expert and bestselling author Katie Lee Biegel, who not only co-wrote the movie but also appears on screen, bringing her passion for food to life in a story that blends heartfelt connection with coastal charm.

It's Not Complicated: Simple Recipes for Every Day
by Katie Lee Biegel

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Montauk, Catch of the Day is described as a feel-good celebration of seaside living, great food, and the ties that bring us home.

Storyline via Hallmark Media: Sophie (Ullerup) is a rising culinary star on the verge of becoming executive chef at a high-end Manhattan restaurant. But when her sister Abigail calls with news that their beloved family seafood spot in Montauk is floundering, Sophie returns home to help. What was meant to be a short visit turns into a journey of rediscovery, of her roots, her passion for cooking, and a surprising second chance at love with her teenage crush, Cam (Rady), a local fisherman whose quiet strength and charm leave Sophie rethinking everything she thought she wanted. Lee also appears in a cameo as a food blogger who plays a pivotal role in the plot.

Plus, I also wanted to mention, there's another Hallmark movie anticipated to premiere during Hallmark's Summer Nights in August, titled Double Scoop! And if you're guessing it has something to do with ice cream, you're right!

The movie stars Taylor Cole and Ryan McPartlin and there's a wonderful supporting cast that includes: Elisha Donovan, Patrick Muldoon, Chondra Pierce, Jacklyn Collier, and more!!!

Storyline via IMDB: Nora (Taylor Cole) and James (Ryan McPartlin) were once the dream team at a top New York ad agency, but now they're locked in a frosty competition for the sweetest client of all: a charming small-town dairy farm that churns out the most delectable artisan ice cream in the country.

I'm hoping this ice cream-themed movie will turn out to be a tasty treat!

Two side notes:

#1 - As I mentioned above, Christian Comedienne Chondra Pierce is among the Double Scoop supporting cast. I have seen her speak in person, and she was absolutely wonderful. I laughed so hard, and through her testimony, I cried. If you have the chance to see her speak, I encourage you to do so. You can see her tour date schedule - here.

#2 - If you haven’t checked out Chonda Pierce’s comedy Roll With It yet, it’s currently streaming on Roku (free with ads). It’s seriously funny and a great watch from start to finish! One small caution: Roll With It is generally family-friendly, though there is a brief conversation about online dating that may not be ideal for younger viewers. A woman also mentions she is a single mother of a young child. Overall, the heart and humor in this movie are such a joy to watch!

Happy Movie-Watching!

I hope you all will enjoy many of the Christmas movies airing on TV this weekend, old and new! I'm hoping to watch one or two of the new movies over the weekend, but I'm definitely going to record all of them! Sometimes, I get wrapped up in watching the older Christmas movies, though, it's harder to find time to watch the new ones. I'm sure many of you can relate.

Speaking of great Christmas movie classics, Hallmark Drama is airing two wonderful ones on Saturday, Signed, Sealed, Delivered for Christmas and Trading Christmas! Both films follow a Signed, Sealed, Delivered movie marathon that begins at 1pm/12c. on Hallmark Drama.

It's going to feel a little strange not to have a new episode of When Calls the Heart this weekend, but at least we have the new Christmas movie with Kevin McGarry, Checkin' it Twice. From the various promos I've seen, this movie looks like it's going to be super funny, and I'm so looking forward to it, even though I must admit, I know only the basiics about hockey.

I'm also looking forward to Great American Family's premiere of 'Twas the Text Before Christmas. First of all, that title is so creative; I just love it! It may be the best NEW Christmas title this year. Plus, I think it will be great to see Merritt Patterson and Trevor Donovan in another Christmas movie together, since many viewers loved Jingle Bell Princess.

Be sure to share which movies you are looking forward to seeing this weekend in the comments below!

Please note: I haven't pre-screened the new movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

Visit the *Christmas TV Schedule* for the dates and times of NEW Christmas movies airing in October, November, and December.

You can find the NEW 2023 Christmas Movie Review post- *here*.

Happy Christmas Movie-Watching!
God Bless Us, Everyone!

🎈 Love Soars on Hallmark This Weekend in Unexpected Grace...

Two new movie premieres are coming this weekend, one on the Hallmark Channel and the second on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is the emotional movie drama pictured above, Unexpected Grace. I have a feeling it might require a tissue or two.

See all the movie details below.

*********************

Saturday, March 11, 2023:

Storyline: Audrey (Sustad), a creative board game designer and Matthew (Darnell), a research-driven marketing consultant, are tasked with creating a new game to help players find romance. Given just weeks to deliver the project, the pair find that they have very different approaches. However, as they try to work together, they discover something they have in common: they each have a lot to learn about love.

Premieres Saturday, March 11, 2023
at 8pm/7c. on the Hallmark Channel

*********************

Sunday, March 12, 2023:

Storyline: Grace finds a note from a schoolgirl looking for a friend. Since Grace is still trying to find her place in her new hometown, she excitedly writes back and sets off a chain of events that ultimately changes the lives of three people.

Premieres Sunday, March 12, 2023
at 7pm/6c. on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

*********************

Thoughts on New Movies:

I'm looking forward to seeing the premiere of Unexpected Grace since it stars two actors I like very much, Erica Durance (North to Home, Wedding Planner Mystery) and Michael Rady (A Joyous Christmas, Two Turtle Doves). Also, the young girl playing Michael's daughter, Erica Tremblay, has been a joy to watch in a number of TV movies, including Hope at Christmas, Love at Sunset Terrace, and Always Amore!

Speaking of the film, Always Amore, it is one of the current nominees for Favorite TV Movies from 2022. Be sure to place your vote in the It's a Wonderful Movie Awards - HERE!

*********************

Great American Family:

Well, even though there isn't a new movie on Great American Family this weekend, you can still have some movie fun with their Jingle Bell Bracket! You must have your Christmas movie picks chosen by Sunday at noon. Fill out your bracket - here!

Two of the interesting choices in the bracket are Danica McKellar's and Candace Cameron Bure's upcoming 2023 Christmas movies! They are just 2 of the 21 Christmas movies Great American Family is planning for this upcoming Christmas movie season!

I had such fun filling out my bracket; I hope you do, too!

*********************

Also, don't forget, it's Daylight Saving Time this weekend! ⏰ Happy *Spring Ahead*! I'll be spending an hour or more just trying to fix all of my clocks! haha!

Please note: I haven't pre-screened the NEW movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,

(This is the first movie in a series of four films - based on 4 friends. It first premiered on Hallmark's streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now, on February 2nd.)

Starring: Brittany Bristow and Marcus Rosner

Premieres:Saturday, March 4

πŸ’• The Love Club movie has a husband & husband married couple introduced in the last few minutes of the movie. ~Anonymous

πŸ’• The Love Club: Nicole's Pen Pal- I was very disappointed about that trick they pulled. The movie was so good up to that point. When I realized that it was a gay couple, I took a breath so deep my living room became a vacuum - void of oxygen! ~Namegirl

Audrey (Sustad), a creative board game designer and Matthew (Darnell), a research-driven marketing consultant, are tasked with creating a new game to help players find romance. Given just weeks to deliver the project, the pair find that they have very different approaches. Movie Reviews:

🌼 Game of Love is family friendly about Audrey us a creative board game designer & Matthew is a research-driven marketing consultant are given just weeks to create a new game to help players to find romance that contain board games & game apps, they work at Play It Cool Game company ~Anonymous

🌼 Game of Love was so good. It's a keeper. ~Namegirl

🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼

A Winning Team

Starring: Nadia Hatta and Kristoffer Polaha

Premieres: Saturday, March 18

When pro soccer player Emily (Hatta) finds herself no longer in the game, she teams up with Ian (Polaha), a laid-back small-town coach, to lead her niece’s team to the playoffs.

Movie Review:

⚽ A Winning Team is family friendly. Acting was good but not much chemistry between the leads...of course that's just my opinion. ~ Joyce in Carolina

⚽ A Winning Team is family friendly about After getting fired for lack of sportsmanship, disgraced pro soccer player Emily Chen (Hatta) travels home at the behest of her widowed brother, Brandon (Yu) and niece, Ava (Garcia). (Review may contain SPOILERS) When she accidentally injures Ava’s coach, Ian Vermette (Kristoffer Polaha), she covers for him and leads Ava’s team into the playoffs. Ian takes a Ted Lasso approach to coaching where winning isn't everything while Emily's competitive nature wants to win-win-win. With a shot at the championship at stake, their differing coaching styles threaten their objective, but as they begin to warm up to each other on and off the field, they each make strides toward healing old wounds. But when Emily gets an offer from her old coach to return, their romantic relationship is threatened. Can these two get back on the same team before the big game? ~Anonymous

⚽ For those saying A Winning Team is clean, it's not. The movie very sneakily snuck in a gay man in that zip lining scene with the instructor saying that he wishes that his 'partner' (aka, now code for 'same sex romantic interest' in these movies, unfortunately) would be more adventerous to him. (and I know this because a reviewer that I enjoy who is also frustrated with Hallmark mentioned it in her review.). -Maria

⚽ A Winning Team – Oh my… this one was, well, difficult to watch. I totally agree with Joyce, there was little if no romantic chemistry between Emily (Nadia Hatta) and Coach Ian (Kristoffer Polaha). In the first hour or so Emily is pushy, arrogant, and basically pretty much unlikeable. Winning and being number one is all that matters to her. In the second hour she makes a complete turn-around; she’s more focused on family, the kids she’s coaching, and having fun. They attempt to make her character more warm and fuzzy. I don’t know, others may like it, but it just didn’t grab me. Some of the acting was stiff, at times, and the romance seemed forced. This is not a movie I would choose to watch again. I typically love Kristoffer Polaha’s movies, but this one missed the goal for me. (pun intended!) ~Net

A Picture of Her — "Spring Into Love" kicks off

Starring: Rhiannon Fish and Tyler Hynes

Premieres: Saturday, March 25

Beth (Fish) unwittingly becomes the subject of an award-winning magazine’s cover and goes on a quest to uncover the true identity of the mystery photographer who snapped her photo.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ“· A Picture of Her is family friendly about Beth goes on a search to find the identity of a photographer as shutterbot who took a shot of her that became part of an award-winning magazine cover: LA Culture. ~Anonymous

πŸ“· Didn't hear of anything naughty in A Picture of Her. Though, I did hear there is an awful lot of kissing (possibly more then in any other Hallmark movie), and 1 of them I heard was a French kiss -Maria

πŸ“· A Picture of Her was okay, not great but not bad. One plot problem I had though was that a crowd swarms around her - a regular person - in public after seeing her on the cover of a local L.A. magazine. Most wouldn't attract that attention if they tried! Anyway, it was well acted with good chemistry between the leads, although I think Tyler's true niche is in more comedic roles (An Unexpected Christmas, Three Wise Men and a Baby). And as Maria mentioned, there is a rather lengthy kissing scene (but unless I missed it, no French kiss). Good for a one-time only viewing for me. ~Mark 25

πŸ“· A Picture of Her is a good movie. It does have more kissing than usual in a Hallmark movie, but to me that makes the story more realistic. That kiss always interrupted in the middle of the movie is very unrealistic. ~Joyce in Carolina

πŸ“· A Picture of Her is family friendly about Beth goes on a search to find the identity of a photographer as shutterbot who took a shot of her that became part of an award-winning magazine cover: LA Culture. ~Anonymous

HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES

All premieres are at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

Unexpected Grace

Starring: Erica Durance, Michael Rady and Erica Tremblay

Premieres:Sunday, March 12

Grace (Tremblay) finds a note from a schoolgirl looking for a friend. Since Grace is still trying to find her place in her new hometown, she excitedly writes back and sets off a chain of events that ultimately changes the lives of three people.

Movie Reviews:

🎈 Whoa, Unexpected Grace is real keeper! Erica Tremblay has certainly grown up since 'Hope at Christmas', and is now playing a high schooler grappling with her mother's passing. This movie is definitely family friendly, and I'd be hard-pressed to categorize it; it's not a rom-com, not 'meet-cute', no 'royals'. I challenge everyone to watch, enjoy, and post YOUR take on it! ~Laura

🎈 Unexpected Grace is family friendly about trying to find her place in a new town, Grace discovers a note from a schoolgirl looking for a friend. She writes back & sets off chain of events that ultimately changes the lives of three people. Grace’s Mom passed away & Noelle’s Daughter named Antonia “Toni” Webb’s passed away ~Anonymous

🎈 Unexpected Grace - The movie is family friendly and a drama. I liked it. ~Namegirl

🎈 Loved Unexpected Grace. I really enjoyed this movie with "meat" in it. Rom-coms are good and I enjoy comedy but sometimes we just need something that touches our heart. This one reminded me of the old Hallmark Hall of Fame movies. The Gift of Peace was like that also. Hope Hallmark keeps up doing some of these types of movies. ~Clara

🎈 Unexpected Grace - My husband and I watched the movie, last night, and we liked it a lot. Yes, the storyline was sad initially but it turned into something meaningful, heartfelt and bittersweet. Also, the movie made both of us cry happy tears. The movie was truly was unexpected in many ways. It is refreshing to view a movie that is realistic and faith based and moving. All of the actors were good and the leads had nice chemistry. It was believable. I think Erica and Michael are under rated and the girl who played Michael's onscreen daughter was lovely. ~Joan

🎈 An Unexpected Grace was one of the best movies on HMM this year. This movie has substance with no hidden agendas. Beautiful message too! I will buy this DVD if ever available. ~kitkat

The Cases of Mystery Lane

Starring: Paul Campbell and Aimee Garcia

Premieres:Sunday, March 19

Birdie Case (Garcia) is a bright, successful attorney. Her husband, Alden (Campbell), is smart and charming, but his inability to settle on a career is causing strain in their marriage. When Alden goes behind his wife’s back to take classes in hopes of becoming a private investigator, a homework assignment entangles him in a murder investigation. Birdie just may hold the keys to solving the mystery, but Alden will have to come clean to find out. Only, Alden suspects that Birdie might be hiding secrets of her own.

Movie Reviews:

πŸ”Ž The Cases of Mystery Lane was not a winner for me. First, too many holes and coincidences in the storyline. (For example, how was the killer able to hang the first victim?) But most of all, Paul's character is pretty much a nerd (hence, the glasses), yet a nerd who has no problem in acting cocky or being humorous in times of danger. His character was not believable at all. The ending implies more of these mysteries are on the way, but I will be passing on them. ~Mark 25

πŸ”Ž The Case of Mystery Lane is family friendly about Alden and Birdie Case find a new way to keep the mystery in their marriage alive. Alden takes classes to become a private investigator, and Birdie may hold the key to solving one of his mysteries. ~Anonymous

πŸ”Ž I didn't watch it myself, but people were commenting on Facebook that "The Cases of Mystery Lane" has a gay couple in it. ~Anonymous

πŸ”Ž I started watching The Cases of Mystery Lane like 15 min late. It was ok...not much chemistry between the leads to me when a side character said he was in love with the character that died, then I knew that was when I decided to turn it off. Not missing much at all as I wasn't watching Hallmark for almost a year. ~Misty

πŸ”Ž The Cases of Mystery Lane is not family-friendly. The victim was gay. They made it seem so normal too, very disturbing. I was about to stop watching anyway, didn't like how the wife acted like she was "best friends" with the guy at work and never have time for her husband. And the characters were too cheesy anyway. ~Abigail

❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄

Also, two winter themed rom-coms...

❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄

Plus, this New Year's themed Hallmark movie is newly available...

I also want to mention there is also a three movie Christmas DVD collection with Christmas at Castle Hart / Open By Christmas / A Kiss Before Christmas. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this DVD due to a scene in Open by Christmas. See reviews here.

Is there a movie you are still hoping to see on DVD this Christmas season? I'm hoping to see more from GAC Family, including When Hope Calls Christmas, A Lot Like Christmas, Joy for Christmas and others!
