2 NEW Christmas Movies starring Dean Cain on DVD

The first new Dean Cain Christmas Movie on DVD is...

While I haven't seen this movie, from the title and description, and everything I've heard about it... it looks to be a sweet family friendly Christmas film starring not only Dean Cain ("The Three Gifts", "The Case for Christmas", etc...), but also Richarn Karn (Al, from "Home Improvement"), and the young girl, Sophie Bolen (from "The Christmas Bunny").

DVD plot description: "The entire family stays at Dave and Sandy's home for the holidays. Kassandra wants a puppy for Christmas, but Mom and Dad aren't ready for that. Will Santa grant Kassandra's only wish for Christmas?"

The second new Dean Cain Christmas movie on DVD is...

(PLEASE READ MY REVIEW BELOW!!!)

WARNING: This movie first aired last year (2014) on ION and I must warn that it is definitely NOT Family Friendly. I like both Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson as actors but this movie was awful. It was not only morally offensive, but an insult to our intelligence, as well.

First off, I hated the title. Removing the name of Christ and replacing it with EX was the first turn off for me. Secondary to that was the fact that this couple, Jessie Rogers and his wife Noelle, portrayed by Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson have decided to separate, due to the fact that the wife believes her husband is having an affair with another woman, who was constantly running around in the movie, very suggestively dressed.

In the meantime, Noelle has quickly moved on from leaving her husband, to seeing a rich man, who appears to be faking an Irish accent. No kidding. It's that crazy. Throw in a scene where everyone is suddenly being chased by bees at a gas station, and you have even more insanity. To be honest, I ended up fast-forwarding through much of the craziness, just to see how it would end. In spite of the Christmas theme and well known actors, trust me, there is no redeeming quality in this movie whatsoever.

I just had to share what I knew of this film and let you all know of it's content. Is there another Christmas movie you feel others should be warned about?

  1. I agree Merry Ex-Mas was terrible and tasteless. One of the worst made-for-TV Christmas movies I've ever seen. Turned it off after 20 minutes.

    1. Tasteless is a perfect word to describe it! Since I had recorded it during the busy Christmas season, I couldn't watch any more and, as I mentioned above, I fast-forwarded my way thru it. I know that is not the best way to give a review of a movie, but it simply wasn't worth any more of my valuable time. Glad to hear you agreed!

  2. Oh, Boy!! Glad I didn't watch it last year! I would have been so disappointed since I like Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson so much. Thanks for the "heads up", Net. I won't be buying this movie.

  3. I like Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson. It's sad to see them taking parts like this. I would think they would have enough pull to fix such a mess of a movie.

  4. I watched this last year and you are right it was awful. I couldn't believe they got these two stars to be in it. Are they desperate now for roles?

    1. Dean Cain actually produced that movie, I recall noting after seeing how awful it was, so he should take a good chunk of the blame for himself.

  5. It's sad to see how some actors will compromise.

I'm not sure which movies to warn others against. If the ratings are bad, then I don't watch.

  6. I thought Merry Ex-Mas was one of the better Christmas movies Dean and Kristy have made! I NEVER even look forward to watching movies either of them are in because they are always so disappointing. However, I watched Merry Ex-Mas, and while, yes, it had many crazy, zany and ridiculous parts (don't you have to suspend disbelief in LOTS of Hallmark, Lifetime, and ION Christmas movies?!), I still walked away from it not hating it and being surprised it was actually watchable all the way through. Did I love it? Far from it. Will I waste money purchasing the DVD? Absolutely not! LOL. But it's not because I took offense to any part of the movie.

I don't quite understand how it was offensive. As for the title of the movie....they were exes! Also, the woman who played Dean's new, younger girlfriend wasn't clothed from head to toe and skin showed...okay. I don't see the big deal. It's not like she had NO clothes on and sexual advances were being made.

I know we all have our rights to opinions, and that's great. However, I feel like sometimes people get TOO easily offended by these made-for-TV movies on various channels. It just should not be taken that seriously. Most of these movies are made to be taken lightly....not taken offense to.

    1. I wasn't offended by it. I just thought it was poorly written, poorly acted and absolutely boring and terrible. And this is coming from someone who has watched TWO different movies where Dean Cain is a lawyer that defends that Santa.

  7. I remember I watched some of this movie last year. It was soooooooooooooooo BAD I didn't want to finish but my friend wanted to know if they got back together so we kept watching. The one girls clothes were about to fall off of her the entire time. I cannot imagine anyone watching this with family. What were they thinking? Not good.

  8. The cover said it all for me. Look at Kristy Swanson face - not a very pleasant looking wife looking forward to the happiness and love Christmas should bring. Some actresses just don't get it. What a disappointment
