Get roped into the New Movies coming to UPtv on Sunday nights this October...
Movie: Adeline
Airing: October 1, 2023
Starring: David Chokachi, Erin Bethea, Jane Mowder, and John Schneider
Storyline: A small Midwestern community becomes the epicenter for miracles when a mysterious woman brings a healing horse to town.
Movie Review:
π Adeline – This movie is family-friendly for ages 12 and up – due to the story of a teenage girl, a pyromaniac who grew up in foster homes and likes to start fires randomly. There’s also a violent tornado that sweeps through a farm and may be scary for young viewers. As for the horse, I didn’t like the references that referred to him as a healing horse, but I do believe equine therapy can be beneficial to those who are afflicted with various diseases, as well as emotional and physical conditions. The storylines of the young foster girl and a young boy with autism were the most interesting parts of the movie for me. It was nice to see Erin Bethea (Fireproof, The Redemption of Henry Myers) and John Schneider (The Dukes of Hazzard, Christmas in Tune) in this movie. ~Net
Sweet as Maple Syrup
Airing: October 8, 2023
Note: This movie previously premiered on BYUtv on December 23, 2021. This will be it's first time airing on UPtv.
Starring: Brooke Nevin and Carlo Marks
Storyline: When Rachelle's family maple orchard starts to decline, she enlists the help of Derek, a professor of arboriculture, to heal the orchard in time for the annual maple syrup festival.
Movie Reviews:
π "Just watched it and I have to say it was a fun one. Family friendly and the chemistry was great. Hope this helps!" ~Heidi Joy
π "SWEET AS MAPLE SYRUP "Food" related themes seem to be very popular at the moment and there have even been a couple of other movies with Maple Syrup centre stage. This is another winning showcase from Incendo (it is, of course, family-friendly). A very large part if this is due to the lead actors Brooke Nevin (I wonder why Hallmark have never taken her up?) and Carlo Marks - Rachelle and Derek. Both were excellent in their parts and there was wonderful chemistry between them. Although Derek was a professor and bookish there was nothing boring about him. You had a good idea how the plot would work out but their on-screen presence kept things refreshingly interesting. It was nice to see how romance developed between them from the initial antagonism to the gradual warming and eventually deeper feelings. There was a nice comedy line as Rachelle tried to avoid the match-making tactics of a local doyenne. I also liked Rachelle's brother who was a partner in the business. Knowing how these Rom.Coms usually go I was actually surprised that they didn't introduce a love interest for him - I was actually fully expecting something to develop between him and Rachelle's best friend - although there was a little twist on this at the end. Overall this a delightful, heartwarming movie which I think would appeal to most members here." Forence's rating - 8.
π "Sweet as Maple S ok but very predictable." ~JoCo

Movie Reviews:
π I watched Country Hearts on Uptv and enjoyed it. The movie is about a family of musicians who also own a horse breeding farm. Pro wrestler Chris Jericho did a great job of playing the father of a sister duo that must decide to either pursue a music career in Nashville or stay and help with the horse farm. The movie has some good music and a nice Faith element as well. The sequel Country Hearts Christmas premieres next month but I recommend watching this movie first. ~Katie
π I was not familiar with the Country Hearts cast on UPTV when I watched this movie. I enjoyed it more than I thought. There was a lot of faith references which I found refreshing. I agree with Katie's recommendation to watch this movie before watching the Christmas movie in November. I could see this becoming a TV series. – Maire
π However, on a positive note: my feelings about the movie "Country Hearts" were different. The movie started off a bit slow for me and I thought they were a few too many storylines. But, after a little bit I decided the movie was worth my time and finished watching it. The songs were wonderful. Lanie has lovely voice. It brought me joy hearing all of the references to faith and God and believing in a higher power. The importance of family was great to witness. All in all, I loved this movie and I am looking forward to watching the Christmas movie in November. :-) ~Joan
π Country Hearts is fantastic!!! Can't wait for the sequel! -Maria
