Friday, May 12, 2023:

Start the weekend off on Friday night with some classic Christmas movies...

Storyline: In “A Lot Like Christmas,” Jessica Roberts (Maggie Lawson) owns the most popular Christmas Tree lot in the picturesque New England town of Hudson Springs. But when big-city marketing executive, Clay Moore (Christopher Russell) moves a “Big Box” store into the area and starts selling trees, Jasmine finds her business in jeopardy. As their professional competition escalates, Jasmine and Clay run into another complication – they start falling for each other.

I love the scene pictured above in A Lot Like Christmas when they give the mother in the movie a group hug. In spite of the possibility of losing their business, they look on the positive and feel so blessed to have each other and good friends!

Encores Friday night at 8pm/7c.
on Great American Family

Update/Correction: "Crown for Christmas" aired Friday night on the Hallmark Channel.

As Jane investigates a multi-level marketing company that took advantage of her client’s (Danielle Smith) fragile mom, she realizes that digging up the past can be dangerous...

Saturday, May 13, 2023:

Hallmark Channel's newest original movie honors mothers this weekend...

Storyline: Danielle (Tamera Mowry-Housley), a one-time off-Broadway performer and former backup singer, and Claire (Chelsea Hobbs), a once-aspiring dancer, both had dreams of making it to the Broadway stage. Many failed auditions and years later, Danielle is married Mark (Roger Cross), a successful lawyer, and has a ballerina daughter, who is positioned for NYC ballet, living in the Upper East Side. Claire is a single mother raising two sons and working as a bookkeeper in the Garment District. Now consumed with motherhood, they no longer have time for themselves and have deferred their own dreams. Danielle’s brother RJ (Andrew J. Hampton) introduces the two after Claire begins taking classes at his dance studio. He is impressed with Claire’s dance technique and wants to bring the women together to compete in a nationally televised talent contest. As they start practicing for the show, Danielle and Claire begin to regain their sense of self and passion they once had as performers. When competing priorities arise with their families and cause them to reconsider, the pair ultimately realize they need to show up for themselves and set an example to never give up your dreams. They compete in the talent contest and with the support of their families, Danielle and Claire learn it’s never too late to become what or who you want to be.

    2. In your defense, Hallmark changed the schedule late. I’d set up Cross Country Christmas to record and was surprised that it recorded the other one.

By the way I watched the Jane Mysteries and it was clean (unless I missed something). Unfortunately I thought it was pretty boring.

    3. Thank you, Anon. I wasn't anticipating that schedule change. Hallmark has been better about that lately. Guess I'll have to keep a closer check on that.

Also, thank you for the Jane Mysteries review. I appreciate you letting us know. By the way, did you catch the Friday night or Sunday night showing?

    4. I DVRed the Friday one and watched Saturday. Personally I’m glad they are doing this since I have more time on Saturday and don’t get around to watching Sunday premieres usually till the next weekend.

Someone brought up how crystals were discussed in the movie. They were part of a sham business so nothing positive about them was said (from what I remember) which is good.

  9. Net, I grew up with The Waltons and how I wish now I could go back to those years and appreciate it more. Watching that video with Mary Ellen was such a treat. Brought back many good memories for me.

It was nice that she acknowledged discrepancies from the tv show to the reunion movies.

  11. Dream Moms is family friendly about a former singer named Danielle & a once-aspiring dancer named Claire regain their passion to perform as they prepare to compete in a nationally televised talent contest called; “Take Two”. Danielle & Claire inspired their Broadway dreams got deferred when they enter a TV talent show competition together after their Broadway dreams end and discover that it's never too late to fulfill your destiny. They’d both trained at RJ’s Dance & Hip Hop Studio. RJ introduces Claire & Danielle to Bruce Tellin for Broadway show. Both Dani & Claire seem so exciting about it

  13. Jane Mysteries: Inheritance lost...

I enjoyed this film. It was kind of weak, but I enjoyed it. Jodie was cute with her different wigs with her disguises and Stephen wasn't uptight like he was in Ruby Herring. I did think her outfits were too revealing for my brother to watch and I didn't like the mention of crystals over and over again.

  14. Dear friends,

My dad had his second heart attack yesterday. It's hard and I am scared. This is his third (heart/hospital issue. Last was in February. Could you please pray for him and my family. His name is Wade. Please pray that he doesn't develop any blood clots after catheterization.

Thank you. I know God is in control and sovereign and that gives me comfort.

    2. Abigail, Oh, honey, you know we will, as fellow believers in Christ, lift your dad, Wade, up in prayer to the Almighty who is the Great Physician.

So sorry you and your family are going through this again. I know this has been such a heavy concern for you all for some time. I'm so glad you have your faith to lean on.

I know we aren't supposed to worry and we are to give our burdens to the Lord, but we often pick them back up again because we're human and we have such a deep love for our family.

Please know I will be keeping your daddy, you, and all of your family close in my prayers.

Sending you all much love. Hugs, Net

An update..The doctors still don't know the reason yet. Since his first attack two Octobers ago, he's been eating really healthy and exercising and drinking lots of water, but unfortunately his arteries were still blocked. He had surgery yesterday, and was going to come home today, but is still having pressure in his chest, so it might take a couple of days.

I am so thankful for our friendship, my love to you all! God bless!❤

    11. Abigail, Thank you for giving us this update, honey.

I'll be praying for the doctor's wisdom. Hopefully, they can discover a reason for the pressure. It sounds like your dad is doing his best to do everything just right, and I know you and your family are giving him such wonderful care.

I pray he can come home soon!

  15. Hi All,

I am not planning on watching Jodi's movie because she does not align with my core values. Sorry, she really did Candace wrong. Anyway, I did watch "Dream Moms". It was kind of cheesy, in some parts, but overall it was a cute movie. Family friendly, strong mom's, recapturing lost dreams, normal family relationships and good values. Plus, not your typical ending for a movie which was refreshing. All in all, worth watching.

  17. We enjoyed the MSB marathon on Saturday, but I can’t figure out why they didn’t play that on Mother’s Day instead. Normally, I like Martha’s Vineyard mystery, but if you ask me, it didn’t make sense on Sunday.

I can't watch anything with Jodie Sweetin after the way she verbally attacked Candace who is supposed to be one of her best friends. If Jodie doesn't agree with Candace's beliefs that's her right, but she had no right to publicly bash her! And it seems Hallmark rewarded with her by giving her a new mystery!! Jodie definitely needs our prayers!

  19. If Hallmark isn't worrying now they should be - Dream Moms on the main channel came in with a paltry 1.18m viewers overnight.

When are they going to realise what these should tell them?

But even worse The Jane Mysteries on HMM had disastrous 589k making it only the 101st most watched programme of the day. and the sma;;est HMM audience this year.

I wonder how much the switch to Friday nights was a factor in this? - Florence

  20. Dream Moms-I couldn't finish. I realize I'm in the minority even here, and I'm more conservative than most, but I honestly did not think the dancing was all that family friendly at times. It made me uncomfortable and I decided not to finish it. The story really didn't grab me anyway so I didn't go into it expecting to like it.
