I hope you all have a nice, peaceful first weekend of March. It truly feels like Spring is right around the corner now. Our temps throughout the week were in the 20's & 30's, but we are actually anticipating a high temp of 70 degrees this weekend! That is very unusual for us here in the Heartland during March. It's obviously going to go back down again, so we'll enjoy it while we can. Hope your weather is pleasant, too!

Are you watching anything special this weekend? I'm looking forward to watching both A Bridesmaid in Love and When Calls the Heart. As I've shared before, I love actress Tori Anderson in Hallmark's "Return to Christmas Creek" and her new movie, "A Bridesmaid in Love," is giving me a vibe of the Katherine Heigl movie, "27 Dresses," and I'm hoping this will be a fun, family-friendly version! Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Please note: I have not pre-screened the new movies, etc... listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments.

Blessings on your weekend! Net

  1. A Bridesmaid In Love sounds like a fun movie. This will be my choice.

Net, have you watched God's Not Dead---We The People? I purchased the DVD but have not had a chance to watch. Wondering how emotional this is in light of what is happening in the world at the moment.

I have a friend who came to America after the chernobyl event. She lost her little boy who was just a few months old from nuclear fall-out. She has family in Ukraine. Her heart is still broken over her loss. This Russia/Ukraine event touches me personally because I hear the pain in her voice. This is off topic but very much on my mind.

    1. kitkat, I think the horrible war in Ukraine is on many of our hearts - day and night... night and day. Seeing children and hospitals attacked is heartbreaking. I cannot imagine what that poor woman must be going through, worrying about her loved ones still there. I will be certain to pray for her and her family.

As for your question, I have seen the movie, "God's Not Dead: We The People." In fact, when I received your comment, I had been working on writing a review for the movie for a couple of days. What timing!

"God's Not Dead: We The People" has a powerful message about our freedoms, and I think every day we are seeing on the news how precious and vulnerable our freedoms are in today's world. You can see my full review here.

God bless you, honey. I'll be sure to pray for your dear friend.

  2. When calls the heart...YAY! We can't wait! We've watched All Creatures Great and Small and that's about all lately. We dig out our old movies and watch them over and over again! Happy weekend!

  3. I love that they have a Heartie Rom Com. I'm looking forward to the the Aloha one the most.

I'm also really glad WCTH starts tomorrow. I really need this to help keep my mind busy and off of grief. My Nana(almost 95) died yesterday. She didn't know Christ and wouldn't listen when I tried to witness to her so many times.

With all the troubles of Ukraine and now this. I want to be in my Word more and more. We are so blessed to have Him. And a promise of forever with Him. Love to you all❤

    1. Abigail, I am so very sorry for the incredible loss of your Nana. I pray her heart was listening to you and maybe her spirit reached out before she passed. I'm a little behind on responding to comments, so I am just now seeing this. My prayers go out to you and your precious family. I recently lost my grandmother, as well, so I know how hard that is. Staying close to Jesus is always the best answer in trying times like this.

God bless you and your family! Sending you much love and hugs! ❤

    2. Abigail, I am so sorry about your Nana. I would like to share this with you to give you hope.

I had a man who came into my office for many years, and I tried to witness to him all those years. He was a client who became a dear friend. The last 3 years, I talked to him about salvation more than ever. I was not sure I had reached him until he told me this. He said the first time he walked into my office and saw my bible on my desk, he felt something different. He said he placed some papers on top of my bible and I told him to remove them because my parents taught me to never place anything on the bible for it was the written word of God. He said he had never forgotten that moment. The last time I saw him, I told him I would be looking for him in heaven.

He passed away 2 years ago and his son called me to say he knew his dad was saved.

Abigail, trust the Lord that in your Nana's last hours, she made peace with the Father. God's word does not return to him void but accomplishes what He sent it to do. I pray you will take comfort in knowing this.

    3. kitkat, Thank you for sharing this story of hope with Abigail. How wonderful that man's son reached out to you to let you know he was saved before he passed. You certainly did your part by sharing God's love with him.

Also, we were always taught to never lay anything on our Bibles, too, out of respect for God's Holy Word. I love knowing you were taught the same.

  4. I have to skip whole WCTH Season 9: Episodes 1-12 but I’ll watch movies on UPTV because I’m not watching at all. I never watch WCTH: Season 1-5 but I watched Carson operated Cody & also, Jack & Elizabeth’s Wedding Day until I watched WCTH: Season 6 & 7. It’s always about about Teacher & Mountie is based on Jeanette Oke WCTH books.

  8. When Calls the Heart was okay. I feel like there were a bunch of random plot lines all scrunched into the episode. Some moments just seem so random, like when Henry came into town...I don't get what they were doing with that. Why did he rush in and break the door open? I feel like there were random scenes like that throughout the last season that left you wondering what it means and if it had any meaning, and then later you learned it didn't.
I skipped over all the Lucas and Elizabeth parts. Hallmark was at least smart to keep the episode focused on everyone else haha. I don't think their relationship will end up lasting though. That scene in the saloon when he was too busy to eat with her makes me wonder!

    1. Excellent take on When Calls the Heart! I totally agree on the way you summed it up.

Now, I didn't fast-forward through the Elizabeth and Lucas scenes, but I wish I had. I thought they laid it on a little thick, and I was surprised they started the new season off with them, especially knowing how hurt many viewers were over this decision. And why taunt us with Nathan and Elizabeth any longer? They almost made it seem like there was still interest there. And we know they aren't going in that direction, so why even go close to going down that road again?

Personally, I'm still not over the idea of the teacher being with the saloon owner, and I think I'll never get over the lack of authenticity to the era, with hair styles, kissing in the street in public, their manner of talking, etc...

I also agree on the random story lines, with so many characters rushing about; the episode didn't seem to really go anywhere. It didn't have a cohesive feel.

Anyway, maybe next week we'll get more answers. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your take! Thank you so much for sharing! :)

    2. You're absolutely right! I feel like the acting by Erin Krakow has gone downhill...she just seems fake or something now!

  9. The viewers can’t watch WCTH: Season 9 due Elizabeth’s choice at the end of WCTH: Season 8 because of the viewers can’t stand L/E.

It’s supposed to be about Teacher & Mountie always since Mountie Jack passed away - A family of 4 = Nathan, Elizabeth, Allie, Jack Jr.., that inspired Jeanette Oke’s WCTH books πŸ“– πŸ“• πŸ“š
