As Christians reflect this Easter, we acknowledge that God loved us so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to be crucified, buried, and raised on the third day - so that when we repent, we can receive God's forgiveness, be saved from the penalty of our sins and experience eternal life with Him!
I hope you enjoy a wonderful holiday weekend - and if you have the opportunity to π "hop" π over to the TV - perhaps you will see some of these Easter Movies and Specials listed below!

Saturday, April 20, 2019:
ABC will have their annual airing of the movie The Ten Commandments the Saturday evening before Easter, with Charlton Heston as Moses. I am in awe every time I watch it and see the water part as the children of Israel make their exodus from Egypt and cross the red sea. The movie begins at 7pm/6c. The Ten Commandments is available on DVD and Streaming.
The Hallmark Channel will have a special Spring Fever Movie Countdown - starting Friday night at 10pm/9c. with these movies - Royal Matchmaker, Love at First Bark, A Brush with Love, Moonlight in Vermont, The Sweetest Heart, Flip that Romance, Once Upon a Prince, True Love Blooms, Love by Chance, Hearts of Spring, Love to the Rescue, and Bottled with Love... all leading up to the premiere of Hallmark Channel's first Easter movie -

UP-TV will be celebrating Easter with religious films and more... including The Greatest Story Ever Told, from 1965, and The Passion of the Christ, which became an instant classic the moment it hit theaters in 2004. I remember watching the first showing at our local theater, in which every seat was filled. To this day, it is still one of the most powerful, impactful films I have ever seen of the life of Jesus! (Please note: due to violence, this movie is not suitable for children.) The Passion of the Christ is available on DVD and Streaming.
Sunday, April 21, 2019:
INSP will be showing the epic production, Jesus of Nazareth, from 1977, in 4 parts - on Easter Sunday, from 11am/10c. to 3pm/2c. As INSP shares, the film Jesus of Nazareth "is a sensitive, loving and reverent portrait of Jesus Christ." Jesus of Nazareth is available on DVD and Streaming.
On this Easter Sunday, TCM will also have Classic Religious Themed Easter Movies and pull out your Easter bonnet and tap shoes for the Easter Parade with Judy Garland and Fred Astaire at 8pm/7c. Easter Parade is available on DVD and Streaming.
There's also a new Morning Show Mystery premiering Sunday night on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries...

Unfortunately, ABC will once again, NOT be showing the Peanuts Gang in "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown". For those of us who love dear ole Charlie Brown, we'll have to pull out our DVDs again this year - or we can also watch via streaming - see here!
I pray we all take time this Easter - to enjoy family, Easter egg hunts, lovely spring colored dresses and suits (which I enjoy very much!), but much more importantly, in our hearts, may we fully realize and remember on Easter Sunday morning, when the stone that sealed the tomb was rolled away, Jesus was resurrected!
On that day, long ago, Jesus overcame death so that those of us who trust in Him could also overcome death and one day live with Him in Heaven for all eternity.
May the joy of that promise fill us up to overflowing and flow out of us this Easter!
have a Joyous, Blessed Easter! Net

So many great religious movies to watch this weekend! I'm with you Net - I love watching The Ten Commandments this time every year, especially the parting of the Red Sea scene. And the 1977 Jesus of Nazareth mini-series is my favorite movie about the life of Christ.
ReplyDeleteAnother favorite of mine - which doesn't get much attention - is the silent version of King of Kings from 1927. TCM is showing this version at (unfortunately) midnight Monday morning, but I highly recommend it as perhaps a way of closing your Easter celebration.
Blessings to you and your family, Net, during this most holy of times, as well as to everyone else! May the risen Lord be in your hearts always!

Huh! Thanks for the info, Jim - I had no idea about the blinking and completely missed it when I watched this! I'll keep an eye out next time!
DeleteMark 25
Same here. That is such a fascinating detail, Jim. I appreciate you sharing that. His eyes always look interesting and intriguing in all the movie pictures, as well. You just can't take your eyes off of them. They are, most definitely, unforgettable.
DeleteThanks for listing the movies in the Spring Fever countdown. I have seen them all except:
ReplyDelete• “True Love Blooms” — This had its premiere just recently and I’d already added its final showing in the current timeframe to my calendar (tomorrow, Saturday morning @ 10/9c).
• “Hearts of Spring,” which I’ve been holding on my DVR since it premiered 3 years ago because I’d recorded it in SD but prefer to watch it in HD. After fruitlessly searching ZAP2it, TitanTV, and IMDb to find out when it’s on, I finally discovered that Hallmark has scheduled it for Friday, May 10 @ 10:00 PM / 9:00c, a bit beyond those other sites’ 2-week outlook.
“Hearts of Spring” stars Lisa Whelchel and Michael Shanks. Michael is a favorite of mine from “Stargate SG-1” and “Saving Hope.” But speaking of Lisa Whelchel, 2016’s “Hearts of Spring” was the last (most recent) movie she made for TV. I also have her previous TV movie on my DVR, “For Better or for Worse” (again in SD) made way back 2014. Checking Hallmark first this time, I see that it’s scheduled for Saturday, May 11 @ 7:00 AM / 6:00c. This time, I’ll have to record it in HD, since I’ll still be asleep at that hour.
So, is Hallmark having a Lisa Whelchel renaissance? And why hasn’t she made anything recently?
I wonder Easter Bunny in Easter Under Wraps - taking picture with Easter Bunny?
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Net! It is fun that Hallmark did a Easter themed movie this year.
ReplyDeleteMisty
Happy Easter Net to you, your family and the IAWM family too!

I Pray Every Blessing this Easter to All My "It's a Wonderful Movie" Friends and Family!!! You are all so dear to me... each and every one!
ReplyDeleteEndless is the joy - for those of us who believe in eternal salvation, because of the sacrifice Jesus made on our behalf on the cross!
May you all enjoy the blessings from your faith in knowing Him this Easter and always!

ReplyDeleteDude Ranch (2019)
ReplyDeleteDude Ranch is a Hallmark Channel movie
Starring Erin Krakow & Ryan Peavey
Kevin McGarry is in good company. Erin Krakow has been showing lots of love to her younger co-stars, Ava Grace Cooper, and Gracyn Shinyei, over the last few days. She is spreading the news about her new Hallmark feature, “Dude Ranch,” alongside Ryan Paevey.
All the set pics of the cast of Dude Ranch (wt) - Erin, Ryan, and Ava - have been sooo cute on social media! They've definitely not kept it secret that they are filming a Hallmark Channel movie!!! And, I've seen many responses from Soap fans & Hearties, who are very excited!
DeleteI am, too! I've always enjoyed a good ranch movie!

When From Friend to Fiance will gonna air on Hallmark? Starring Jocelyn Hudon & Ryan Peavey
ReplyDeleteI wonder if it already filming somewhere else
Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on this. The previous premiere date has been removed from Hallmark's web-site.
DeleteI am suspecting that Hallmark may be moving it to June, since it has a wedding theme to it. Perhaps, they thought it would fit best there, instead of premiering it on Memorial Day, when people are busy enjoying the day off of work, and hopefully, honoring those we've lost, on this day.
By the way, they filmed "From Friend to FiancΓ©" (under the working title, "BFF Bride") in August, last year.
Chad Michael Murray and Torrey DeVitto are reuniting with Drew Seeley in the original film, titled Five Cards for Christmas for an upcoming Hallmark Channel Christmas movie to premiere during the holiday season. Production kicks off next week.
ReplyDeleteJessica (DeVitto), who sends Christmas cards to five people who have impacted her life: the aunt (Davidovich) who raised her, her younger brother in the military, a pop star Jax (Seeley) who provided the soundtrack to her life, the music teacher who inspired her and her best friend, Mimi, who always tells her the truth.
Murray will play Luke, the son of Jessica's music teacher, who is one of the recipients of her cards. With the teacher out of the country, Luke is the one who opens Jessica's card. They have a chance meeting when Luke goes to Jessica's apartment to let her know in person how much the card meant to his mother.
Seeley plays Jax, a former pop star who receives one of Jessica's cards. In the card, she reveals his music helped her through a difficult time in her life.
Yeeesss! Isn't it exciting??? Hallmark revealed news on this all new Christmas movie - which is another "One Tree Hill" cast reunion!
DeleteI have a new post with all the details- here!
Thanks so much for sharing!
