By now, I'm sure most of you have heard the heart-wrenching news regarding Lori Loughlin (Hallmark's "When Calls the Heart"). Unfortunately, she is one of many accused of being involved in a college admissions scam. Sadly, it has been difficult to watch as this news has developed throughout this week and the story repeats over and over on TV.
Since her indictment, Hallmark has parted ways with Lori, who we have watched in many of their films throughout the years, such as: "Meet My Mom," "Garage Sale Mysteries," "When Calls the Heart," "Northpole: Open for Christmas," "Homegrown Christmas," and more...
All current and future productions with Lori's involvement have been halted with Hallmark. Even "When Calls the Heart" has been pulled from airing Sunday night until they can figure out how to move forward with the show, without Lori.
This is truly a sad situation all around. For me, and for many of you, too, I'm sure Lori Loughlin will always be sweet Aunt Becky from "Full House." She's the one D.J. (Candace Cameron, at the time) and Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) could turn to whenever they were in any trouble, and I hope that family of friends and other cast members are there for Lori now, helping her and her family through this difficult time.
Lori has been one of my personal favorites to watch in all of her Hallmark movies, and although she has made this error in judgement, my heart goes out to her. It seems the media, celebrities, and pundits are so quick to condemn, and we have yet to even hear her side of the story. This is America where everyone is innocent, until proven guilty.
Hallmark's statement:
"We are saddened by the recent news surrounding the college admissions allegations. We are no longer working with Lori Loughlin and have stopped development of all productions that air on the Crown Media Family Network channels involving Lori Loughlin including "Garage Sale Mysteries," an independent third party production," Crown Media Family Networks said in a statement.
It's evident from their statement here and other responses, that this situation is breaking their heart, the same as it's breaking ours. Hallmark isn't only a network, it's a family.
Please know, I know Lori's actions (if all true) were wrong, but I'm reminded of the scripture, "For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
I hope, with time, we can all extend them forgiveness and grace. I pray we can all come together, and lift Lori, and her family up in much needed prayer at this time. She has given us much joy with "Full House" and all her wonderful Hallmark movies. She has also extended great kindness to her fans via social media. I know I personally appreciated her following me on Twitter and her kind responses.
I hope in the spirit of "When Calls the Heart" and Hope Valley, we can all give Lori now our love, hope and prayers.
-
This has been a very difficult week of news, for sure. If Lori were an unlikable person, or if she were someone who had been in trouble with the law or involved in scandals many times in the past, this might not all be such a hard pill to swallow, if that makes sense. But because she IS who she is, and has always maintained a good reputation and seemed like a decent, loving person with a wonderful family and network of friends, it is that much harder to accept that she not only allegedly committed crimes, but might go to prison -- a place filled with terrible, violent offenders. How will she survive that? She has to be terrified.
ReplyDeleteI know that what Lori allegedly did was very wrong and needs to be dealt with, but I don't wish physical harm on her. I see other people almost rejoicing in the fact that prison is a possibility, as though they want harm to come to her, and it's very disturbing.
I also feel very bad for all of the people she works with on Hallmark productions (did you see Sarah Strange's Instagram post about Garage Sale being cancelled? Very sad...). They love Lori -- because, again, for all intents and purposes, she is reportedly a great person to everyone she knows, and great to work with. They also now have to deal with either losing these jobs (as in the case of the "Garage Sale Mysteries" cast), or returning to their series without Lori and suddenly having to explain her absence or pretend that Abigail was never there (as is the case with the "When Calls the Heart" cast). New actors such as Kevin McGarry have had some of their thunder stolen from their debut on the show because of this whole ordeal. Even the actors who have nothing to do with Lori or WCTH have made movies that they need to promote and hope that people watch, even though attention has been taken from their projects this week as all news focused on Lori.
And then there are Lori's longtime friends (pre-Hallmark days), such as Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Holly Robinson Peete, etc. They all must be very concerned about her, but also very confused and upset about the allegations. They can't speak publicly about it because they are still members of the Hallmark family. So they can't even address anything that angry social media commenters are hurling at them.
The whole thing is just a sad situation, and a mess. I feel badly for everyone involved. I'm sure that the network did not want to cut ties with Lori unless it was the only option. They love her. If they hadn't done it, they would have been raked over the coals by those same angry social media commenters, and yet... they DID cut ties with Lori and they are still getting flooded with complaints about not staying loyal to Lori. Hallmark is in a no-win situation on this one. Whatever they do will make some section of viewers and social media angry.
Thank you so much for sharing your heart here. Lori has always been such a likable person, that is so true, and what makes this situation even sadder. I, too, feel badly for all involved. I'm sure Lori and her husband had no idea how terrible the ramifications could be for their alleged actions.
DeleteAnonymous, I could not agree with you more. I have watched and liked Lori for decades as have many other people who watch the Hallmark channels and her other projects. I am sad beyond belief and will miss her, but her actions were not accidental and I am very disappointed that she took herself and her family down this road. I also hope that she will be able to rehabilitate her career. She is a good actress and can seemingly effortlessly jump from character to character, time frame to time frame. I am still sad and angry, but time will heal this wound. The IAWM family has and shares lots of strength and we will get through this. Merry Christmas Friday to all, and to all a good night. Best wishes to all,
DeleteMark2
My prayers and wishes go out to lori, I still believe she is a good, decent person who tried too hard for her children. The real problem is the whole college system; something is very wrong when parents feel so desperate to get their children into good schools.
DeleteLet us hope that good will come out of all this dreadful situation.
Ken
God Bless you, Net, for putting out such a feeling note. People shouldn't be so fast to condemn; everyone has made mistakes. We should have compassion.
DeleteKen
Net, I appreciate so much your sharing your thoughts about Lori's situation. The news has been brutal and you are the first person I have heard to offer forgiveness. Thank you for the reminder that God offers all of us undeserved grace.
DeletePraying that she will bounce back from this in the strength of God's Spirit, stronger than before and with much new wisdom!
DeleteRuth once again you graciously the issue of Lori Loughlin. I want to salute Hallmark for the position they have taken on this. What a quality company with the kind of corporate values we need more of in our country. I agree it is now time to send our support to Lori and family to work through this difficult time.
DeleteHello Jan! Thank you so much for your kind words and compliment; however, I am not Ruth. My name is Net. If you are referring to Ruth Hill, I know her, too... she has been so encouraging regarding this current situation, and she is a wonderful promoter of all things Hallmark!
DeleteThank you, again, for your sweet comment. I appreciate you sharing your support.
Blessings! Net
Mark2, thank you for sharing your caring perspective on this situation. It is, indeed, a terribly sad situation for all involved. I, too, pray time can heal this wound for all of us, especially Lori's family, who surely had no idea the depth of consequences for what they were doing.
DeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts - as we all work through our feelings.
Bless you, Net
To the Unknown/Anonymous commenters above - thank you for sharing your hearts and prayers!
DeleteBless you all! Net
Ken, I appreciate you sharing your sympathetic, considerate comments regarding this sad situation. I'm sure the family is grateful for your kindness and prayers.
DeleteBlessings, Net
Net...
DeleteI was looking for some news and then I saw some IMdb franchise actors profiles with the first movie of this year. It was: 'Announced'; but without Lori. Do you know something?
I remember that the first one had already finished filming, but when the story broke, there was nothing in the profiles. Could that be a sign that they'll continue with the movies, even without Lori?
~Martinha~ That is rather interesting. I looked at the movie on IMDB - "Garage Sale Mysteries: Searched & Seized." I cannot imagine why Lori Loughlin's name wouldn't be in the cast list, as she was definitely in this movie. They had already finished "Garage Sale Mysteries: Search and Seized," and they were filming "Garage Sale Mysteries: Three Little Murders" when the news broke.
DeleteI did notice Lori Loughlin's name is under the Producer's list for "GSM: Search and Seized." From what was announced, production on "Garage Sale Mystery" was halted and there are no plans to air any further "Garage Sale Mysteries." That is still very interesting and odd that her name is not listed there in the cast list, regardless of everything that took place.
Exceptionally well written, Net. I too think the media is all fired up and ready to put her behind bars, even without a trial. They like a hot news story and wholesome Aunt Becky / Hallmark actress going bad is fresh meat. I, for one, will join you in praying for her and all involved.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining me in prayer - for Lori and her family.
DeleteI think the media, is often, too quick to judge. Certainly, the news stations and media elites look down on the Hallmark Channel, but they can't deny they are a huge ratings competitor.
Thank you for your comment! Keep praying!
The news stations and the media elites are filled with arrogant people who look down on anything that is not in vogue. Hallmark brings us positive and inspiring programmes which are a positive social influence. Thank God for Hallmark, and, thanks to you, Net, for keeping us posted.
DeleteKen
Ken, Thank YOU! I truly appreciate your powerful, passionate comment! I so agree with everything you said!
DeleteBless you! Net
Net, I agree with you. The following are two of my posts on social media earlier today. Some forget we are all only human.
ReplyDelete"Maybe it's just me....I don't understand the elation and giddiness I see in people who can't wait to see someone's life and career ruined! Lori's punishment will come, and her life will likely never be the same. Does her entire career need to be ruined, too? She didn't murder anyone. She made a terrible, horrible mistake that she will likely regret forever. It's like people take joy in the downfall of others. π©"
My response to someone saying they'd like to be her judge; "I don't think anyone here would say she shouldn't be punished. What I'm saying is I'm sick of the mob mentality whenever something like this happens. People can't wait to point their finger and bring someone else down, like all the finger pointer's have forgotten their own shortcomings! People are sad and cruel. You calling her daughter's "stupid" is exactly what I'm talking about.".
This world makes my heart sad sometimes.
I appreciate you sharing that, Lisa. I know just how you feel - social media can be a tough, harsh place, sometimes.
DeletePlease know, you are always welcome to share your heart here with us!
Bless you! Net
Lisa I agree with you about the world & the media. (It used to be a respected profession) My feelings are for the students who worked hard for their chance & earned it with their grades etc but may have been pushed aside because she bought her kid's way in. So sad
Deletewell, I think that as it is a Hallmark motto- she should be given a second chance. And she should receive support and love in this so needed time.
ReplyDeleteYes, everyone deserves a second chance for redemption and forgiveness.
DeleteThank you for sharing your love & support!
Bless you! Net
Like most of you, I too am sorry to hear about the allegations against Lori Loughlin. I do not wish her or her family any harm, but mercy. We are all subject to making mistakes. I hope that no one has found her guilty before all the facts are in. How do we know if she was aware of this false contribution scam. Maybe a show of remorse would put her back in good graces with most people. How many of us have needed and still need forgiveness for the mistakes we make whether against mankind or God. Before jumping to judgment how about we all pray for her and her family. I am sure they would appreciate it. RG
ReplyDeleteRG, what a beautiful comment about God's amazing grace and forgiveness - for all of us. I am truly grateful for your thoughtful, kind words here. Thank you so much for sharing His love!
DeleteBless you! Net
I am not one who generally thinks the media is bused or whatever but in this case I think the coverage has been over the top. Let’s remember that there are worse crimes out there than trying to get your kid into a good school. Being dropped so fast seems a bit harsh and certainly unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteAnyways I hope it works out for all involved.
Love your site and all the work you do for Christmas.
Chris
Thank you so much, Chris, for your comment here. It means a great deal to me - as I know we are all, individually, coming to terms with our thoughts on this situation. When I first heard about it, I thought it was rather bad, but the media has certainly erupted these circumstances - to a whole new level.
DeleteI appreciate you sharing, and I'm glad you enjoy visiting here for movie news!
Blessings to you! Net
I totally agree with you. This is a sad situation all around.I hope that with the passage of time things for this family will turn into something inspirational for everyone involved.
ReplyDeleteThere by the grace of God go I.
That is a beautiful thought... thank you for sharing that paraphrase from scripture.
DeleteI, too, pray there will be beauty from ashes.
Bless you, Net
So sad... It's really heartbreaking. That poor family thrown under the bus like this. I did not see that coming, but these politics enterprises are always sticky. But who knows... when she put her side in perspective, maybe something good could come. It's wait and see. I only know that I'm going to follow her and hope for the best.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is, indeed, a heartbreaking situation all around. Thank you for wishing the best for Lori and her family. I, too, pray something good and positive will come from this.
DeleteBless you! Net
Thank you for this sympathetic viewpoint. It follows my maxim to "do all things with kindness."
ReplyDeleteMy reaction earlier in the week when news of this affair first broke was that this would be a classic case of the sins of the many parents involved being visited upon their children. (I saw a headline today that Lori's daughters have now withdrawn from USC.) I never expressed the thought (until now) because in looking up the verse(s) to quote, I ran across this article.
https://www.desiringgod.org/articles/does-god-visit-the-sins-of-the-fathers-on-the-children
That is a beautiful point of view, TVsenior... to "do all things with kindness." If more people chose to live that way - this world would be a much better place!
DeleteWe love because HE first loved us!
God bless you - for spreading joy & kindness! Net
Well said Net! We should be in prayer for all involved. This has such a domino effect...so many other jobs to be affected. Everyone makes mistakes, no one is above that! It's that most of us don't have our mistakes go public for all to see. The same God that forgives us is Lori's hope now. My prayer is she will seek Him and His guidance! Prayers for all and blessings to everyone here at IAWM. Thanks Net!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, thank you so much for sharing your tender, sweet, giving heart with this situation. I know it has been difficult for us all. We wish so much we could help or change these circumstances for all involved. You are so right - it has been a domino effect - affecting so many people... Lori's family, Hallmark, writers, producers, actors, crew members, viewers... and on and on...
DeleteBless you for sharing your prayers for everyone, Net
TV shows & movies weren’t same without Lori
ReplyDeleteLori was part of Hallmark Family but she’s no longer part of it.
This transition will most certainly be difficult for everyone involved.
DeleteBless you! Net
If someone can replace Lori as Jennifer Shannon on Garage Sale Mysteries
ReplyDeleteThere’s different actors & actresses replace as Jennifer’s husband; Steve, & their children: Logan & Hannah
Unfortunately, "Garage Sale Mysteries" is completely finished, now that Lori is gone from Hallmark; however, there may be plans to replace her on WCTH. It certainly would be difficult shoes to fill, and I don't know if any actress would be willing to do it.
DeleteI hear what everyone is saying about the issue and yes, I'm sorry this happened but she is a n adult and obviously knows right from wrong. I read a transcript of the phone call where she was talking about the cost involved in bribing school officials. This makes me angry. She has been blessed to have the career and the success she's had and she has to know there are consequences for her actions. She should also realize that because of her public persona, more is expected of her, be it right or wrong. I pray she has learned her lesson but don't ask me to feel sorry for her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with a lot said here, and agree she and her family deserve our prayers. I think many are viewing her thru her many characters not as a real person who has made a terrible mistake but that does not change what occurred. They are an extremely blessed family with means that none of us would ever come close to if the reports are true that their net worth is nearly one hundred million dollars. It’s pretty clear with all the YouTube videos that have been shown that are all out there of one of the daughters that she has the public persona of a spoiled rich child of a set of very wealthy parents. I feel bad for the actors and crew of these productions that all could or will loose their jobs ....... money certainly does not buy happiness and this whole thing is extremely sad.
DeleteWell said, Tim. None of us will ever be close to their net worth. What she did was wrong and she knows it. As much as I like her on Hallmark movies, I pray for her family but I don't feel sorry for what's coming to her. Most parents of other kids work so hard, two or three jobs, in order to send their kids to good college. Lori did not help her kids but rather disservice them for doing this.
DeleteThank you, Tim and Anonymous, for sharing your thoughts. It is hard to comprehend - why? They have certainly been blessed, which makes it even hard to understand. I'm assuming they had no idea what was at stake or how deeply wrong their actions were. Money, indeed, does not buy happiness.
DeleteI pray Lori's family can come together and lean on one another during this difficult time.
Blessings, Net
Well said Net!!! I couldn’t agree with you more. It seems so many are always so eager to verbally attack someone when someone has done something wrong. I don’t agree with what Lori has allegedly done but it not our place to judge. This is between her and God. Like you quoted from Romans 3:23 “All have sinned”. That means every last one of us. Romans 3:10 says “There is no one righteous, not even one.” I truly enjoyed all of Lori’s work on Hallmark. I truly will miss her on When Calls The Heart and will miss Garage Sale Mysteries. Don’t know if it will be possible but I hope they will be able to continue the G.S.M. movies with a recast or a new character. I too will be praying for Lori and her family during this difficult time. We need to also be praying for the Hallmark executives that they will continue to produce wholesome family films and not be impacted by the liberal media and social media.
ReplyDeleteChuck
Chuck, thank you for this incredible, beautiful message... and for sharing those powerful words from scripture. Each of us needs God's grace and it's also important to extend that same grace to others!
DeleteI will also miss Lori's movies.... and "When Calls the Heart" truly won't ever be the same without her. I know this is a difficult time for everyone at Hallmark, as well. I, too, hope and pray they will continue to create wholesome programming. Thank you for sharing your heart!
Blessings to you! Net
I too was saddened by this news. My mind has been reeling all week. I’ve been praying for all involved. I think we all wish life had a rewind button at one time or another, but while there isn’t a rewind button, there is forgiveness and mercy. Unfortunately, not everyone believes that. I am just sad for her and all she must be feeling right now. My heart goes out to all of her co-workers who are probably more stunned than we are. Thank you Net for opening a channel for us to share our feelings without being bombarded by what society thinks should be done.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Kellie... I am most grateful for your kind words. I am glad to have you share your heart hear with all of us and your sadness over what has taken place.
DeleteI think all of our reaction to this - shows how deeply we all care about Hallmark and the actors and actresses - who portray the characters we love.
Thank you, again, for sharing!
Blessings to you, Net
Forgiveness can be given but that doesn’t mean there aren’t consequences for your decisions. She knew what she was doing. I love the show and I support Hallmark’s decision in this matter. That said if the episodes that are already filmed for Season 6 are aired, I can live with that.
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary, I absolutely agree with you. I, as everyone, was shocked, and I just could not understand how someone who has literally everything--money, fame, beauty, happy family--could have done something like this. But I think sometimes all this can very easily go to one's head with the idea that they can get away with anything, and I guess she almost did. Although LL did commit a crime, I cannot help but put myself in her shoes and think about all she has lost and for what? I'm sure she is beyond sorry for her actions, but as you said, she knew what she was doing, and I stand by Hallmark's decision as well. It's very sad, but also a reality in life, especially with a family-friendly company as Hallmark, I don't think they really had any other choice.
DeleteThank you, Mary and Barbara, for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you both- whatever we do - good or bad - we must endure the consequences of our decisions. It is very sad to think of what they have lost, financially and work wise, but thankfully, they have one another.
DeleteIt is a very tough situation for everyone, including Hallmark.
Blessings, Net
Net, I too am heartbroken that such a wonderful person that I love to watch on T.V. has put herself in such a place. My prayers go out to Lori and her family and the Hallmark family as I am sure they are having a hard time with this. If this is true, time will tell. I love her.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet, Sandy... I know just how you feel. I, too, have been heartbroken and in disbelief over all of this.
DeleteBless you for saying a prayer for everyone involved! This is truly so hard for all of us who love the Hallmark family as we do!
Thank you for sharing! Again, bless you! Net
Have you seen this?: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/pt-br/487/121/394/bring-lori-loughlin-back-to-hallmark/
ReplyDeleteA lot of people are not happy about this! I feel so sorry for her.
Thank you for posting this.
DeleteI certainly hope Hallmark doesn't bring her back, I am sorry but if Hallmark made this decision then they stick with it and I agree. What I don't like is it seems many people out there think if they stop watching Hallmark or write enough to them that they wont watch unless they bring lori back, that hallmark will cave. To me that is bullying and also trying to hold them hostage to do what people want. I for one hope they hold strong on this. I know you can't please everyone, but there is no way they keep someone on who broke the law and did a very immoral thing on purpose and not on accident.
DeleteI don't want Lori harm, but I cannot feel sorry for her, who I feel sorry for is the kids who got told they were not accepted to these schools and cried in their living rooms with their parents wondering why they weren't good enough. I can only hope they got accepted to another school of their choice.
Thank you, Martinha, for sharing that news with us. As I've shared before, I truly wish there could be a Hallmark happy ending to this story. Unfortunately, I don't think this is going to be resolved right away, but maybe, possibly, someday... I pray... there can be redemption here.
DeleteBless you, Net
Sabrina, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I know this has been a most difficult time for everyone, including Hallmark. I'm sure letting Lori Loughlin go has been one of the hardest things they ever had to do.
DeleteBlessings, Net
Matthew 11:28-30 speaks to God's love and mercy. "Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me...For I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest in your souls. For my yoke is easy my burden is light." This is my prayer for Lori and all of the Hallmark community. We have felt devastation but Satan cannot win when we put our trust in God. This us the only way I know how to Express my feelings of love to everyone who has been touched by this heartbreaking event. Thank you Net for your faith always.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you so much, Ann, for sharing here all of these moving scriptures. Seeking God is always the best way to turn when we go through uncertain times. These scriptures you shared here from God's word touched my soul deeply.
DeleteI am so grateful for you! Thank you praying along with me and the IAWM family!
Bless you! Net
I am sad for the students who's dreams were shattered when they worked so hard only to find out they did not get into the school or schools they applied to due to the dishonest horrible actions of adults who knew better. These kids were cheated out of an education and college experience that they rightly deserved.
ReplyDeleteYes, this was sad and difficult for everyone involved... directly and indirectly.
DeleteI think as much as Lori is family to Hallmark, what she did goes against the very core of what Hallmark is so in the end they decided to part ways with her. Yes, I will miss her and Garage Sale Mysteries but what's more disappointing to this fan is that Lori knew what she was doing. She did it voluntarily. She had to have known there will be consequences in case they get caught. I've read the affidavit. They were making plans in the event the deal was made public so she definitely knew what she was getting into. I believe in forgiveness but I also believe that she has to face the consequences of her actions.
ReplyDeleteYes, in the end, we all will face judgement for our decisions. It is a sad situation, but yes, we all have to face the consequences for the choices we make.
DeleteBlessings, Net
If Hallmark will bring Lori for 2nd chance to come back because of the viewers upset with her from being failed from themπ€
ReplyDeleteIf only it were that easy. Thank you for sharing.
DeleteBless you, Net
In the scheme of life events, the fact that Hallmark has made this decision pales in comparison to the choices that Lori and her husband made with regard to college admission for their daughter. I am especially saddened for all of the other students who in good faith attempted to gain entrance and ended up on a waiting list and/or were denied. Also, I am saddened for the Hallmark actors and workers on various related projects that have lost their job or projects as a result of the choices made by others.
ReplyDeleteIn terms of life events and forgiveness, I trust and hope that all should learn from their chosen paths and demonstrate some penance for their actions. The issue is especially troubling for this was a conscious decision that included deception. It is very sad, for everyone affected and while I hope and trust that their true friends and family offer them support, the lesson is to be learned and remorse shown. Perhaps, with time, this may occur and she will return but while sad, resolving the issue and taking responsibility for one's actions should be the true focus.
Yes, this is truly a difficult time for everyone involved.
DeleteTaking responsibility for our wrong doings is always important, and the moral thing to do. I hope there will be a time of healing and restoration for Lori and her family in the future.
Blessings, Net
I was so glad to read your post, Net!
ReplyDeleteWe all fall and do wrong things. All of us. But when we turn in repentance to our Heavenly Father, He forgives us. As @FranSpeck1 wrote on Twitter: “We have become a society that is long on blame and short on forgiveness.”
The relevant legal steps are being taken for Lori’s actions and if she publicly apologises, she should be forgiven and allowed to move on.
Concerning her role on When Calls the Heart. Lori is an actress. Therefore, Abigail is not Lori and Lori is not Abigail. We have all loved her portrayal of Abigail since season 1, she has done a fantastic job at it, this cannot be denied. I think Abigail could not be recast. I think that she should be allowed in the spirit of all this to continue her role on When Calls the Heart. Just think of Henry Gowen’s storyline of redemption on the show.
Sarah... how sweet! Thank you so much for your thoughtful, considerate comment. Everyone deserves forgiveness and understanding. It is so easy for the world to kick people when they are down. I think that's the time, more than ever, to lift someone up.
DeleteBless you for sharing your forgiving heart! Net
My thoughts have been everywhere with this situation. I was hoping Net, that you would share your view. I felt your heart. As always you handle this news with gracd and it gave me such peace! Thank you Net!
ReplyDeleteI read this comment from someone today...
Abigail was my favorite character in WCTH. Unfortunately Lori made a bad choice and there are always consequences for bad choices made, but.... before this happened we were singing her praises...now a week or so later, many of us have written her off. I'm so glad God doesn't treat us the same way. We are all guilty of making bad choices.. ..yes some worse than others, and the consequences will show that. Guilty the least, guilty the whole. But God is merciful and gracious toward us...Could we not show that to Lori. Her consequences will be dire and she will have to suffer for them, whatever they may be, but let's continue to love her through this. As someone said she is no better than any of us...I agree.... But then she is no worse either. Just very foolish.
So many of us are so sadden and are a lost for words. God, prayer, and time will heal all wounds. I hope Lori will see and lean on God, but most of all ask his forgiveness, like we should all do each day. None of us are perfect but by his saving grace his can wash us white as snow. God a is so a Good!
Thank you, Anne, for sharing with us your thoughts and reflections on all of this. I know it is still raw and heart-wrenching for many of us.
DeleteI am so glad we have a Savior who is always waiting for us with open arms to forgive us of our sins. What a blessing it is to have such a merciful God.
I, too, sincerely pray Lori and her family will look to God for direction. I so appreciate you taking the time to share - I felt your heart, as well!
Bless you! Net
Our family will surely miss seeing Lori on Hallmark Channel - especially in Garage Sale Mysteries. We were also super excited to see her return in Fuller House for next season! This punishment seems too severe to me. I am THRILLED to hear that she quickly confessed and hope that there will be a bridge for reconciliation! It's so rare today that someone would confess.
ReplyDeleteShawna, I, too, wish things could be different here. Since WCTH was already taped, I feel they have also punished the rest of the cast, as well, by removing the show. I do wonder, if perhaps, it was out of Hallmark's control, and the advertisers were going to pull their support.
DeleteMy family and I will also very much miss Lori, as well. We also loved watching the Garage Sale Mysteries series of films.
I, too, am hoping for reconciliation - one day!
Thank you for sharing! Blessings to you, Net
I expect that you are spot on, Net, in your analysis of the likelihood that advertisers would pull their ad spots from Hallmark if WCTH episodes with Lori Loughlin were aired. Unfortunately, we have entered a time in this country where there is increasing intolerance of speech that may conflict with the approved views of media, entertainment and academic elites. Ironically, these folks ought to consider, "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone." Their holier than thou attitudes are evidence of their hypocrisy. It is truly sad but let us hope for brighter times ahead. Hope springs eternal!
DeleteKen
Someone could takes over Lori's role as Jennifer Shannon on Garage Sale Mysteries
ReplyDeleteYes, that could have been a possibility, but they, unfortunately, shut down production on this series.
DeleteShe needs our prayers more now than ever. God will forgive if she asked, but for a very flesh filled reason, people have a hard time forgiving/forgetting
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree, Teddy! Thank you for saying that, and thank you so much for praying along with us!
DeleteGod bless you! Net
Tim, Mary, Barbara and Others - I agree with what you are saying. The transcripts show that she knew that what she was doing was illegal. She must now face the unpleasant consequences. I agree with Hallmark's decision - you cannot have someone who did something this illegal, whose actions have negatively affected so many, continue on a family network. At this point I am angry at her and do not have any sympathy toward her, because I am not convinced that she has any sincere remorse for what she has done. Apparently in the courtroom she displayed a defiant attitude. I hope and pray that at the end of this road, she will come out a better person.
ReplyDeleteMark25
Mark25, I know this is difficult to take in. I still, at times, can hardly believe it is true. I've seen the transcripts, and you are right, they don't look good- at this point. I keep hoping there is some rational explanation.
DeleteAs for Lori in the courtroom, I heard the artist's interpretation of Lori's body language. Many say folded arms could mean many things - including uncertainty, stress, and insecurity. I wish there could have been some real pictures released- so we could have seen for ourselves.
I, too, pray something good comes out of this in the end.

As saddened as I am about the news, I do wish Hallmark had held off the cancellation of Garage Sale Mystery. They could have continued the series with Sarah Strange π
ReplyDeleteOh, I know how much you love this series, H.R. I, too, am sad to see "Garage Sale Mystery" come to an end. It was heartbreaking to see the responses from cast members.
DeleteBless you, Net
Lori isn't expected to return to Netflix’s Fuller House, on which she reprised her role of Aunt Becky from her days on the original Full House sitcom, she's recurring guest star, not series regular.
ReplyDeleteYes, Lori's contract with Netflix is over, too. So sad.
DeleteBlessings, Net
I do not see the big deal as far as the shows are concerned. They just re-cast her part(s) and go from there. This is done all the time in others programs and movies.Just look at how many super hero roles that are played by different people.
ReplyDeleteI do not watch WCTH but I am sure loyal fans will not abandon the series because of one role being changed.Hallmark has a whole list of talented actresses who could play this role I am sure.
Yes, they could re-cast her roles; however, WCTH was already filmed with all the cast and they only aired 3 episodes from season 6 before pulling it.
DeleteI'm not sure how the creative team plans to re-tool the episodes, but I'm certain it's not going to be easy.
Thank you for sharing. Blessings, Net
Hi Net,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting! My heart has just been so sad for Hallmark, the cast and crew that are affected, and for Lori and her family. I just pray and hope in time that there will be a chance for redemption and second chances!
Nancy, Thank you so much for sharing your heart and sadness... I feel exactly the same. I know this has been difficult and unpleasant for everyone involved.
DeleteI appreciate you sharing your hope for redemption and joining me in prayer.
Bless you, Net
I hope there's 2nd chances for Lori to resume her Hallmark movies project schedules even since her movies projects has been removal if Hallmark will give Lori a 2nd chance to resume her Hallmark movies & mystery movies
ReplyDeleteI also believe in second chances!
DeleteBless you, Net
It is sad about Lori Loughlin. I will miss seeing her in Hallmark movies and When Calls the Heart. Here is a thought thought. Has Hallmark thought of reaching out to Paige Turco. I think she would be great in Hallmark Gararge Sale Mysteries, When Calls the Heart and any Hallmark Movies. She is also a Great Actress. She Doesn't look like Lori but very close. Again She is a Great Actress. I have seen alot of her Movies. Like Secrets of the Mountain,The Game Plan, The StepFather, Ninja Turtles etc... Soaps like all My Children and Guiding Light. She has done TV Series, Law and Order SVU, Party of Five etc. I Really think she be a great asset to The Hallmark Family.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is all a very sad situation... I so agree. I have seen many actresses names floated around to replace Lori, including Andie MacDowell, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, Daphne Zuniga, and others. I think Paige Turco is also another good suggestion.
DeleteHowever, I think it would be quite hard for anyone to step into the role of Abigail Stanton and replace Lori.
Blessings, Net
My opinion may not be very favored here but here it is: While I hope that Lori's true friends, people that have known her forever and love her as well as her family support her in this time, I cannot support her and I am very upset at what she did and I back Hallmark 100% in cutting ties with her. Had I done something like this I would expect to lose my job and probably friends along the way. People say you do whatever for your kids, but this goes well outside the realm of what you should do for your children. This actually shows her kids and the other kids who's parents bought their way in school, that you can buy anything in life and who cares if you stomp on others. And it seems Olivia is ungrateful for being afforded the chance to go to college with her comments.
ReplyDeleteI know everyone makes mistakes, some mistakes are very small and don't hurt many people or anyone, some mistakes so big they hurt everyone and sometimes people lose their lives over those mistakes, but mistakes come with consequences. And I would think that if Lori was willing to do this illegal and immoral thing for her children, then she should be able to take what comes with it. I do wonder if she had a guilty conscience at all when she was filming her character Abigail and having to be as honorable as Abigail is. She is a really great actress and deserves an Oscar cause I watched her and thought I wasn't only seeing Abigail but Lori as well. I was wrong.
As a person who's family didn't have money to send me to any school, I had to work hard throughout my school career to go to community college first, and then I had to apply to a limited access program at FSU and I was so stressed about getting in, I waited for the mail every day hoping that I did enough with my grades to get in, and I got the letter one day and was so happy I made it. I moved 200 miles away from my family and it was so hard, being away and the program, but I kept working and got my degree. I had student loans that I paid off. So I guess this hurts me particularly hard, and I would like to think Olivia didn't know what her parents did when she was making her comments that sound like she is a spoiled brat but then I wonder how she couldn't know as wasn't she supposed to be on the crew team?
I do hope that Lori's true friends and family are their to support her, like I would be if this was something my friend or family did, but she needs to face the consequences of her actions and I believe Hallmark as well as Fuller House and anyone who dropped her daughter and her did the right thing.
I completely understand the various view points shared here, as I have had conflicting emotions, myself, each time I read this story or hear another news report on TV. It's difficult to understand why anyone with their incredible financial status would need to do what they did, but I suppose money, power, and maintaining a certain perceived social standing... can lead people to do unexpected things.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure this situation has been very difficult on their family. They can surely see the wrong they have done here; and when one makes a mistake, no matter who they are, rich or poor, they must pay for their actions. Hopefully, this will open their eyes in a whole new light and they will gain perspective. I pray so.
I'm such an optimistic, I keep hoping for a Hallmark happy twist to this story, but I don't see that happening today. Perhaps, one day... down the road.
Until then, I will continue to pray for all involved and affected by this situation.
Thank you ALL for sharing your hearts here with us. This story affects all of us viewers too!
Blessings to you all! Net
I would just like to say thank-you Net.
DeleteThis is such a difficult time but I am glad you posted this and at least gave fans a way to talk about things.
I am with you on being optimistic and hoping in the end some good will come out of all this.
Thank you, Anonymous... I am glad to give you the opportunity to express your thoughts and share your ideas on this.
DeleteI'm so glad my post here has uplifted you - even a little bit!
Bless you, Net
I agree, Jim... it is very hard to understand why someone in their position would do such a thing and risk virtually everything. It's unimaginable. Surely they had no idea of the possible ramifications of their actions.
DeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts. Bless you! Net
This is a wonderful post and I totally agree with you. Everyone has been so quick to judge. I personally think that Hallmark overreacted in pulling When Calls The Heart and everything that Ms. Loughlin has ever been in. She helped build the network into what it is today and they couldn't pull away from her fast enough. I agree that if she is guilty, it was dishonest and deceitful. I wonder how many other people are getting away with this?!
ReplyDeleteSusan, It is all truly unfathomable and I agree... the world does seem too quick to judge.
DeleteAnd, as you mentioned, Lori has been with Hallmark so long - it truly will be odd to go on without her. I think they had to let her go - because of their image and advertisers.
I appreciate you sharing! Blessings, Net
Thank you Net for sharing your perspective. This must be a really hard post to write. WCTH certainly has been through a lot this past few years! I am sad for Lori to go through this but she made a mistake and she needs to pay for the consequences. I do think Hallmark pulling all her current and past movies is a tad overreacting. Lori is definitely one of the “face” of hallmark with so many movies she starred in, so this is truly heartbreaking. I wish that they would just air the WCTH episodes that have been filmed. Why do they need to punish the other cast and crew members who have worked hard producing this? I personally would be okay for them to recast Abigail’s character with another actress next season. I would prefer Abigail not to get killed off like Jack! That would be way too much sadness.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, CH... it was hard to share this post. My heart is breaking for Lori, her family, and all at Hallmark. I cannot imagine how difficult this has been for her fellow cast members.
DeleteI agree... it would be awful to lose Abigail the same way we lost Jack. I don't think they would do that to the Hearties again. I hope not. I agree... that would be way too sad - again!
Bless you, Net
I agree on both points. If the accusations are true, Lori did make some grave errors and she must take the consequences. I do not support what she did, but I wish Hallmark could find a way to keep her in their family. When a friend or relative in our circle does something wrong, we don't usually drop them, do we? We try to find ways to be supportive of the person while they face whatever punishment they've earned. How else do we learn and grow? I'm probably not saying anything everyone else hasn't thought or said but glad I got to put my 2 cents in anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kara! I truly value your 2 cents! I, too, think it's very important we continue to be supportive of our Hallmark family. Even though they did something wrong, they will have to make restitution for their actions, and I pray, in time, we can all forgive.
DeleteI appreciate you sharing your support! Bless you, Net
Hallmark is still showing 7th Heaven and he was accused of molestation. But yet what she does they drop and take off air When Calls the Heart and anything with her in it. When the school is to blame as much as them. And someone who molested a kid you show on the air everyday and stop showing anything with a person who is good but made a terrible mistake caused no bodily harm off the air. But yet keep a molester on the air everyday and multiple times a day.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true... In fact, my Sister just mentioned that to me the other day - that it didn't make sense when he admitted to his guilt, and at this point, Lori is only being accused. I so agree.
DeleteUnrelated to Hallmark, but Kevin Spacey has also had assault charges, but is still being offered acting jobs. I agree... it doesn't make sense.
I feel very much the same as you do, Net. The whole situation is sad and difficult-- for so many. Yes, actions do have consequences, some of which remain to be seen. Like you, I hope that somehow, after some time, Lori Loughlin would find forgiveness and redemption. I'm praying for her and her family. As for WCTH, my preference would be that her character gets sent away for a time (maybe to go help Pastor Frank?). This would allow some time to determine if she would be able to return to her role in the future. Abigail's daughter Becky could return to take over the cafe and care for Cody (so he doesn't have to leave too). Or Clara could take over the cafe instead of working in the saloon (which would make Jesse happy)...Just some thoughts--although I realize other episodes with new story lines and characters have already been filmed... Re-tooling the show cannot be easy.
ReplyDeleteSo true, Janell... it is very sad for all involved. I like your suggestion of having Abigail go and work with Pastor Frank. That is an excellent idea, if it's possible with the other episodes. I'm sure, like you said, the editing process will not be easy.
DeleteThank you for sharing your prayers. Bless you, Net
She is alleged to have done something clearly wrong and unethical. But putting it in perspective, not nearly so bad as the MeToo perpetrators, child molesters or even our president and his cronies. I know Hallmark feels they have to take a stand, and probably should. But I really feel for her and I will miss my favorite Garage Sale mysteries and some of her other films. I always enjoyed her performances and material selection. I have to say, she was one of those who helped build this network to something really quite significant. I feel bad they dropped her like a hot potato. One thing not to schedule more production till a verdict comes in (and yes, indicted does not mean guilty) but to take the library and finished pieces off seems too over the top for me.
ReplyDeleteJeanie, in regard to Lori being let go so quickly, especially from WCTH, which was already filmed, is hard to understand. Removing and retooling the show is not only punishing her, but the rest of the cast and crew. I'm sure they feared losing their advertisers and tarnishing their wholesome image. It is such a difficult situation right now for everyone involved.
DeleteBlessings, Net
Many people have questioned why Hallmark has removed all movies with Lori Loughlin, chose to refilm WCTH rather than finish airing what they've already filmed, etc. One thing to consider is that Lori wasn't just an actress hired for a role. She was executive producer on WCTH and Garage Sale Mysteries and could potentially have had a financial/controlling stake in these programs.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that Hallmark could have a bit of a legal mess trying to fix all this and legal or contract issues led to them refilming WCTH, not showing what they've already filmed etc. They have to realize fans would much rather just finish the season now, but they are somehow prohibited from doing this.
I too enjoyed Lori as an actress on both these series and will miss Garage Sale Mysteries, which I was looking forward to this summer. At least WCTH will return.
I'm sure it was very difficult for Hallmark to deal with the sudden news about Lori. I do wish they'd finish playing When Calls The Heart since we want to see the rest of the current series. Due to the strict laws regarding these issues, I wouldn't count on the charges being dropped. But I would not want to miss out on the rest of this years WCTH series, so I hope they will air regardless. We'd like to at least have this much to enjoy. Her character could marry the pastor and leave on their honeymoon if the series needs an ending. Praying for Lori and her family.
