Coming this holiday season... "Little Big Town's Christmas at the Opry"!

According to NBC's press release, the two hour show, premiering on December 16th, will feature fan-favorite artists, including Dan + Shay, Kelsea Ballerini, Sheryl Crow, Kirk Franklin, Josh Groban, Kate Hudson and Orville Peck.

Hosting this holiday musical event are: Grammy Award-Winning Musical Group Little Big Town.

Following the shows broadcast on NBC, the special will be available for streaming on Peacock the next day.

This Christmas musical event will take place in front of a live audience at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.

NBC shared this statement from Little Big Town in their press release, "We are simply beside ourselves to announce that we will host our own NBC holiday special at the prestigious Grand Ole Opry House," said Opry members Little Big Town. "This is an incredible honor for us, and we are beyond thrilled to share this special evening with viewers and fans across the country. We've invited some of our dearest friends to join us on stage, and we can't wait for everyone to experience the magic of the holidays at such an incredible venue. After 25 years as a band, we're also excited to release our very first Christmas album and are thrilled to perform some of those classics during this special."

"Little Big Town's Christmas at the Opry" will air on NBC December 16, 2024 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Stream next day on Peacock.

There are two new specials on the CMT channel TONIGHT. The one I'm most looking forward to seeing is “CMT Crossroads Christmas: FOR KING + COUNTRY & Friends.” It's a musical holiday special with the Christian singing duo FOR KING + COUNTRY, composed of brothers Luke and Joel Smallbone. Joining them in this one-hour special is their sister, Rebecca St. James, and friends: BRELAND, Chrissy Metz, and Natalie Grant.

According to CMT, “CMT Crossroads Christmas: FOR KING + COUNTRY & Friends” includes Christmas memories and energetic, compelling versions of “Joy To The World,” “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” “Go Tell It On The Mountain,” “Silent Night” and more. I've personally seen For King & Country in concert at Christmastime singing their well-known version of "Little Drummer Boy," etc... They are truly spectacular! Amazing! Incredible!

“CMT Crossroads Christmas: FOR KING + COUNTRY & Friends” airs Monday, December 12th at 10p/9c.

Encore showings are currently scheduled on CMT at these times: Monday, December 12th at 11p/10c; Sunday, Dec. 18th at 11a/10c; and a special Christmas Eve airing Saturday, December 24th, at 7a/6c.

Airing before this musical special tonight is an all-new Christmas movie premiere, "A Nashville Country Christmas," starring well-known country singer Tanya Tucker. In addition to airing on CMT, this movie will also air on the Paramount Network.

Movie Synopsis: "A Nashville Country Christmas" follows a country music superstar who bolts from her outrageous lifestyle and hides at her grandmother's farm, where she finds romance when she reconnects with her handsome ex.

Please know I'm not aware if this will be family-friendly, as I have not pre-screened this movie. I do want to mention in the promo (see video clip below), they show men dancing behind Tanya in a farm-themed country music video who are shirtless. This must be the "outrageous lifestyle" she escapes from. Hopefully, this is as outrageous as it gets.

My Movie Review:

If you are searching for a timeless movie treasure, then take an excursion back in time to 'Meet Me in St. Louis'...

By far, one of the best musicals ever maid! Judy Garland sings "The Boy Next Door", "The Trolley Song", and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," still a Christmas standard favorite all these years later! All three songs are absolutely beautiful and a joy to watch! There are also wonderful dancing scenes, as well. At one point everyone at Lon's going away party is dancing to "Skip to my Lou" and then later, Esther's little sister, Tootie, talks her into doing a special song and dance number with her.

'Meet Me in St. Louis' is such a sweet story about the everyday life, in one year, of the Smith family, which consists of their father, Alonzo (a prominent attorney), their mother, Anna, grandpa, one son, Lon (who is the eldest and goes to college), and 4 daughters: Rose, Esther (Judy Garland), Agnus, and Tootie, who is the youngest and quite spirited.

This wonderful family film centers around the excitement of the Smith family just as the World's Fair will be coming to their hometown of St. Louis. Everything is tranquil and ideal in their little world until the day when Alonzo (the father) announces they will be moving to New York. At first, the family is not thrilled with this idea. Esther has just recently caught the eye of the "boy next door" and doesn't want to leave and everyone else is also attached to their home, friends, community, and simple way of life. The family, however, eventually comes around, and is supportive, yet still very sad, that they will have to leave their friends and home. Their father promises them that at least they will come back for the fair, maybe.

Near the end of the movie, there is a touching Christmas scene that is beautiful and sure to warm your heart!

'Meet Me in St. Louis' is as wholesome and American as Apple Pie. It's purity and sweetness is why I love it so much; it may also be the reason why it has reached the hearts of generation after generation.

Plus, Santa Claus makes a special appearance, too!

The National Park Service planted a new National Christmas Tree last month on the Ellipse in President’s Park. The new tree is a 30-foot Colorado blue spruce from Palmyra, Pa., and will be lit for the first time during this year’s ceremony.

PLOT:

Storyline via Hallmark: Event planner Rachel Davis returns to her Tennessee hometown to take on the biggest job of her career – Dollywood’s 30th Smoky Mountain Christmas celebration – and is teamed up with unimaginative operations director Luke Hakman to plan the event that has to be as bombastic and glamourous as Dolly Parton herself. Last night, between new movies... I turned it to getTV and thoroughly enjoyed watching one of the old Andy Williams Christmas Specials. This was all completely new to me, because it's before my time; however... oh my, what talent, and such a beautiful family too! My take:

This sounds like such a wonderful show to put viewers in the Holiday Spirit! And, what better way to experience the joy of Christmas during the Holiday Season... then to see the act of giving in motion with the Charities that will be presented throughout the program!

I'm also delighted that Michael W. Smith, Vince Gill, and Kellie Pickler will be adding their incredible voices to this special! Thank you, Hallmark, for giving us a ticket to this festive Christmas show! I'll be sitting in the front row, and I hope all of you will join me!
