"When Will Great American Family Start Playing Movies Again?" is THE QUESTION I see all of the time, since Great American Family stopped playing their movies back at the beginning of April. During this break, GAF's movies have instead aired weekends on the all-new Merit Street Channel; however, this hasn't sufficed viewers, who have repeatedly asked when the movies will return regularly on Great American Family.
Well, today, I have an exciting answer to share with all of you...
A commenter on Instagram, whose name is *luckymommasue*, politely asked the network,
Great American Family replied, "Don't worry, we've got a steady stream of movies coming your way on Great American Family over the next few months! ❤️π¬
Here's a screen-grab of the exchange:
Yay! Movies are coming back soon on Great American Family—a "steady stream" of them! That is such terrific news! I hope we will see many of our beloved favorites return. I wonder if they will air during the week, like before, or on the weekends? We'll have to be sure to keep an eye out for any schedule updates and additional news. If any of you catch anything, please let me know!
I don't understand GAF. They show Christmas movies for 2 1/2 months and promote commercials saying that they have broke all kinds of ratings records. Then the rest of the year they make it a 24/7 Murder she wrote and Perry Mason channel. Every now and then they show a movie here and there, but it's getting to where it's not worth supporting them if they don't care about their audience.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this information. I have been frustrated with GAF since they stopped airing movies this past April. And I couldn't get an answer as to why they were playing repeats of Perry Mason and Murder She Wrote. I pay $12.99/month to my cable company just to stream the GAF Channel. If they don't begin airing movies again, I am dropping the extra streaming fee.I already pay a fortune for regular cable.
DeleteChriss, I understand your disappointment with the current Great American Family schedule. I, too, would love to see movies return.
DeleteThe CEO of Great American Media is promising movies will return with Christmas in July and we can expect more movies in July, August, September, and October... and absolutely throughout the Christmas season.
I explain this a little more in my post today, here:

I hope this information is helpful to you.
Blessings, Net
Thank you.
DeleteThanks for the info! -Maria
ReplyDeleteThat really does not tell us anything. The next few months could be next month in June, could be July or could even be August. Looking up for the meaning of the next few months, this is what I found "a few months = between 3 and 5 usually." Personally I believe there any movies until July maybe August. A date is what all of us fan want.
ReplyDeleteIs this channel going to be available in Canada ?
ReplyDeleteI will be cautiously optimistic....I've been unimpressed with GAF outside of their Christmas movies. I understand that they need to build up their catalog, and with the actor's strike i'm sure that put a wrench in a lot of their plans. I just don't enjoy most of the "older" shows that they have on their stations, so basically since April I haven't watched much of their programming. I know i'm not alone in this so that makes me feel better! lol.
ReplyDeletePlus, this doesn't tell us if they have any NEW movies, or just repeats. Amy in San Diego
ReplyDeleteI think people need to show them a little grace. They have basically been around for about three years…a little less. It takes time to build up the financial resources to make movies. There have already been times where Bill Abbott has said that a movie or movies did not meet their standards and the wanted to do better. Just go back to the early days of Hallmark. They made fewer movies and their quality was weaker. It takes time. You just can flip a switch. Patience.
ReplyDeleteI'm naturally happy about this news. I'm willing to wait, hopefully patiently! I'm not sure why everyone is so impatient. They are a new channel and need time. I remember when Hallmark did the same thing in their early days! At any rate, I hope this helps to stop the complaining! Sorry, but my feelings.
ReplyDeleteWill we see any Great American Family movies on DVD again?
ReplyDeleteChris, I sure hope so! I'm always keeping a look out for them, and if I see any from Great American Family, I'll be sure to share them! :)

Been looking for these, too. They did a selection from their first Christmas but nothing after that.
DeleteMany movies on their streaming service on YouTube.
DeleteThe Family Practice mysteries is streaming early on Hallmark Now. The movie was family-friendly, but I'll admit I was surprised that two swear words were included towards the end of the movie. Other than that it was surprisingly good.
ReplyDeletethank you!
ReplyDeleteMy wild guess...they'll do a Christmas in July starting on Friday, June 28 with round-the-clock movies, going at least for a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI’m with those who say we need to be patient while GAF grows. “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” as they say.
ReplyDeletePer an email from Bill Abbott, GAF will not return to showing new movies until Mon, July 29th. Then, it appears movies will air on Mondays for 7 weeks before maybe another two week break before Christmas. Not sure about that part. They will be airing movies that are available on Pure Flix, like Mr. Manhattan, probably the Jodie S one, maybe Quest for Love (already free on apps for those who stream), & Candace's mystery. He said both Candace's movie & the PenaVega's movie will air in Sept. Maybe they will finally show Mystery by the Book, but do know it's "mystery lite" as in it's not a murder mystery; which some only want to see. Not me. I don't watch murder mysteries, but that's me. They are doing Christmas in July, but he didn't specify much on that. I have a feeling it will be limited, because he shared, as I and some others who've looked knew, that Perry Mason brings in double to sometimes triple (his words) the daily viewership than showing movies does, and that they have to show what attracts advertisers bc networks can't survive without ad dollars. Those who complain about commercials need to understand that without them, there wouldn't be any networks! Providers sell ad spots, but so do networks. That's why Christmas is huge, bc the largest viewers tune in at Christmas for these networks.
ReplyDeleteI loved Quest for love and I'm looking forward to seeing more!
DeleteI love watching the old Colombo and Perry mason and murdershewrote. I absolutely never watched your channel before. So I will tune out all those movies. That’s why I have HBO and Prime.
DeleteI’ve enjoyed many of the GFAM movies and the fact that all there is … is ungodly trash out here on the other networks , including their commercials. I know the waiting is difficult, but I’m sure it will be worth it. I feel it is imperative that we have our own REAL family channels and I hope to see the GFAM channel movies back on real soon.
ReplyDeleteThere is a free streaming service on YouTube. It shows many movies and County rescue . There are other videos on there as well. XUMO also has Great American Adventures and that's free and Great american Faith and Family has other programming as well. Remember Great american Pure Flix just brought out Mr. Manhattan with Carlos and Alexa Penavega. That will be shown in August on Great American family as well. There's also Christmas in July. Good bless!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved watching GFAM but the Christmas Movies are becoming aggravating. All Day Long, Every Day 24/7. Enough Already. I love Christmas Movies yes at Christmas TIME. I thought when this channel came It was going to be something different but it's more of the same thing different channel. Change up already but, I guess it's too late. Oh well on to another channel for the rest of the year.
