Happy National Day of Prayer!

Happy National Day of Prayer!

I love how our nation comes together on this day to pray! We certainly have numerous issues as a country, including our freedoms, security, the economy, and more. On this day, we lift up those concerns to our Heavenly Father.

The 2024 Theme for The National Day of Prayer...

LIFT UP THE WORD - LIGHT UP THE WORLD

"For you are my lamp, O Lord, and my God lightens my darkness. For by You I can run against a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God—his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; He is a shield for all those who take refuge in Him."
~2 Samuel 22:29-31

Recently, I was re-watching the promo video for Candace Cameron Bure’s new Great American Family Christmas movie, A Christmas Less Traveled, and near the end of the commercial, Candace says, “...the themes in the story have a lot to do with forgiveness and faith and allowing faith to be bigger than fear.” That profound statement of *faith over fear* keeps repeating in my mind as I often need that encouragement throughout my day, and it brought to mind that while I was looking at Christian tees the other day on Amazon, I happened to see a t-shirt with that same message. So, I thought I would share that *faith over fear* t-shirt and others with you all below.

I personally love to wear an inspirational graphic tee or sweatshirt (depending on the weather, of course) to remind myself and others around me that God is bigger and greater than any problems we may face. When fear comes, I try my best to replace that fear with my faith. No matter what we face today, tomorrow, and in the future, God is with us.

For we walk by faith, not by sight.
~Corinthians 5:7

So faith comes from hearing,
and hearing through the word of Christ.

God’s blessings to you all on this National Day of Prayer!

My prayer is for peace… peace here at home and in Israel, for all of America’s allies, and for God’s people all around the world!

As I end this post, I thought I would share one of Matthew West’s newest songs as a reminder to “Don't Stop Praying.” I pray this song touches many of you, as it has deeply touched my heart.

God bless you all!

  1. Hi Net,

Happy National Day of Prayer! Thank you for reminding us how important prayer is and what power it has. God is good.

  2. Fear, Worry, and Anxiety control my life the vast majority of the time it seems. That's what I am striving for is to allow my faith to be bigger than my fear. Unfortunately, that is not the case at this time.

I love this post, especially today, Net. Thank you. I may buy that 1st shirt in the second row. I also need the constant reminder.

I had an experience on Sunday while visiting my local Church. I sat in this prayer garden they have there and had a remarkable experience. It felt as if I had stepped into Holiness itself. Not my holiness but Holiness itself. Like I had stepped into God's presence in a very powerful way. I remember thinking Wow!! this is what it is all about. This feels like my true HOME (not at the church) but in God's presence (heaven), and I want to stay here. The feeling was so palpable. Something that felt supernatural. Something so different from just feeling like I was having a good day in my body. Something I did not deserve to feel. It felt like the veil between heaven and earth had thinned some. It was amazing. It will always stick with me and a reminder that God's presence is REAL and when we are graced and blessed to get a taste of it in a very powerful way, we can know that we are not believing in vain. Of course, I had to leave and the fears and worries of life returned and those wonderful feelings dissipated like mist in the morning sun but what I experienced there was intoxicating. If only I could bottle it and drink as desired.

    1. Jim I wish I could give you a hug! I believe many of us here have felt some form of fear, worry, anxiety, or depression on some level, especially after Covid/year 2020 where fear was being shoved down our throats on every news and media outlet. This is a reason why I do not watch the news, it’s just fear and sad story after sad story, I stay up to date on current events through my family, friends and church as they will discuss hot topics we need to pray for. I totally can relate to what you are saying, many times we go to church service or Bible study or just an event with our brothers and sisters in Christ and the Holy Spirit speaks to us and we feel amazing and like our burdens were just lifted off of us. But then we leave and can feel that heaviness again, and then the enemy can start to attack our mind. When reading your post I thought of the book or Mark, chapter 9 when the man asks Jesus to heal his son & he says “I believe, but help my unbelief!” God knows we are not perfect, we all sin everyday and need to seek help from Him. And that’s one thing we can specifically ask God to help us with, to help us with our unbelief during hard times or with certain feelings we have. Praying for you 😊

And Net I love that song! we have K-Love playing 24/7 and I always hear it!

    2. So true Paula about feeling that heaviness when you leave the church. I feel the exact same way. I sometimes think of visiting that Church like from that movie, "Field of Dreams"...when they cross the threshold from the ball field and into the corn stalks (heaven). Once I cross the parking lot and onto the holy grounds of the Shrine something just feels so different. Like I have entered a different realm and then once I return to my car the heaviness returns, especially after I leave the lot and am driving home. It just feels sooo different. I feel vulnerable again.

    3. Jim, Thank you for sharing your amazing experience in the presence of Christ with us. You are certainly not alone in your feelings. Many of us feel the exact same way. Like dear Paula said, there are moments with great peace and clarity, knowing God is on the throne and in all power and authority, while other times we forget that and experience doubt. And I agree, the news certainly does not help one bit.

When I see things happening in the world that are upsetting and disturbing, I like to sing the chorus to the song, "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow." I'm sure you know it, but here is the chorus...

      "Many things about tomorrow
      I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand."

I'm lifting you up in my prayers, Jim. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

      God bless!!! Group Hug!!! :)

    4. Paula, I forgot to mention, we also have KLOVE playing all throughout the day (day and night!) in one or two rooms in our home. It's beautiful to feel the presence of God and the powerful words of God's praises!!!!

One of my favorites is "You've Already Won"... (I'm sure you know it!)

      Chorus:
      "I'm fighting a battle
      That you've already won
No matter what comes my way
      I will overcome
      I don't know what You're doing
But I know what You've done
      I'm fighting a battle that
      You've already won

      To God be The Glory!!!!
Have a blessed, beautiful weekend, Net

    6. Yes! I love to listen to K~Love as well! My favorite singer on there is Phil Wickam. I love how his songs are praises to the Lord! And I pray the words as I sing along. The song Living Hope gives me chills!😊

    7. Abigail, I love Phil Wickam! I saw him & Brandon Lake in concert last fall & they were amazing, they did a couple acoustic songs which were my favorite. I have went to a lot of concerts in my 20s (when I had walked away from God) and this was my first ever Christian concert and it was such an amazing experience.

  4. Thank you Net for these faith posts. Praying hard today for our country today. It’s scary to see all the hate out there across the college campuses.
