On Thanksgiving morning, it's an annual tradition for families to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade; however, oftentimes, children watch much of the program alone as parents are in and out of the room, cooking the turkey and side dishes and generally, just preparing for Thanksgiving day. While the parade is thought of as a safe, family-friendly show, this year, it will include some content you should know...
The prominently known organization made up of Christian mothers, called One Million Moms, began a petition on November 8th, warning that the "holiday parade will potentially expose tens of millions of viewers at home to the liberal LGBTQ agenda."
One Million Moms further stated, "Performances showcased in the parade will include music from two Broadway musicals, "& Juliet" and "Shucked," both of which feature transgender and non-binary performers in major roles."
I wanted to be certain you all were made aware of this content before watching the parade with your families. The Broadway musical portion of the show is usually the entire hour before the actual parade begins.
I also want to thank a special It's a Wonderful Movie family member who reached out to me by email to be sure I was aware of this to share with all of you. Thank you, my friend, for being so thoughtful. God bless you!
Also, I have some news for those of you, who have the streaming service, Disney+. The series The Santa Clauses Season 2 includes anti-Christian content in its 2nd season.
According to a review by Movieguide, "The first three episodes of THE SANTA CLAUSES: Season Two have many funny, entertaining and heartwarming scenes, but a subplot occurs in Episode Two and especially Episode Three where Scott’s daughter, is taking lessons in witchcraft from the local witch at the North Pole."
The review from Movieguide further explains that Scott Calvin's daughter... "Sandra, who works with Santa’s reindeer, is having problems handling her new magical powers, which let her hear everything every animal at the North Pole is saying. Her parents don’t understand what she’s going through. Also, she’s becoming estranged from her mother, Carol, aka Mrs. Clause. So, Sandra turns to the local witch, the eccentric La Befana."
I personally do not have Disney+, but The Santa Clause original movies have always held a special place in my heart, so it's disappointing to learn the series is heading down this dark path. I'm not sure where this story will lead throughout the rest of season 2, but Movieguide gives us a glimmer of hope with this statement, "Hopefully, though, the series eventually will denounce the use of witchcraft in the final three episodes of Season Two. MOVIEGUIDE® will let you know what happens."
Well, I just wanted to inform you all so you can make viewing decisions that are appropriate for yourself and your families.

Thank you Net for the helpful warnings. I normally don't watch the parades on a screen. Sad though for my Christian friends who do like to watch.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you concerning the Santa Clause. I stopped watching S1 because of the witch. But to be honest, the series was boring me anyway. I switched watching half way and watched the 2nd Santa Clause movie. I just love that one!
Thanks Net for this info! There is no end to what evil will try. This makes me sad and angry at the same time. Jesus paid the price for our freedom! Too bad they don't get it.
ReplyDeleteWe will be going to the farm to celebrate Thanksgiving and there are no tv's to watch there. We are celebrating pilgrim style; eating outdoors!
Happy Thanksgiving and blessings everyone!
Thank you Net for letting us know about Macy parade content. I think I will watch Miracle on 34th Street instead, the good old days Macy's Thanksgiving parade!
ReplyDeleteWe’ve been watching the second season of The Santa Clauses and while Sandra is trying to figure out her powers, I have a feeling that they tend toward being like Scott’s magical Santa powers. Or at least that is where they are heading. Anyway, I would agree this season wouldn’t be for younger viewers be we are still enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the heads-up about the parade. I'm not surprised, unfortunately, as the Broadway hour has been causing me to raise my eyebrows for a few years now. Sounds like they're not even going to be subtle about it this year. I just hope the parade itself is OK. Then there are the "woke" commercials to worry about. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteFirst, I read more into the OMM petition. While it is disheartening that they are including this in a family program, they aren't going to state who they are/what they are/etc on screen. I guarantee you a LARGE population of band members, performers, etc have been part of the letter parade community for decades and it has never stopped anyone from watching the parade. I would have a HUGE problem with it if they were going to audibly share who they are (or what they think they are) to my children, but I'm glad that won't be the case.
ReplyDeleteSecond, we haven't watched any of the Santa Claus series with our children (8 and younger) because we didn't want to expose them to the divorce content. However, I am shocked that Tim Allen would be about this witchcraft stuff, as he is an outspoken conservative and Christian. Interesting and disappointing for sure. I know he refused to voice Buzz when he learned that the Lightyear movie had gay characters.
I think its important to note that in this limited series Tim Allen insisted that the birth of Jesus be acknowledged as the reason for Christmas in the first place. As you know, it's the rare Christmas movie that does that these days. I can probably count on one hand the number of times a Hallmark movie even acknowledges this.
ReplyDeleteI thank you for the warnings! Even though my kids are grown, and the grands visited last week, this Mama/YaYa appreciates it. I do, however, even as a conservative Christian, want to remind all to show love, be the light! Pray for parents, like myself, whose child or children have been mislead by culture, Professors, colleagues, etc.. Pray for those adults/children as well. Happy viewing of whatever you choose to watch tomorrow, perhaps leave the TV off and just be present.
ReplyDeleteSanta can deliver presents across the world in one night. If that's not magical powers I don't know what is. However, in the grand scheme of things Santa doesn't exist and yet hundreds of thousands of children have faith and believe. Is there faith wrong because Santa is not God? If so, none of us should watch any Christmas movie or show containing a Santa.
