On this patriotic holiday weekend, we celebrate the Independence of the United States of America! I can never say enough how grateful I am to live in this country, where we are free. I pray as we go forth, Americans will choose wisely in upcoming elections, and we will continue to be, as our Pledge of Allegiance says... "one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all!"

Patriotic Movies on DVD:
I loved USS Christmas when I saw it last! It was family friendly and Trevor and Jen had such great chemistry! The story was so sweet as well. It was like it had a touch of a Signed Sealed Delivered.
ReplyDeleteAbigail, Awww... I love the comparison! I agree, USS Christmas is wonderful! I keep hoping since Trevor and Jen are both working with GAC Family now, they will work together again.
DeleteI'll be recording movies on GAC family this weekend :). Also, I heard today that The Christmas Farm has been retitled to A Merry Christmas Wish. -Maria
ReplyDeleteMaria, Yes! It's a great time to record the GAC Family Christmas movies this weekend, especially if anyone missed any of them last year. It's too bad they aren't playing the When Hope Calls Christmas movie, too. I noticed Super Channel Heart and Home in Canada is playing it and other Christmas movies during their Christmas in July event.
DeleteThank you so much for the tip on the new title for The Christmas Farm. I found the article about it and shared the news in a new post - here:
https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2022/06/Jill-Wagner-Cameron-Mathison-GAC-Family-A-Merry-Christmas-Wish-Movie-2022.html
I did like the original title better, though, since it described the setting of the movie better. The new title, A Merry Christmas Wish, sounds very basic and similar to previous ones. Oh well, I guess... It still looks like a really fun movie!
Thank you, again, for sharing this update! :)
I know this isn't a popular opinion around here, ;) but I am not a fan of Christmas in July anything. LOL When it's Summer, I only want Summery things. :) However, I understand that "Christmas in July" is a fun thing that people do like. I just wish that Hallmark, GAC and other channels like that would wait until maybe July 5th to start the Christmas shows. There are so many great 4th of July movies that they could run as a marathon over the holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteGrace, I understand how you feel. I also have mixed feelings about Christmas in July and all the hoopla. While I enjoy seeing some of my favorite Christmas movies again in July, in no way is this time of year, in my opinion, better than the actual Christmas season -when we celebrate the birth of Jesus!
DeleteI also agree, that it disappointing to not see patriotic/military movies actually airing on the 4th of July, especially when Hallmark has so many great options.
I noticed in the promo commercial for Hallmark's Christmas in July featuring Campfire Christmas, Corbin Bleu's character says: "You know, Christmas in July always meant more to me than any Christmas in December."
I heard that and I thought... Wait. What? I rewound it and listened to it again, and yes, that's what he says. That is totally the wrong message of Christmas. The celebration of the birth of our Savior should be more important and special than anything else we do all year.
As with everything else, Christmas in July depends on the heart of the person. What is our focus? I think we should spiritually celebrate the gift of the first Christmas every day of the year. Does Christmas in July do that for most people? Probably not, but I do enjoy hearing those traditional Christmas carols in the background, like "Joy to the World" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” I pray lyrics like that flow into the spirit of those watching, even if they don't realize it.
I totally agree with you about the true meaning of Christmas. And that is very sad for Corbin's character to have that mentality. But sadly, that is the mentality of the unbelieving world. And on my end, I am a seasonal girl and I love Summer, so that is my main personal issue (not really an issue or a huge deal lol) so when Summer finally gets here, I don't want to think about Winter or Christmas. I won't watch Fall themed movies when it isn't Fall either. Plus, I am also weird in that I don't like to watch Christmas things without a Christmasy atmosphere, (lights, tree, cozyness, etc.) I am probably the only one like that. Hehehe!
DeleteHappy July 4th!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Denise! Happy July 4th weekend to you, too!
DeleteI keep hoping gac family will start making mystery movie series.
ReplyDeleteAbigail, Yes! I would love to see that, as well, especially mysteries like Signed, Sealed, Delivered!
DeleteWouldn't it be wonderful if gac family could continue SSD, like When Hope Calls was.
DeleteHappy July 4th everyone! Net, I love your banners and messages. So proud to be an American! God bless America again.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more kitkat!! God bless all the American military who sacrifice so much so we can have freedom!

DeleteAngel Falls Christmas
ReplyDeleteCONTAINS SPOILERS
Jessica Lowndes and Chad Michael Murray are perhaps an acquired taste - they do have their detractors but I personally really like them both.
I was really looking forwrd to this as one of the picks of last year's GAC Christmas season.
Ally (Jessica) is a workaholic with little love for Christmas and has just broken up with her boyfriend Josh when she meets Gabe (Chad) who is an angel masquerading as a barista whose mission is to teach her the spiirit of Christmas.
I did think Gabe was acting rather distant for the first part of the movie - and I have seen several others comment to this effect - but in retrospect I can see that perhaps this was the way he was meant to play it as events turned out.
The other members of Gabe's angel team were pretty good in their parts.
There is no question there was chemistry between Ally and Gabe, good interaction and dialogue as Ally began to lighten, the situations were compelling and touching and I was really enjoying the movie, little knowing the shock which was just around the corner.
Maybe I just didn't pick up on the clues such as when Ally's ex beat Gabe to win the Christmas Wreath competition.
Funnily enough when I had read the description in Net's initial blurb I had thought it was rather strange to insinuate Ally might get together again with Josh but then promptly forgot about it.
It was building up to the inevitable conclusion when I suddenly realised that the plot was heading in an unexpected direction.
I had totally misread it - Ally went back to her ex Josh with her new-found Christmas spirit , and she left her doctor's job at the hospital to take over a practice where she would have a more normal work period - I screamed a loud NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.............!
What on earth were GAC thinking of - did they just want to be different from Hallmark?
Lowndes and Murray were touted as the stars of the film.
Why on earth she would end up with a guy who had no charisma and with whom she had no chemistry?
For me, this was totally the wrong ending - within a year she would be bored to tears, start opening longer hours at her practice and her relationship would disintegrate.
I was totally flabberghasted - anyone else feel shortchanged here?
Very difficut to put a rating on this - until the ending I was enjoying it - could have been an 8 but maybe a 5 or 6 - Florence
Florence, What a great review of Angel Falls Christmas! (For others reading, my response may contain SPOILERS!)
DeleteI was surprised, as well, where they took the love story. I kept thinking... Surely not... They aren't going to put her with... Even though in my head I knew it just had to be like "The Bishop's Wife," in my heart I kept thinking it might not end that same way, but it did. I agree, it was truly surprising. We need another Chad Michael Murray Christmas movie on GAC Family - where he gets the girl!
Thank you for your wonderful review, Florence. I posted it to the Christmas Reviews from 2021 here:

I watched Match Made at Christmas and I personally didn't really care for it. The male lead in particular was pretty mean and rude. It just left a bad taste in my mouth.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I appreciate you sharing your take on "A Match Made at Christmas." I was taken aback, myself, by the attitude of the leading male several times throughout the movie. I really had mixed feelings on this one. I'm so glad you shared your thoughts... to be honest, I'm still rather puzzled by it.
