Hello Friends,
It's the first weekend in October... the season of pumpkin patches, Autumn harvest, leaves turning, flannel shirts and blankets, campfires and s'mores, and so much more. For those of us, who experience the season in all of it's colorful splendor, it is such a beautiful time of year.
Unfortunately, for our friends in Florida and the islands nearby, it's also the season for hurricanes; plus, storms are moving along the Carolinas and up the eastern coast. I pray all of you who visit here at It's a Wonderful Movie are safe and your homes did not suffer any damage. Please know you are continually in our thoughts and prayers.
I hope many of you will be able to relax after the storm has fully passed and enjoy the new movies airing this weekend. Blessings to you all!
See details on the four new movies below...

My #1 Movie Pick this weekend is "Home for Harvest" on Great American Family. I especially love how it is fall-themed. Can't wait to see this one! Even though it's been available to stream for awhile, it's one I just hadn't caught, yet. So... I'm looking forward to finally doing so this weekend.
We also have this delightful review from Abigail, a regular reviewer here at It's a Wonderful Movie...
π "Home for Harvest is family friendly. I saw it a couple years ago and just last loved it! ...Finally time for pumpkins!π God bless!" ~Abigail
Florence, who also contributes wonderful reviews, provided her thoughts on UPtv's "A Country Romance." See her review here!
I also wanted to share, that I am intrigued by the new mystery, Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths; however, I wanted to caution that several press images show the characters drinking in a bar setting. I just wanted to be sure you all were aware before watching.
There are only 3 episodes left of Chesapeake Shores. If you'd like to see details on this weekend's episode, titled: I Get a Kick Out of You, then click here.
Disclaimer: Please know when I share a movie, this is NOT an endorsement of any of the actors involved, personally or professionally, with their other TV/film projects.
Please note: I have not pre-screened the new movies airing this weekend. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments. Thank you to both Abigail and Florence for sharing reviews!
Looks like some great movies for the weekend. Will be rain from Hurricane Ian, hopefully downgraded to a tropical storm, here for the next few days.
ReplyDeleteI personally liked A Country Romance, Nikki and Nora could be interesting.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying anything about Home For Harvest but I can't wait to see the reviews here for it - Florence
Sorry to put this here but want to make sure more people have the opportunity to see it.
ReplyDeleteLast month, I got a Roku and recently found what is listed below. I have not yet watched any movies from some of the following so do not know if all of their content is family friendly but definitely feel like these are worth checking out further: (Almost all of the info. comes directly from each source.)

In addition to local news and weather, Local Now also has thousands of FREE movies and live TV channels to choose from! Always Christmas Network is Channel 1640, and Christmas Classics Network is Channel 1642. There are also some Faith & Family networks.
I have this network through my cable provider. I found that it is also available through Roku:
WHAT IS POSITIV TV?
POSITIV TV IS A NATIONAL AND FREE 24/7 MOVIE NETWORK SHOWCASING FAVORITES FROM HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS AND INDEPENDENT PROVIDERS. WE OFFER STORIES OF HOPE, COURAGE, COMPASSION, HONOR, REDEMPTION, AND TRIUMPH – MOVIES WITH A MESSAGE THAT WILL NOT ONLY MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD BUT ALSO INSPiRE YOU TO DO GOOD.
Nikki & Nora looks kinda cheesy. I have a feeling it won't have a strong cast like Aurora, Garage Sale, 101, Hailey Dean, ect. I'll give it a try and will let you know if it is family friendly.
ReplyDeleteI don't like alcohol scenes either,(don't like alcohol period) hopefully they will be short. And more of a restaurant than a bar.
My don't feel comfortable watching A County Romance because the actor Jonathan Bennett is gay.

ReplyDeleteMagnum P.I. Season 5 on NBC Adds Michael Rady in Recurring Role
ReplyDeleteMichael Rady as Detective Christopher “Chris” Childs, Honolulu PD
I'm glad to hear Michael Rady is still acting. Hope he can still squeeze in a Christmas movie or rom-com sometime! :)
DeleteMichael Rady hadn’t do Christmas movies with Hallmark last year & even this year but this year, he probably doing Christmas movie(s) for GAC/GAFAM
DeleteMy mom and I watched Nikki and Nora Sister Sleuths tonight and enjoyed it. There is drinking as some had mentioned from the preview, but partially because some of the scenes take place at a cop bar (a source of information). I thought the characters were well developed and the clues to pick up on were good. If you pay attention, you just might solve it before the big reveal. As a side note- the nod to Nick and Nora Charles of The Thin Man murder mysteries (1930s-40s) was subtle but fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'll give it a try tonight. Was it family friendly??
DeleteNikki and Nora: Sister Sleuths was a good mystery movie, and it was family friendly for teen and up. There is mention of one suspect’s affair (obviously not in a positive light). I hope they make a second movie as I liked the characters. It also does not follow the usual Hallmark formula! I watched it with my mom and 13-year-old, and all of us enjoyed it.
DeleteAnonymous reviewers, So nice to hear your thoughts on Nikki and Nora. I'm also glad you were able to watch comfortably with your family.
DeleteI posted both of your reviews here:

Hallmark adds Hallmark Movies Now on Checklist with 570 movies
ReplyDeleteOK, friends! Why didn't someone correct me on this site when I posted Benjamin Hollingsworth as Woolsworth? Have no clue where I picked up his last name. I am laughing out loud.
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's so funny kitkat! It happens to me too!ππ
DeleteI see they put Christmas CEO on another dvd set. Not a set I would buy for $30. Would be nice to put it on with maybe My Christmas Family Tree or Return to Christmas Creek and Christmas Bow. Now that is a set I would buy.
ReplyDeleteOver the weekend, I finally watched Splash of Love. Another keeper for me. It was a Benjamin Hollingsworth weekend for me. After watching Can't Buy My Love, Splash of Love, and Romance in Style, ( Benjamin Hollinsworth was fantastic in all 3), but his chemistry with Jaicy Elliot was the best. For me, Romance in Style is near the top of my list for 2022. The messages were subtle, but they were there. The saying,"never judge a book by its cover", is certainly proven in this movie.
