Hello Friends! Hope you are having a great Summer day!
This weekend on TV: It's the last NEW Christmas in July premiere on the Hallmark Channel, where the story takes place in a Toy Store! It's gotta be the best place for a Christmas movie, next to the North Pole... don't you think? Plus, both Hallmark and GAC Family have excellent Christmas classics airing all weekend long!
UPtv, in the meantime, has an all new rom-com premiere starring Jocelyn Panton (Christmas Time Is Here) and Giles Panton (The Christmas Promise), who are married in real-life! It's always sweet, to me, to see real couples act together on screen, like Kayla Wallace and Kevin McGarry (Feeling Butterflies, My Grown-Up Christmas List) and Alexa and Carlos PenaVega (Picture Perfect Mysteries, Love at Sea, and the upcoming: Love in the Limelight).
See details on the new movies airing this weekend and more below...

The Christmas movie poll is the last poll in the It's a Wonderful Movie Awards and it ends on Monday, July 25th! So... get your vote in now before it ends! All of the movies are from the 2021 Christmas season from 5 different networks: GAC Family, the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Lifetime and UPtv!
Whatever your plans, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We are expecting possible storms and a heat index in the 100's! (Yikes!) So, needless to say, I'll probably be staying indoors mostly. I'm hoping to catch "Christmas in Toyland," and my DVR is set for "Love on Trend." Plus, I would love to see "The Christmas Calendar" on GAC Family. I'm so glad they obtained this movie... I just love the lead actress, Laura Bell Bundy! She is always a joy to watch - in all of her Christmas movies.
This last NEW Christmas in July premiere on Hallmark makes me think ahead even more now to the Christmas movies coming this October. It's fun to see little details on social media with various actors giving hints and on-the-set pics here and there. Both Andrew Walker and Tyler Hynes are filming new ones, and Candace Cameron Bure shared with her Instagram followers that she'll be working on her Christmas movie soon! There's a lot of exciting news ahead - so stay tuned!
Which movie or movies do you hope to see this Saturday and Sunday?
Please note: I haven't pre-screened the new movies listed above. If you'd like to post a review on whether a film is family-friendly, please share in comments below. Thank you!
If your weather is hot, too... stay cool and hydrated, friends, and have a blessed weekend!
*This beautiful scripture reminds us that we should keep our thoughts on The Lord continually throughout our day. As we keep our focus on Him, we will have a brighter outlook on the day and those around us.
I'll check out Christmas in Toyland.
ReplyDeleteBTW, there's 3 new aquired films coming to GAC Family next Saturday. :) -Maria
Maria, Hope you enjoy "Christmas in Toyland," too!
DeleteAlso, of the three movies GAC Family just obtained... Winter Wedding, It Happened One Valentine's, and Scents and Sensibility, I must say I've seen all three, and I like "Scents and Sensibility" best. If you haven't seen it, it's a fun modern take on Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility."
Net, I am most excited about Nick Bateman's movie. I think I will enjoy all 3 movies since it is GAC.
DeleteIs Christmas In Toyland family friendly?
kitkat, I'm not sure about Christmas in Toyland, yet, but I'm hoping!
DeleteI'm sure you will enjoy Winter Wedding next week. I saw it on UPtv in 2017, and I'm not recalling any content of concern.
I watched Scents & Sensibility, on YT, not on TV. It’s haven’t pick up by any networks
DeleteIt’s family friendly
Starring Ashley Williams, Brad Johnson, Marla Sokoloff & Nick Zano
After the family fortune of two sisters is frozen, they need a sweet-smelling plan to try to restore their wealth.
It’s version of Jane Austen’s Scenes & Sensibility
Scents and Sensibility actually aired on Lifetime many years ago. I looked up my old post on the movie and the premiere date on Lifetime was 10 Years Ago - on June 22, 2012! Wow! I had no idea it had been that long.
DeleteAnyway, it is a family-friendly movie, and I have a post for it, along with my review, here:
https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2012/07/scents-and-sensibility.html
I loved this movie!
DeleteIt looks like a nice lineup this weekend. I'm hoping both new movies are good.
ReplyDeleteAllie B, Me too! Happy watching! :)
DeleteIt's strange to see Hallmark Drama taking over the mystery movies and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is playing the rom-coms almost every weekend. What is seriously going on with this channel? It's all messed up. Where are the old mystery series we were watching? Why did they take those all away?
ReplyDeleteI think this a mystery many of us Sleuthers are finding difficult to solve. Could it be financial or ratings based? We know Mystery 101 pulled in great ratings, so that doesn't make sense not to keep it. Rumors are still going around that another movie may happen, and I'm still hoping, but not holding my breath.
DeleteI've seen many comments on Hallmark's social media platforms complaining about this and requesting more mysteries. They have to know the viewers feelings about this at this point. Some are even saying they will drop HMM in their cable packages if they don't pick up mystery movies again. Hopefully, Hallmark is listening.
Whatever the reason... we'll have to stay on the case and hunt for more clues!!!
I've been paying attention to the viewership numbers for both Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries this year. Out of the nine films Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has released so far, only three of them have received over a million viewers. These movies were 'Cut, Color, Murder' (1.2 million), 'Haunted by Murder: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery' (1.7 million), and 'Curious Caterer: Dying for Chocolate' (1.1 million). The rest of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' offerings (non-mystery films) received a million viewers or less.
DeleteMeanwhile, on Hallmark Channel, twenty out of their twenty three released movies received viewership numbers of 2.5 million or less. That's about 90% of the 2022 premieres from Hallmark Channel so far. Hallmark Drama, on the other hand, has become a dumping ground for programming that Hallmark either can't or doesn't want to place on their streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now. With Hallmark Movies & Mysteries becoming more "dramatic", it defeats the original purpose of Hallmark Drama, which was intended to house Hallmark's older titles, including those from Hallmark Hall of Fame.
To answer Net's question, I think these decisions are financially based. Hallmark's viewership numbers are doing them no favors. But instead of figuring out how to bring those numbers up, Hallmark is slowly turning more emphasis toward Hallmark Movies Now. A lot of Hallmark's "classics", older titles, and even some Hallmark Hall of Fame films are hidden behind a pay wall, instead of receiving as many viewers as possible on one of Hallmark's three networks. Even 'Sue Thomas: F. B. Eye', a show that seems like a perfect fit for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, is on Hallmark Movies Now. If they really wanted to boost their network numbers while also promoting the streaming service, Hallmark should host a quarterly event where a handful of their older movies are aired in a week long marathon on either Hallmark Channel or Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Based on feedback from Net's readers, it seems like there is a strong desire to seek out Hallmark's older content.
Sally Silverscreen, I agree, their programming decisions at Hallmark often baffle me. Those ratings numbers for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries premieres are substantially lower than the Hallmark Channel. No wonder they only premiered 9 Christmas movies on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel last year, when the year before they had 17 new premieres.
DeleteI'm very curious how many Christmas movies they plan to premiere on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries this holiday season. It seems, they cut back on their Christmas in July programming this year, bumping it entirely to June. Plus, they have ended Hallmark Movies & Mysteries' weekly Christmas movie on Thursday nights. They are definitely sending a message by doing this. I personally think their main focus will be on making Christmas even bigger on the Hallmark Channel - to compete, not with other networks, necessarily, but their own ratings numbers from last year.
Thank you for sharing. It was nice to get your take on this, too! :)
