PLOT:
Storyline via Hallmark: Caretta “Cara” Rudland (Kelly) thought she’d left her Southern roots and troubled family far behind, but returns to the scenic Lowcountry of her childhood summers after losing her job in Chicago. There, she reconnects with her mother Lovie (MacDowell), who has been caring for her young, pregnant friend Toy (Vega) in her charming beach house.
Before long, the rhythms of the island open Cara’s heart in wonderful ways as she becomes a bona fide “turtle lady” who conserves the area’s wildlife, repairs the family beach house and renews a past romance with former love, Brett (Murray). Eventually, Lovie reveals a secret she has been keeping from Cara and the mother daughter pair does their best to keep it from putting a dark cloud over the precious time they have together. When a devastating storm hits, Cara will help Lovie save hundreds of sea turtles from certain death and learn some of life’s real truths in the process: lasting love requires sacrifice, family is forever and mistakes of the past can be forgiven.

What was the name of the song playing when they were in the ballroom dancing?
ReplyDeleteJust been on 20 minutes I am loving it ! ππ
ReplyDeleteThe most depressing Hallmark movie I’ve ever watched ( and I’ve watched every one of them)
ReplyDeleteIf you normally turn to the Hallmark channel for an uplifting, feel- good movie, don’t watch this one. The only part that was remotely pleasing was the 5 minutes or so that was focused on the beautiful sea turtles.
I also thought it was depressing. I know all the movies can't be happy all the time, and it was based on a book, but I thought it was very depressing for Hallmark. I do know the Hall of Fame movies usually tackle tougher subjects so I am not mad at all, they didn't even really promote it very much. I can't wait for the next new HMM movie Darrow and Darrow and then Fiona G in Royally Ever After. I am in new movie Hallmark withdrawal already.
DeleteI missed it. Will it be shown again?
ReplyDeleteYes!

This movie was amazing. It's more of a family healing and life reflections type theme. A very welcomed change from the normal Hallmark movies that are dripping with romance and sometimes unrealistic storylines. The scenery was breathtaking and the acting by all was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely my favorite TV Movie of the year! It was breathtaking, and not just in scenery. As this was a Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, I expected a more heartfelt experience. I did not view it as depressing, it is life, and be it highs or lows, goodness and beauty can be found as a result.
ReplyDeleteLOVED the scenery, acting, and most of the story line. Didn’t like the sound engineering where Cara and her beau get away on the boat and for an intimate walk, and it was almost impossible deciphering what she was saying in that segment. That portion the be re-dubbed.
ReplyDeleteI loved the beautiful setting! I also agree with Becky. Unlike a few comments above, I didn't see the story line as depressing. It was sort of expected from Hallmark Hall of Fame. I really like the chemistry between Brett and Cara. I like all the family conflicts and relationship as well. I just think I'd like to know what Cara decided to do in the end, other than keeping her mom's legacy alive by saving the turtles. As sweet as that is, it doesn't seem like it's "herself" because she seemed to excel so much and love the job that she was doing before, so it would've been nice to see her stay in that industry somehow as an epilogue. Overall a sweet movie.
ReplyDeleteFantastic movie. I find myself watching it every time it's on. Jenn
