My take... I'm delighted to see actress Ashley Williams in this movie... she is always delightful, bubbly, and sweet in everything she does! Looks like a Fun Fall Family Film!!!

October Kiss looks like a great movie and the Jesse Stone series looks interesting. I've always liked Tom Selleck in Blue Bloods, so I'm sure he's good in this too.

I liked "October Kiss" quite a bit. I saw Ashley Williams in "Christmas in the City" back in 2013, and I thought she was charming then. She is just as charming in "October Kiss" too. She has a very natural way of acting that doesn't quite seem like acting, and she seems to have a good sense of how to deliver her often-comedic lines. Good timing.
ReplyDeleteI liked OK because there was a lot of Halloween in it -- Halloween decorations everywhere; Halloween costumes; a harvest festival; pumpkin foods; Halloween cookies; "HalloWeek"; trick or treating; pumpkin picking; etc. It definitely felt like the story was taking place in the weeks leading up to Halloween, as opposed to a romance set against a vague Halloween backdrop. Halloween was really being celebrated in this movie (in a fun way; not in a scary way). In "Autumn Dreams" from 2 weeks ago, there wasn't nearly enough "autumn" in it for my liking. "Harvest Moon" had a bit more focus on Autumn and pumpkins, and then "October Kiss" was all about Halloween.
I didn't think the actual romance was that strong, to be honest. I didn't detect a lot of romantic chemistry between the two leads, and I felt as though "Poppy" loved the kids more than the dad! I think that I prefer the romance in "Harvest Moon."
All in all, though, for Hallmark's first Fall Harvest event, I think this was a success (the first 3 movies combined). I don't really count "Good Witch Halloween" as being part of Fall Harvest, as I sort of see it is a segue between Season 1 and Season 2 of the series.
I expect Hallmark to up the ante and go bigger with Fall Harvest in 2016. Perhaps they will add in a couple of extra movies during October, or maybe they will start Fall Harvest closer to when Fall actually begins. Perhaps they will end up titling the event "Countdown to Halloween"!
I think this is a great prelude to the Christmas movie bonanza that awaits us in a couple of weeks!!!
Ashley was adorable in "October Kiss" and yes, Net, I loved "Christmas In The City" but my all time favorite was "Snow and Snow 2, Brain Freeze" with Tom Cavenough!! Now that's what I call perfect harmony between two wonderful, comedic personalities; couldn't stop laughing!!
