From TV One's press release - via futoncritic:
A Royal Family Holiday (previously titled Royal Family Thanksgiving)
Royalty in name and mind only, the Royal family led by patriarch Leighton (Richard Lawson) and matriarch Alfreda (Debbi Morgan), kick-off the first film, Royal Family Thanksgiving, with a fake break-up ruse to lure their overly-busy children home for Thanksgiving. Surprises and challenges ensue, including drama with Alfreda's envious sister Mona Levi (Vivica A. Fox); the revelation of a deep, dark family secret involving Alfreda's former acquaintance Chivonne Price (Tichina Arnold); and dealings with Leighton's super-loud, outspoken cousin Nelson Royal (Ricky Harris). Unfortunately, Leighton and Alfreda both play their roles too well as old wounds are re-opened and their carefully planned reunion leads to chaos - and a potentially real break-up. Royal Family Thanksgiving premieres on TV One, Saturday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. ET.
Royal Family Christmas
In the sequel, Royal Family Christmas, the children Phillip "Flip" Royal (Romeo Miller), a good-looking spiritual guru; Austin Royal (Eric Myrick III, At Sunrise), a Washington, D.C. community activist; Kelsey Royal (Chelsea Tavares, Fright Night), a fashion designer's gopher; and Pamela Royal (Taquilla Whitfield, Magic Mike XXL), a hair and nail salon owner; join forces to reunite their parents in time for Christmas. They try every trick in the book - including "playing nice" and setting aside old sibling rivalries - only to learn their mom and dad are enjoying "the single life." Their plan also goes awry as getting their parents back together ends up taking a back seat to their own personal and professional drama. Viewers can tune into TV One's Royal Family Christmas debut on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. ET.
I never heard of TVOne. Thanks for the info.

I looked up TVOne and it doesn't seem like it's family friendly to me. We shall see!

Yeah, I agree Misty... the network itself, doesn't look like family friendly programming, but then again, Lifetime doesn't have many shows that are made for family viewing, either, and, yet... they have some cute Christmas movies. Like you said, I guess we'll have to wait and see!
DeleteIt a good one for the teens and adults to enjoy. So many movies during the holidays can be cookie cutter and watered down to create the illusion of perfection. I liked this one because it was real.
DeleteMe too..
DeleteRace should not matter when it comes to a good movie. But TVONE is one of few channels that cater to afro americans. How ever anyone of any race is welcome to watch this channel. The shows are sometimes family friendly and sometimes not. Just as some other channels.choose the shows you enjoy.....love,peace,and freedom of choice to view what you like...PEACE☺
DeleteThe Royal Family Holiday movie is really a cute & cozy movie.. It is extremely family friendly and funny.. Lots of twists and plot turns
ReplyDeleteIts not extremely family friendly. Like its not a movie for little kids. Its more for teens and adults. I also wouldn't describe it as a cozy movie.
DeleteA great holiday movie. I laughed, I cried. Many emotions.
ReplyDeletei want to see what happen next ,can't wait hope its will be a new sitcom
ReplyDeleteWell.. I truly enjoyed this one. We laughed, cried and laugh!!! :-) I would even buy this one!! Great acting.. This one was really good.....
ReplyDeleteI loved the movie. Thanks TV ONE. For recognizing that we need to see all types of families celebrating Christmas. My Granddaughter who is 8, ask me "if they had any brown people celebrating Christmas". How ever this one may not be for her. But, next year you might put one on for kids and adults. Thanks for doing this. I like the Life Time Christmas moviws but they need to consider putting a few out with people of color. The only one I recorded for my grand was, "Annie Clause is Coming to Town"
