Franchise to Include Multiple 2-Hour Original Movies;
First Film, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered For Christmas,” Premieres November 23 (2014)
Crown Media Family Networks announced today that Hallmark Channel original weekly scripted series, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered,” executive produced and written by Martha Williamson (Executive Producer of “Touched by an Angel”), will move to sister network Hallmark Movies & Mysteries as a movie franchise consisting of a series of two-hour original films. Debuting on November 23 at 9pm ET/PT, 8C, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered For Christmas” will be the first movie in the franchise, with three more slated for 2015.
“We are delighted to be continuing our partnership with Martha Williamson and to bring her brand of rich and poignant stories to viewers on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries,” said Michelle Vicary, executive vice president, programming and network publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “At their core, the narratives on ‘Signed, Sealed, Delivered’ revolve around mystery and suspense, with compelling characters and dramatic storylines that will be enhanced by an extended format.”
"When Bill Abbott and Michelle Vicary asked if I can evolve the ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ franchise into a series of movies, I was honored to continue the Hallmark tradition of quality family movies," said series Creator and Executive Producer Martha Williamson. "At the heart of ‘Signed Sealed Delivered’ is Oliver, a modern day gentleman with old world values played brilliantly by Eric Mabius," she added. "He and his wonderful team of postal detectives will continue to surprise us and sometimes make us laugh as they work to solve mysteries behind letters, even mysteries of life."

Returning as the “POstables,” Oliver O’Toole (Eric Mabius, “Ugly Betty”), Shane McInerney (Kristin Booth, “Orphan Black”), Rita Haywith (Crystal Lowe, “Smallville”) and Norman Dorman (Geoff Gustafson “Primeval: New World”) will take millions of viewers on new adventures as they uncover the mysteries of lost missives and return them to their intended recipients, profoundly changing lives in the process.
So, Net, It's not coming back as a one hour weekly series on the Hallmark Movie/Mystery channel but as four 2 hour movies throughout 2015? I love the 2 hour deal since I couldn't get enough of SSD last season but I will miss not watching weekly. I believe this is the best series Hallmark has produced and I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteDisappointed that SSD is being moved to Hallmark movies and mysteries, so hopefully they will be featured on the Hallmark Channel in the future.
ReplyDeleteI am going to miss watching the weekly episodes with my family. It was the one show that we all liked, enjoyed, and agreed on. I like the movie idea, but why can't they still have the seasons with one movie per year. The fans wanted a season 2 which includes weekly episodes not 3 movies in a year. So I guess right now I am not to happy about this change in SSD.
ReplyDeleteI also am very happy that Hallmark is bringing back SSD in some form - though I will miss it as a weekly installment format. I really looked forward to the show every week last season. I hope that somewhere in either the Christmas movie or the future movies there will be some kind of resolution to the "Oliver cliffhanger" that we were left with. I also hope that even though there won't be the weekly story-lines, we are still able to learn more about the background and friendships of each of the characters.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to them.

Not to happy about this news. I don't get that channel plus I was so looking forward to a season two.
ReplyDeleteDisappointed to hear this. I wish it would stay a weekly show. All we ever hear about is Cedar Cove being number 1 in ratings, but it certainly isn't number 1 in the hearts of viewers. Have you seen the complaints and comments about it on facebook and now the same has come in for Signed Sealed Delivered. Fans aren't too happy that there won't be a Season 2 and the move to the movie channel doesn't seem to be going over well either. Hallmark has a lot of disappointed fans, myself included. ReplyDeleteFor those of us who don't get that channel, the show is still gone. We won't get to see what happens next to Oliver, Shane, Rita, and Norman. So disappointed about this move. Lea
ReplyDeleteMajor disappointment. Many viewers won't be able to see it now and we really need more shows like this with good morals. Can't hallmark see how disappointing this news is to their fan base. I bet cedar cove will have no trouble being renewed. Wait and see. I couldn't stand it any more. It didn't do anything for me. So negative. We need more Signed Sealed Delivered to lift us up. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo, disappointed that Signed, Sealed and Delivered is being moved. So many of us will NOT be able to see it. Lots of the new shows will be on Hallmark Mystery and Movie Channel. My cable provider doesn't show them. arghhhhhhhhhhh.
ReplyDeleteAh man, I'm glad it's not gone and that they are doing the movies. It is such a great show and the characters are fantastic, interesting and delightful. I just reeeeallly wish they would put it on Hallmark Channel at least since I don't get the movie channel. (I wish I did, but I can't afford it on Direct TV.) I was so very pleased to have the series as quality entertainment. There are definitely not enough high quality series out there. I do appreciate Hallmark's efforts to raise the level of entertainment on television.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to sound ungrateful, because I truly am very happy that this will be back in 2 hour increments. But...sorry there is a but...I wish it was a weekly series. I looked forward to this series very much and so did my husband. The same with When Calls the Heart and Cedar Cove. It makes sense to movie it to Movies and Mysteries, as it definitely is a mystery. I will remain grateful that this is coming back in whatever form...
ReplyDeleteI love this show! Me and my husband are shopping for a TV right now. As soon as we get one I can't wait to watch this show. I hope we can find one soon!

Not quite the news I'd hoped to hear, but I suppose there's always the chance the movies will be such hits that Hallmark will green-light a return to the weekly format. This show, and all the main characters, are really growing on me. Can't wait to see how they develop.
ReplyDeleteToo bad it won't be on the Hallmark Channel. I really liked this show.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I also will miss Signed, Sealed and Delivered as we do not have HD with Directv. We looked forward each week to see the show and always enjoyed each episode. Loved the Christmas movie. Had to go and buy it to see it. Hope the network will consider bringing it back to the Hallmark Channel or maybe put them out on dvd so we can see them.
ReplyDeleteI firmly believe that in order to get to the upper echelons of decision making you have to pass a stupid test. Whenever there is a series that is successful and people identify with the characters, you either don't renew it - such as A and E's Longmire or you move it to a channel lots of people don't get such as Signed, Sealed, Delivered. Why bother to hire wonderful actors and good screenwriters if you are going to stop us from watching shows we have come to love?
ReplyDeleteI heard about the series on EWTN. My daughter, age 9, and I have loved all but one. Dark of Night we didn't continue. The theme seemed too mature for her. Anyway, I joined Amazon Prime Instant video just to watch it and ended up buying Series 1. I was ready to buy season 2 to continue our once a week viewing. This is the only show we watch. I like to be alerted if there is a change in the weekly series/Season 2. Also I will look out for the movies.
